Background / History

Yao Lan was originally a modern man who encountered a “Transmigration Notice” on his computer. Treating it as a joke, he selected “The Sewers” as his destination world and Honkai: Star Rail as his ability before being pulled through the screen. He awakened on a beach, where a system confirmed that he had transmigrated to the Douluo Continent 1.

The system explained that Yao Lan's original powers were too strong for the world and would be released gradually. He adapted by disguising himself as a blue-gold-haired child and choosing to develop safely before displaying his full strength 2.

Seeking wealth, status, resources, and protection, Yao Lan created Herta as his first major clone. Herta entered the forging world, demonstrated extraordinary Spirit Refinement skill, and became Mu Chen's disciple, giving Yao Lan access to powerful social connections while his main body remained concealed 3 6.

Yao Lan later targeted Na'er, the Silver Dragon King's subordinate personality. Rather than make Tang Wulin his clone because of Tang San's connection, he chose Na'er and used the Abundance Aeon's power to attract and transform her. He preserved Na'er's personality while placing her consciousness under his control, transferred the Golden Dragon King's power from Tang Wulin into her, and erased Tang San's divine sense from Tang Wulin with Nihility 16 20.

His early plan centered on replacing Douluo Star's Core of Life with Construction Wood, denying Tang San control of the world. Na'er was assigned to plant the Construction Wood seed at Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy, which later became Douluo Peace Academy 20 122.

As his clone network and institutions expanded, Yao Lan manipulated Tang Wulin's growth, monitored major threats, established the Douluo Peace Company's influence, and ultimately mobilized the Xianzhou Alliance against Shrek-related forces and Tang 111 267 337.

After learning that Shrek was a cross-world assimilative force and that Tang treated the world's inhabitants as tools, Yao Lan openly became Tang's enemy. He fought Tang across time and space, defeated him, resisted Tang's main body beyond the world, and finally merged the Douluo Universe with the Honkai: Star Rail universe into the Star Rail Universe 264 267 361 364.

Appearance

Yao Lan can alter his appearance. After arriving in Douluo, he adopted the appearance of a child with blue-gold hair; when channeling the Abundance, his eyes become dragon-like vertical pupils 2 17.

  • Blue-gold hair in his child disguise 2
  • Appeared to be in his early teens while approaching Na'er 17
  • Dragon-like vertical pupils while converting the Abundance's power 17
  • Has concealed his true gender while using disguises; he later revealed himself as male to Tang Wulin 18

Personality

Yao Lan initially reacts to transmigration with skepticism and humor, but quickly accepts its reality and resolves to make the best of his circumstances 1 2.

He is calculating, adaptable, and highly strategic. He chooses blacksmithing for its social value, relies on clones to build influence, keeps his main body hidden during his early development, and plans far ahead against Tang San and other threats 3 6 20 63.

Yao Lan is willing to manipulate others for his goals. He transforms Na'er into his clone, strips Tang Wulin of the Golden Dragon King's power and Tang San's divine sense, and deliberately keeps Tang Wulin relatively powerless while monitoring him 18 20 111. His actions are nonetheless tied to a stated desire to protect the Douluo world from external forces, Shrek, and Tang's control 236 266 267.

As a teacher, he is strict about discipline and takes notice of students' conduct and achievement 309.
