Background / History

Hiugo transmigrated into the Warring States period and learned that he had been born into the Senju Clan as Senju Genma's son. Aware that the future he knew had not yet begun, he resolved to rely on training and his own strength rather than the eventual achievements of Hashirama and Tobirama. 1

As a child, Hiugo defeated Tobirama in a spar using unconventional taijutsu, then began studying alongside him at Senju Butsuma's direction. His early missions with Tobirama exposed him to lethal combat, including the execution of captured Uchiha ninja. During that battle, a black branch emerged from his palm and instinctively absorbed an opponent's blood and chakra. 1 2

His absorption drove him to seek increasingly powerful bloodlines. He acquired Fire Release from Uchiha victims, awakened the Sharingan after absorbing Hyuga branch-family ninja, and later obtained Earth and Wind Release from Senju Kazama's bloodline. 3 6 13

Following internal Senju political struggles over his awakened Wood Style, Hiugo was sent to the Eastern Battlefield for three years alongside Tobirama. There, he fought the Kaguya Clan, developed his Wood Style through repeated combat, gained recognition among Senju troops, and eventually became a Jonin commanding three affiliated clans. 20 23 27 38

After returning to the clan grounds, he was reassigned to the Western Battlefield in Tobirama's place. There, he reunited with his foster brother Senju Genichi, confronted the Hyuga brothers alongside Senju Shinji, and repelled Black Zetsu's attempt to possess him. 45 47 49 50

Hiugo is pragmatic, survival-oriented, and unusually aware of the cruelty of the Warring States period. He favors decisive advantages—ambushes, deception, long-range attacks, psychological pressure, and battlefield manipulation—rather than honorable combat. 3 10 11 17

He is also curious and relentlessly eager to learn. He readily studies new ninjutsu, gathers intelligence, absorbs enemy techniques where possible, and even accepts calling Tobirama “Second Brother” when doing so grants access to new research. 12 16 31

Despite his ruthlessness, Hiugo protects people he considers family. He encourages Hashirama's dream of peace, attempts to keep Tobirama from pursuing dangerous forbidden knowledge, and gives Itama protective Wood Armor before a dangerous mission. 18 21 41 42
