Background / History
Stark received an invitation to Value Line Company's event promising a longevity secret and attended out of curiosity. At the event, he was irritated when Bai Ye dismissed his celebrity status, but remained after reading Everyone Can Practice and discovering that Inner Force could be transferred between compatible practitioners at a 20% loss. 75 78 79
He became deeply invested in cultivating Inner Force. Stark Industries subsequently directed employees to cultivate and sell their Inner Force to the company, citing Stark's need for it and offering twice the market price. 97 98
During an Afghanistan weapons demonstration, Stark was attacked by terrorists using a missile bearing his own company's label and was critically wounded. While unconscious, he was recruited into the cross-world Chat Group. Bai Ye located him, killed the terrorists at the site, removed the shrapnel from his chest with Inner Force, and healed his injuries. 112 113 114
Bai Ye revealed that Obadiah had arranged the attack, then coerced Stark into cooperating with a scheme against the Chat Group administrator. Stark accepted Bai Ye's “friendship” under threat, agreeing to act as bait in the group. 115 116
Personality
Stark is self-assured, status-conscious, and accustomed to commanding attention; he expected to be the focus of the Value Line event and took Bai Ye's indifference personally. His curiosity nevertheless overrides his pride when confronted with useful knowledge or power, as shown by his immediate interest in Inner Force. 78 79
Although reluctant to assume political responsibility, Stark accepted planetary governance after Bai Ye handed him authority over changing laws. He relies on Jarvis to generate policy options, but takes personal responsibility for selecting the final approach. 137 140
His judgment is heavily shaped by Bai Ye's overwhelming power. Stark is willing to challenge Bai Ye's indifference toward Earth's defense, but defers major decisions involving Infinity Stones and parallel universes to him. 153 184

Story Role / Major Arcs
Planetary Administration
Bai Ye abruptly placed Stark in charge of global governance and legal reform. Stark initially resisted, then accepted the role and began using Jarvis-assisted policy selection. 137 140
He later dealt with Obadiah's renewed betrayal and considered the difficulty of enforcing law impartially in a government shared by superheroes, former criminals, and Kingpin's faction. His response was to recruit superheroes as officials and investigators. 161
Earth Defense Initiative
Stark recognized that Earth was too dependent on Bai Ye and pressed for independent defenses. Bai Ye responded with plans involving Hulk, mutants, Vibranium, Pym Particles, and Sentinel technology, leaving Stark responsible for implementation. 153
When the Tesseract became unstable, Stark reported the situation to Bai Ye. He then helped arrange Ebony Maw's capture and the use of a controlled portal to draw Thanos's forces into a prepared confrontation. 173 174 175
Parallel-Universe Crisis
During the altered New York invasion, Stark encountered his future counterpart attempting to take the Space and Mind Stones. Rather than immediately escalating the conflict, Stark warned him not to provoke Bai Ye and eventually learned that the other Stark sought to restore half the life in his own universe. 183 184
Stark consulted Bai Ye, who lent the required Stones and supplied Pym Particles. After the future counterpart's universe later fell to a zombie outbreak, Stark received Pepper and Morgan from that timeline and helped accommodate their survivors in his world. 185 186 189
White Empire Expansion
Stark and his future counterpart continued managing the White Empire's technological and administrative demands. Stark adopted Instant Refinement to expand the empire's labor capacity, while Bai Ye later granted him authority over the ruined Shrouding the Heavens universe and its Spirit-controlled Supremes. 300 350
He remains concerned about Bai Ye's actions and disappearances, even when Kingpin challenges his right to intervene in the emperor's affairs. 360 459 460
