Background / History

Kakashi introduced the Clone Technique to Kamiya Keiyun as one of the Three Body Techniques, alongside the Transformation and Substitution Techniques. Kakashi demonstrated that ordinary clones were insubstantial illusions that dispersed from even a light touch and were mainly useful for misleading or distracting opponents. 26

Keiyun nevertheless mastered the technique immediately. He then slowed the hand-seal process down to study its Chakra flow, discovering that the technique moved Chakra from the abdomen through the legs, spread it across the ground, and shaped it into an image within roughly two seconds. 27

Orochimaru later taught Keiyun the Shadow Clone Technique. Unlike the standard Clone Technique, Shadow Clones possess physical form, independent consciousness, and the ability to return their accumulated memories after dispersal. This discovery transformed clones from simple battlefield decoys into research assistants, laborers, and alternate identities. 38 42

Keiyun eventually created specialized clone identities, including Kamiya Ishiku for Earth Style construction, Kamiya Yunxiao for Wind Style research, and Kamiya Bian Que for medicine and poison research. He rebranded this broader system as One Qi Transforms into Three Pure Ones. 54 58
