Background
The Uchiha are one of Konoha's founding clans alongside the Senju. By Konoha's 54th year, they have been pushed from the village center to its outskirts following the Nine-Tails Incident, while their Military Police headquarters has likewise been relocated from the central district. The clan faces broad ostracism from villagers and sustained pressure from Konoha's leadership. 1
The late Great Elder, a leading Hawk, resented this marginalization and died wishing to see the clan's former glory restored. His grandson, Uchiha Gin, inherits his influence and promises to change the clan's fate rather than flee Konoha. 1
Gin's emergence creates a new internal political direction. He rejects both Fugaku's conciliatory approach and an immediate uprising, describing his own position as reformist: strengthen the clan, gain resources and influence, and avoid a premature war Konoha could still win. 2
Fugaku initially opposes Gin's methods but gradually accepts that coexistence under the existing leadership is untenable. He later yields the clan leadership to Gin, recognizing him as the clan's best prospect for restoring its power. 21
Organization
- The Uchiha maintain the Konoha Military Police Force, whose members must be at least Chūnin. It consists of five squads and also oversees prison personnel. 13
- Uchiha Gin, Shisui, Tekka, and Yashiro serve as captains during the force's expansion; Hyuga Himon is assigned as captain of an additional squad. 13
- The clan's elder generation remains politically influential. Gin mobilizes elderly clansmen to publicly protest Konoha's treatment of the Uchiha without resorting to violence. 4
- The clan diversifies beyond policing through restaurants, ninja-tool production, sales of low-rank ninjutsu, and trade with wealthy clients. 22 40 44
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan
The Sharingan is the clan's defining dōjutsu. It grants superior visual perception, allows rapid copying and learning of techniques, and makes its users especially suited to fields requiring observation or precise technical study. 26 33
- Three-Tomoe users are eligible to learn Izanagi under Gin's revised clan policy. 9
- Sharingan users can quickly copy sealing and Cursed Seal procedures needed for Scientific Ninja Tool production. 26
- The clan's research indicates that recipients of the Completion Gene can awaken the Sharingan through training. 42
Mangekyō Sharingan
Several Uchiha possess the Mangekyō Sharingan, making the clan's upper ranks a major concern for Konoha. Fugaku, Gin, Shisui, and Tekka attend a Konoha leadership meeting, with three identified as Mangekyō users. 11
- Mangekyō users can manifest Susanoo, including skeletal and half-body forms. 2 25
- The Mangekyō's usual blindness is treated by Gin and Orochimaru as a bloodline defect that may be offset through Senju-derived genetic material. 15 16
- Gin's public display of his Mangekyō raises clan morale while making Konoha's leadership more wary of the Uchiha. 8 9
Izanagi
Izanagi is a Uchiha forbidden technique previously restricted within the clan. Gin argues that maintaining the ban is pointless while outsiders such as Danzō possess and exploit Sharingan. 3 9
- Authorized for clan members who have reached Three-Tomoe Sharingan. 9
- Adopted to improve the clan's survival odds and deter attacks from Konoha. 9 10
Gene Completion and First Hokage Cell Research
The Uchiha collaborate with Orochimaru to fuse Uchiha genetic material with First Hokage Cells. The goal is to improve physical ability, stabilize the Mangekyō's bloodline defect, and create a stronger hereditary foundation for the clan. 16 27 42
- Three-Tomoe users display the highest compatibility with First Hokage Cells in Orochimaru's experiments. 27
- Fugaku's successful fusion supplies the genetic basis for the clan's Completion Gene. 42
- Fugaku gains Wood Release following his enhancement; other completed clansmen gain improved adaptation but do not necessarily inherit Wood Release. 44
- The project remains classified, with participants bound by Cursed Tongue Eradication Jutsu. 44
Scientific Ninja Tools and Commerce
- Elemental Chakra Blades — Chakra weapons modified with Cursed Seals to produce elemental blades even when supplied with ordinary chakra. The first fifty Fire Style blades sell out on their first day. 16 26
- Chakra Armor — Experimental armor equipped with a chakra shield and chakra-metal wings inscribed with Wind Style Cursed Seals, allowing the user to glide and fly. 34 35
- Guardian Gems — High-value protective gemstones sold to noble caravans. 44
- Uchiha Restaurant — A commercial-street business operated by Gin and Shisui that improves the clan's public visibility beyond its role as law enforcement. 22 24
- Low-rank ninjutsu sales — The clan sells D-rank and C-rank elemental techniques, arguing that many originated with the Uchiha or Senju and that civilian access will reduce mission casualties. 40
Relationships
- Konohagakure — Founding affiliation turned hostile political relationship. The clan remains formally loyal while opposing its marginalization and preparing against possible suppression. 1 21
- Uchiha Gin — The clan's reformist leader and chief strategist; he directs its political maneuvering, research, military preparation, and commercial expansion. 2 21 42
- Uchiha Fugaku — Former clan leader whose policy shifts from compromise toward supporting Gin's program for Uchiha revival. 2 21
- Orochimaru — Political and scientific ally. The clan supports his Hokage candidacy in exchange for research cooperation, protection, and access to First Hokage Cell technology. 6 10 16
- Uchiha Shisui — Mangekyō user, former Military Police captain, and covert operative whose defection is arranged to support the clan's wider strategy. 22 25 26
- Shimura Danzō — Principal enemy accused by Gin of colluding with Uchiha Madara; his actions against the clan lead to his designation as an S-rank rogue ninja. 12 21
- Hyuga Clan — Rival ocular-jutsu clan pressured by Gin to support Orochimaru. Hyuga Himon's placement in the Military Police Force also serves Konoha's surveillance interests. 13 41
Story Role / Major Arcs

After a Root-base incident is blamed on a Sharingan user, Gin publicly reveals his Mangekyō. The clan then legalizes Izanagi training for qualified members, signaling that it will no longer remain defenseless. 8 9

Commercial and Scientific Expansion
The clan establishes research facilities, develops affordable ninja tools, opens businesses, and sells low-rank ninjutsu. These initiatives challenge Konoha's control over training resources while improving the Uchiha's finances and public standing. 16 22 35 40
Genetic Enhancement
Through Orochimaru's research and Itachi's assistance, the Uchiha begin integrating First Hokage Cell-derived genetic information into selected clansmen. The Gene Completion project is treated as the foundation for the clan's eventual rebirth. 27 42 44
