Background / History

Orochimaru conducts prohibited human experimentation from hidden underground laboratories, pursuing a “perfect body” capable of eternal life and immense power. Having witnessed war and the deaths of people close to him, he views survival and bodily evolution as inseparable goals. Failed subjects are still retained as research data rather than discarded as worthless. 5

When Uchiha Gin infiltrates one of his facilities, Orochimaru initially assumes his experimentation has been exposed. He prepares an escape route, creates a Shadow Clone to investigate the intruder, and is willing to abandon the laboratory’s other occupants to ensure his own survival. He attempts to kill Gin once Gin reveals his identity, but withdraws from direct conflict after encountering Gin’s Susanoo and genjutsu. 5
