Background / History

Guren lost her home and family during wartime. Drawn to Orochimaru's power, she became his subordinate and participated in operations to establish Otogakure. During one such mission, she was ordered to attack Yūkimaru's village; after Yūkimaru's mother treated her injuries, Guren tried to warn the woman away but was forced by Orochimaru to kill her. She subsequently sealed away the memory. 214

Because of her rare Crystal Release, Orochimaru selected Guren as a possible reincarnation vessel and placed her in charge of a base. After being sidelined in favor of other candidates, she was later reactivated for the mission to obtain the Three-Tails. 214

While pursuing the Three-Tails, Guren came to care for Yūkimaru, who was being used to draw out the beast. She recovered the memory of killing his mother, felt deep remorse, and resolved to protect him. After the operation failed, she left Orochimaru with Yūkimaru and Gōzu to live in seclusion. 214

Orochimaru later brought Guren back into his organization and assigned her to accompany Mingyou's force toward the Land of Earth.
