Background / History

Shrek Academy is described as possessing a genuine twenty-thousand-year foundation, having begun as an unofficial private school. Its prestige is nevertheless commonly framed as “ten thousand years of glory,” built around its status as the continent’s foremost Soul Master academy. 38 140

The academy’s neutral position and central location made it a bridge among the three great empires. It supplied talent rather than acting as a conventional sect, maintained close ties with the empires, and possessed enough influence that many Federal Council members were Shrek-affiliated. 23 104 155

The Sea God Pavilion is Shrek’s core institution and the repository of its most closely guarded matters. Mu En served as its master; after his fatal injuries during the Holy Spirit Cult’s assault, he designated Xuan Zi as his successor and ordered reforms to preserve the academy’s future. 80 90 104 153

During Tang Chuan’s registration, Shrek is depicted in a far more impoverished state: its gate bears a battered sign, it lacks tournament eligibility and funding, and it has fewer students than teachers. Despite this, it retains its preference for exceptional talent over enrollment numbers. 195

Sea God Lake and the Golden Tree

Sea God Lake is a major campus landmark, noted for its exceptionally clear water and fresh atmosphere. 112 122

The Golden Tree stands at the center of the Sea God Pavilion. Successive Pavilion masters may merge their souls into it before death, making the tree a fundamental part of Shrek’s legacy and security. 253

When Yue Hanmu reached the Spirit Sea Realm, the Golden Tree abruptly lost more than eighty percent of its accumulated energy. The academy and Spirit Pagoda investigated him but found no trace of the missing power; Shrek chose to pursue goodwill by inviting him to study there rather than forcefully examining him. 253

Admissions, Curriculum, and Advancement

• Outer Court applicants must be no older than twelve and possess at least Rank 15 Soul Power. Tuition is ten Gold Soul Coins per academic year, excluding meals, and is non-refundable after failure or withdrawal. 104

Major Arcs

Mu Han’s Challenge and Enrollment

Mu Han defeated seven Shrek representatives alone at the Skysea Alliance Tournament. Though his healing wings left them physically unharmed, Ye Xinglan, Xu Lizhi, and the others suffered severe psychological trauma. 18

The defeat triggered widespread ridicule of Shrek’s status as the continent’s number-one academy. Shrek entered the All-Federation Tournament to restore its standing, then became an even greater laughingstock after circulating rumors that Mu Han had avoided competition. 20 21

Shrek later recruited Mu Han through negotiation rather than confrontation, offering Three-Legged Golden Toad essence blood from the Sea God Pavilion. He passed every stage of the entrance examination with full marks, including a Level 6 blacksmithing display. 21 24

Huo Yuhao and the Defection Scandal

Following an earlier tournament defeat, Shrek increased resource investment and recruited core disciples from prominent and hidden sects to rebuild a stronger team. 75

Huo Yuhao entered through special admission, but was used to suppress Ma Xiaotao’s unstable evil fire. Ye Guyi later exposed this treatment publicly during the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Dueling Tournament. 75 76 78

Tournament Victory With an Incomplete Team

Shrek later entered the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Dueling Tournament with only Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong’er, and Xiao Xiao. Huo Yuhao repeatedly defeated seven-person teams alone and carried the academy through the competition. 140 141 145

In the final, Huo Yuhao used the Martial Soul Fusion Skill Red Dust Attachment to defeat the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy, securing Shrek’s championship. Despite the victory, Huo Yuhao and Xiao Xiao withdrew while Wang Dong’er returned to the Clear Sky Sect, leaving Shrek unable to reclaim either its students or their championship rewards without further harming its reputation. 152

Beast Tide Crisis

After Scarlet King and Myriad Demon King were killed, the Star Dou Great Forest’s soul beasts launched repeated assaults on Shrek City. Di Tian personally led the attack and overwhelmed Mu En and Xuan Zi. 155 159

Shrek deployed Peacock Plume Cannons and Mother-and-Child Soul-Chasing Fixed Soul Guidance Shells against the soul beast army. During negotiations, Di Tian demanded that Shrek surrender Huo Yuhao; Xuan Zi refused. 157 158
