Background

The Sun Moon Empire lies west of the Star Dou Great Forest; its position stems from the Sun Moon Continent having collided with the mainland from the west. Its principal city is Ming Capital. 64

The empire prospered under the previous reigning emperor, who governed diligently and retained broad ministerial loyalty. His refusal to strip his brother, Xu Tianran's father, of power nevertheless created the conditions for internal instability. 54

After the emperor's death, six-year-old Xu He inherited the throne despite awakening a food-type Cigar Martial Soul rather than the royal Purple Imperial Extinction Dragon or Sun Martial Soul. Royal clansmen mobilized private armies and competed for power in Ming Capital. 54 55

Regent Jing Hongchen and State Preceptor Mu Hongchen restored order by publicly backing Xu He alongside Kong Deming and the Enshrinement Hall. The ensuing purge executed prominent royal rebels, confiscated wealth, and reduced the Xu imperial house to a nominal ruling line. 55

History

Consolidation under the Hongchen Family

Following Xu He's accession, the Hongchen family used the rebellion purge to remove hostile royal clansmen, seize their assets, and obtain the funds required for war. 55 61 Kong Deming supported their dominance, regarding Mu Hongchen's technological knowledge as essential to leading Soul Tool development into a new era. 55

The empire later used propaganda to frame Shrek Academy's threat against Xu He as an offense against the entire nation, building public support for military action against Shrek and the three great empires. 57

First Holy War

The Sun Moon Empire launched a surprise assault on the Star Luo Empire's western frontier, using Level 9 Fixed Soul Guidance Shells and Soul Engineer Legions to break the Mingdou Mountain Range defensive line and rout the Northwest Army Group. 61

The Star Luo attack was a diversion. The empire fortified the captured mountain range rather than pressing into Star Luo, drawing enemy reinforcements west while its main force attacked the Heavenly Soul Empire. 62 The campaign destroyed the Heavenly Soul Empire's six Soul Engineer Legions, captured Heaven Dou City, and seized extensive territory west of the capital. 62

The war ended in a Sun Moon–dictated ceasefire. The three great empires publicly acknowledged its victory, Star Luo abandoned its claim to the Mingdou Mountain Range, and Heavenly Soul relinquished claims to lost land. 65

Occupation and Internal Development

In occupied Heavenly Soul territory, Mu Hongchen eliminated local nobles and landlords, confiscated their movable wealth, and redistributed real estate to commoners. 66 The empire also promoted Soul Tool technology through occupied society, initially targeting noble classes to create dependence on technology whose core systems remained under Sun Moon control. 65

The empire expanded mineral exploration, particularly for rare metals required by its Soul Tool industry and future wars. 64 It strengthened border reconnaissance with high-altitude and ground-based detection units, making foreign intelligence-gathering increasingly difficult. 66

Second Holy War

The empire launched a nighttime surprise attack on the Dou Ling Empire's capital after its elite forces had been drawn away. It used interference Soul Tools, high-altitude detection, and mass-produced fixed shells to destroy the imperial palace and kill nearly the entire royal family. 68 69

Within ten years, the First Holy War had taken the Mingdou Mountain Range and northern Heavenly Soul territory, while the Second Holy War seized northern Dou Ling territory and devastated its imperial family. 70

Recruitment and Economic Warfare

The Sun Moon Empire recruited powerful cultivators from rival nations, requiring recruits to relocate with their families to reduce the risk of betrayal. The Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect became the first major faction to defect. 93

Mu Hongchen later used defectors' commercial networks to purchase grain and daily necessities in the three empires while introducing paper currency. The currency bore a Three-Legged Golden Toad rather than any member of the Xu royal family. 94

Continental Expansion

After the Grand Competition, the empire declared war on the original Douluo Continent while its enemies were weakened by the deaths of four Limit Douluo. 98 It defeated the Heavenly Soul and Dou Ling allied forces at Tianling City, eliminated the Heavenly Soul imperial family, and occupied all Heavenly Soul territory except Shrek City. 99

The Dou Ling Empire subsequently fell following a seaborne surprise attack and a full Sun Moon ground offensive. The empire then encircled the Star Luo Empire from its homeland, former Heavenly Soul territory, and former Dou Ling territory. 99
