Background / History

Xiao Wu lived among humans as a work-study student at Nuoding Academy, presenting herself as a talented human soul master with Innate Full Soul Power. Unlike ordinary soul masters, she could condense her own soul rings from her origin power. Su Mo identified her as a Hundred-Thousand-Year soul beast after noticing that she had gained a ring without leaving Nuoding City to hunt. He used the threat of exposing her to Martial Soul Hall to force a bargain: secrecy and protection in exchange for teaching him soul-ring condensation. 3 4

Her original reason for entering the human world was to cultivate, grow stronger, and avenge her mother's death. Her mother had remained behind to protect her escape and subsequently became Bibi Dong's soul ring and Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbit soul bone. 35 60 61

The disappearance of all soul beasts devastated Xiao Wu. She returned to the Star Dou Great Forest and found the Lake of Life empty, unable to sense Da Ming or Er Ming; she broke down while calling for them. 10 Afterward, she returned to Su Mo in grief and became increasingly dependent on him for comfort and companionship. Her isolation leaves Su Mo as the person whose presence most reliably eases her grief. 11 14

Initially, Xiao Wu still hoped the vanished soul beasts might return. She enthusiastically witnessed Su Mo's first successful self-condensed ring because she believed his method could spare her kin from hunting. She wanted the technique spread, but accepted his decision to wait after he explained that premature exposure would attract Titled Douluo and force her to flee. 16 17

She left Nuoding City with Su Mo for Suotuo City, helping him better understand his martial soul and accompanying his cultivation journey. 19 22 At the Sunset Forest's Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, she accepted the Lovesick Heartbreak Red as an aura-concealing pendant and absorbed the Narcissus Jade Muscle Bone. 35 36

Following Bibi Dong's public insinuations and the resulting continent-wide rumors about her identity, Xiao Wu and Su Mo chose to establish an academy based on Su Mo's Ring Condensation Technique and self-created soul skills. Xiao Wu supports using the revived Soul Master Tournament to introduce their academy and accompanies Su Mo to seek funding from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. After Su Mo Academy wins the championship, she represents the academy in accepting its soul-bone reward directly from Bibi Dong. 82 136

During a stay on Sea God Island, Xiao Wu spends a month traveling the island with Su Mo. Although the Heart of the Sea God does not accept her, she later receives the Sea God's Top-Level Eight Trials. Xiao Wu later kills Huyan Zhen to avenge Tang San after his death. 168 She also confronts and kills Bibi Dong, finally avenging her mother and finding emotional closure after years of hatred. 170 171 After the battle, Su Mo retrieves her mother's Hundred-Thousand-Year left leg soul bone from Bibi Dong's corpse and gives it to her. Xiao Wu carefully stores it away, then guards Su Mo as he absorbs Bibi Dong's remaining soul bones. 171

After Su Mo becomes a god, Xiao Wu begins the Asura God's inheritance. She withstands the Ninth Trial's attacks, illusions, temptation, grief, and tests of her reliance on Su Mo, then inherits the Asura divine position through the Asura Blood Sword. 178 Although she cannot independently command the Asura God's power, her Martial Soul Fusion with Su Mo enables the pair to wield their divine powers together. Her ascension is sensed by Qian Daoliu and Bo Saixi, astonishing both. 178

Original-Work World Counterpart

The later Sky Screen storyline distinguishes Xiao Wu in Su Mo's world from a separate Xiao Wu living with the Shrek Academy group in the Original-Work World. This counterpart watches the broadcast of her alternate self's relationship and cultivation journey with Su Mo while remaining attached to Tang San. 184 191 213

She is astonished to see her alternate self become a Level 77 Soul Saint at seventeen. The broadcast also shows Da Ming and Er Ming, who are still present in the Original-Work World, rejoicing at the alternate Xiao Wu's survival and strength. 191

When the Sky Screen broadcasts Su Mo's discovery of Xiao Wu's soul-beast identity, it exposes the Original-Work World counterpart as well. Although she fears that her classmates and teachers might kill her for her soul bone, the Shrek group accepts her. Tang San promises to protect her, and Flender orders the entire group to pack and leave the city overnight. Outside powers initially search for her in Nuoding City, unaware that she has moved to Shrek Academy. 205 206 Bibi Dong personally joins the search after identifying her as the daughter of the transformed rabbit she previously killed. 207

Divine punishment later resets the counterpart's cultivation and erases her Hundred-Thousand-Year soul-beast origin entirely, making her fully human. She is conflicted by the loss: becoming human fulfills her wish to fit into human society and remain with Tang San, but also removes the origin power that had sustained her cultivation and offered the possibility of sacrifice. 255

After Heaven Dou falls to the Star Luo Empire, she explains to the Shrek group that she can no longer sacrifice herself and would no longer leave a soul ring or soul bone if killed. Xiao Wu is lively, proud, and direct, often acting with playful confidence around Su Mo. She is also emotionally vulnerable following the extinction of her kin, and her loss drives her attachment to the person who remains beside her. 10 11 36

Her understanding of martial souls and self-condensed rings reflects practical knowledge beyond that of ordinary human soul masters. She recognizes that a martial soul must be accepted as part of its owner and helps Su Mo make his Broken Sword into energy. 22

She can also be perceptive about other people's intentions. When Su Mo indirectly asks about Tang San's unusual cultivation, she immediately recognizes that he wants her to obtain Tang San's methods for him. She agrees despite understanding that Su Mo is using her. 6

She remains protective of soul beasts and empathetic toward others of her kind. When Tang Hao recognizes her as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbit, she sympathizes with his search for Ah Yin while withholding her own identity. 75 She also harbors intense hatred for Bibi Dong, whom she recognizes as the killer of her mother. 60

Loss of the Soul Beasts

At Su Mo's public demonstration of the Ring Condensation Technique, Xiao Wu's hatred alerts Bibi Dong, who connects her identity, Innate Full Soul Power, and history to the transformed Soft Bone Rabbit who escaped with her mother. 60 Bibi Dong then publicly points to Xiao Wu as a transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year soul beast, but Xiao Wu denies it before the assembled powers. 61
