Background / History

Before concealing himself in Holy Soul Village, Tang Hao severely wounded Martial Soul Hall's former Pope, Qian Xunji, and subsequently hid his identity as a village blacksmith while raising the infant Tang San. 133

Tang Hao lived in concealment at a blacksmith shop in Holy Soul Village while secretly watching over Tang San. He drove a century-old Datura Snake toward Tang San so that the boy could obtain a century-level first spirit ring, but chose not to intervene when Tang San handled Yu Xiaogang's poisoning himself. 10

Because Tang San had cultivated independently since childhood and displayed unusual abilities, Tang Hao once suspected that he was not his biological son and treated him poorly. Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer martial soul ultimately confirmed his parentage as the son of Tang Hao and Ah Yin. 10

Ah Yin, a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Soul Beast in human form, had sacrificed herself to save Tang Hao and left behind a Blue Silver Emperor seed containing the essence of her life and soul imprint. Tang Hao believed that she could eventually re-condense from the seed. 10 163

According to Tang Yuehua, Martial Soul Hall demanded that Tang Hao surrender Ah Yin, using her identity as a transformed Soul Beast as its justification. Tang Hao refused and fled with her, but they were eventually surrounded and hunted down, leading to Ah Yin's sacrifice. Her sacrifice supplied Tang Hao's ninth soul ring. 163 232

After learning that soul beasts had vanished, Tang Hao rushed to the place where he had hidden Ah Yin's Blue Silver Emperor seed, only to find it missing. Believing that a hundred-thousand-year soul beast in human form might have survived, he searched for Xiao Wu in hopes of confirming that Ah Yin was alive. 10 27

The seed had been hidden behind a waterfall. Tang Hao found a charred crater in its place, searched the blackened soil for traces of Ah Yin, and initially assumed that someone had taken her. He summoned his Clear Sky Hammer, roared through the surrounding forest, and vowed to recover her. 10

During his investigation, Tang Hao learned that the soul beasts had not merely disappeared but had died simultaneously, their bodies destroyed from within and their soul rings dissipated. He killed a soul master who confirmed this account, but continued to deny Ah Yin's likely death. 23 25

A later Soul Beast hunter gave the same account under interrogation. Unlike the earlier witness, this hunter was allowed to leave alive. Tang Hao recognized that the destruction of Ah Yin's hiding place matched the reported extinction event, but seized on Xiao Wu's transformed human state as a reason to hope that Ah Yin had survived. 25

He learned that Tang San had traveled to Martial Soul Hall with Yu Xiaogang, but refused to enter the organization himself, fearing that his presence could expose Tang San's identity and endanger him. 27

At Nuoding Academy, Tang Hao also found Yu Xiaogang's discarded notes describing Self-Condensed Soul Rings as theoretically feasible. He did not understand the formulas and paid them little attention. After learning that Yu Xiaogang had been invited to conduct research, he resolved to find Ah Yin before rescuing Tang San. 27

Unable to accept Ah Yin's apparent death or Tang San's association with Martial Soul Hall, Tang Hao exiled himself to Slaughter City, where he became a drunk and recluse. His suspicions about Tang San also resurfaced when Tang San's cultivation became stalled, causing him to question whether the boy's soul truly belonged to his biological son. Xiao Wu's performance in the Hell Slaughter Arena briefly drew him out of his stupor. 74

During this self-exile, Tang Hao abandoned both his search for Ah Yin and his intention to retrieve Tang San. He drank Yellow Spring Dew to blur his memories, alternating between drinking and sleeping, and killed people who provoked him. 74

Tang Hao confronted Xiao Wu after recognizing her as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbit and demanded information about Ah Yin. Su Mo induced him to surrender Ah Yin's Blue Silver Emperor Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bone in exchange for the truth, then initially told him that Ah Yin had died after sacrificing herself and becoming a seed eleven years earlier. The later Sky Screen account identified the night of Soul Beast Extinction as the destruction of her remaining seed. 75 232

Enraged, Tang Hao pursued Su Mo into a void space, where Su Mo repeatedly provoked him into using his Clear Sky Sect techniques. After being imprisoned there while Su Mo analyzed and copied his abilities, Tang Hao detonated all of his soul rings and attempted to self-destruct rather than allow his Soul Bones to be taken. Su Mo prevented the attempt, killed him, and claimed the six Soul Bones that emerged. 76 77 90 91

Su Mo subsequently dismantled four of Tang Hao's Soul Bones and used his observations to comprehend the Soul Bone Cultivation Method. He absorbed the shattered fragments and equipped the remaining bones, including the previously surrendered Blue Silver Emperor Soul Bone, to study their skills. 92

Although Tang Hao's death remained unknown to Tang San and the Clear Sky Sect, the sect later denounced him as a traitor and sect criminal over the consequences of his past conflict with Martial Soul Hall and his departure from the sect. 160 162

The Seventh Elder accused Tang Hao of causing the deaths of numerous Clear Sky Sect experts for the sake of a Soul Beast and giving Martial Soul Hall leverage that forced the sect into seclusion for more than a decade. Tang Yuehua rejected this judgment, maintaining that Tang Hao had done nothing wrong by loving Ah Yin and that Martial Soul Hall had left them no way to live. 160 163

Original-Work World Counterpart

The later Sky Screen broadcasts show a separate, living Tang Hao in the Original-Work World watching the history of his counterpart in Su Mo's world. His own Tang San attends Shrek Academy rather than joining Martial Soul Hall, and Ah Yin's remaining Blue Silver Emperor form still exists in his world. 185 230 231

When the Sky Screen showed Tang San entering Martial Soul Hall with Yu Xiaogang, Tang Hao raged at the teacher and demanded his son back. Unable to intervene in the other world, he eventually reminded himself that his own son had gone to Shrek Academy. 185

The broadcasts of his counterpart's decline, imprisonment, and death disturbed him deeply. He recognized that Soul Beast Extinction had destroyed the other world's Ah Yin and saw how grief and drunkenness had left his counterpart vulnerable to Su Mo. After watching the outcome, he resolved to stop drinking and avoid the same fate. 230 231

The Sky Screen later brought his longstanding suspicions about Tang San's unexplained cultivation back to the surface. Tang Hao recalled noticing Tang San secretly cultivating when he was barely over a year old and having suspected that an undetected person had taught another man's child. The revelation that Tang San had been reincarnated with memories and techniques from another world finally explained his behavior and reaffirmed to Tang Hao that Tang San was genuinely his and Ah Yin's son. 242 244 245

Appearance

By the time of his search for Ah Yin, Tang Hao had grizzled black hair and a weary, hunched appearance. In Slaughter City, he appeared as a disheveled old man whose dangerous aura remained apparent despite his drunkenness. 27 74

  • Radiates a chilling, baleful pressure when agitated. 27
  • His eyes become bloodshot in battle or rage. 90
  • After repeatedly using Ring Detonation, his body became badly split and soaked in blood. 91
  • During confinement, his hair resembled a bird's nest and his beard covered most of his face, while his eyes retained an intense, defiant brightness. 90
  • The Sky Screen's depiction of his Slaughter City decline showed tangled, graying hair, deeply sunken and unfocused eyes, and worn clothes stained with wine and grease. 230

Personality

Tang Hao is intensely devoted to Ah Yin, while his attachment to Tang San is complicated by suspicion and neglect. His love turns into denial, desperation, and violence when he believes those close to him are threatened. He refuses to accept the extinction of soul beasts as proof of Ah Yin's death and clings to Xiao Wu's survival as evidence that Ah Yin might still live. 10 23 25 27 74

His protectiveness toward Tang San is complicated by his earlier suspicion that Tang San was not his son. Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer initially confirmed their bloodline and led Tang Hao to accept him as his child, but Tang Hao's doubts later resurfaced due to Tang San's unexplained abilities and stalled cultivation. He nevertheless avoided Martial Soul Hall specifically to prevent exposing Tang San to danger. 10 27 74

Tang Hao bears deep regret over being unable to protect Ah Yin during her sacrifice and being unable to retrieve Tang San from Martial Soul Hall without jeopardizing the boy's identity. These failures intensify his resentment of Martial Soul Hall and drive much of his self-destructive behavior. 27 90

In combat, Tang Hao is fierce and overwhelmingly powerful, yet his grief makes him reckless. Su Mo exploits his anger, regret, and obsession with failing to protect Ah Yin and Tang San to force him into revealing his strongest techniques. 76 90 91

His despair in Slaughter City also eroded his earlier resolve to protect Tang San. With Ah Yin apparently gone and Tang San unable to realize his talent, he withdrew from both family responsibilities and the search for answers, using Yellow Spring Dew to suppress his memories. 74

Even when trapped, Tang Hao remained stubbornly defiant, believing that a single successful hammer strike would kill Su Mo. Once he understood that Su Mo had copied his sect's inheritance and intended to kill him, he preferred self-destruction to a humiliating death that would leave his Soul Bones to his enemy. 90 91

His Original-Work World counterpart shows an ability to reconsider his behavior after witnessing the consequences of his alternate self's choices. He resolves to abandon drinking after the broadcast of his death, and the revelation of Tang San's reincarnation finally gives him an explanation for the childhood behavior that had prompted his mistreatment. 231 242 245

Abilities & Skills

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang Hao wields the Clear Sky Hammer martial soul. Its broad, sweeping strikes carry the power of a level-95 Title Douluo. 90

  • Confirmed Tang San's parentage when Tang San awakened the same martial soul. 10
  • Used to batter the barriers of Su Mo's void prison, though the effort caused backlash. 91
  • His final mountain-sized strike split the Floating Island in two, causing part of it to collapse into the void. 91

Title Douluo Power

Tang Hao possessed nine soul rings and was recognized as a Title Douluo. He held the continent's record as the youngest person to reach that rank, achieving it at forty-four. 75 97

  • His full pressure was sufficient to intimidate and pressure Xiao Wu. 75
  • His attacks carried level-95 Title Douluo force. 90
  • One of his nine soul rings was a crimson Hundred-Thousand-Year soul ring, which Xiao Wu identified as Ah Yin's. It was his ninth soul ring, obtained through her sacrifice. 75 90 232
  • Su Mo and Xiao Wu, then Soul Saints, could not withstand his attacks directly and relied on Teleportation and Su Mo's Void ability to evade them. Tang Hao's entry into the sealed Void Space was crucial to his defeat. 76 77

Slaughter God's Domain

Tang Hao possessed the Slaughter God's Domain, which erupted uncontrollably when he learned that Tang San had gone to Martial Soul Hall. Its release shattered the windows of Nuoding Soul Master Academy's Teacher Building and forced the academy dean backward. 27

Ring Detonation

A powerful technique in which Tang Hao detonates his soul rings for a massive temporary increase in destructive power. 76 90

  • Used under Su Mo's provocation inside the void space. 76
  • At level 95, enabled Tang Hao to defeat the level-98 Golden Crocodile Douluo. 77
  • Detonating all of his soul rings caused an explosion that devastated the Floating Island. 91
  • The technique left him severely weakened after its effects ended. 76
  • Su Mo eventually analyzed and copied the technique. 90
  • Frequent use inflicted cumulative bodily damage. During his final detonation, Tang Hao's skin split and bled, and he estimated that recovery from the backlash would require at least half a year if he survived. 91

Great Sumeru Hammer

A powerful Clear Sky Sect hammer technique used by Tang Hao during his confinement. 77 90

  • Su Mo imprisoned Tang Hao partly to observe and learn this technique. 77
  • Su Mo later copied it as the Great Sumeru Sword, shocking Tang Hao. 90
  • The technique enlarges the wielder's martial soul to immense proportions and attacks through overwhelming force. 76 90
  • Su Mo's reproduction preserved the timing and degree of Soul Power compression while changing the weapon from a hammer to a sword. 90

Clear Sky Nine Absolutes

Tang Hao possessed Clear Sky Nine Absolutes among the Clear Sky Sect's closely guarded secret techniques. The Sky Screen revealed that he used it during his confinement and that Su Mo analyzed and recreated it alongside Great Sumeru Hammer and Ring Detonation. 231

Attempted Soul Bone Self-Destruction

Tang Hao attempted to gather his Soul Power and destroy both himself and his Soul Bones, denying Su Mo the chance to claim them. Destroying the bones along with his body required precise control rather than simply detonating his Soul Power. Su Mo's sustained sword attacks prevented him from completing the preparation before Ring Detonation ended. 91

Equipment / Items

  • Blue Silver Emperor Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bone — Ah Yin's soul bone; Tang Hao gave it to Su Mo in exchange for information about Ah Yin. He subsequently demanded it back, considering it his last remaining connection to her. Su Mo later absorbed it to study its skills. 75 76 92
  • Six Soul Bones — emerged after Tang Hao's death and were taken by Su Mo. They comprised a skull, torso bone, both arm bones, and both leg bones; the skull was dark gold with intricate patterns and powerful Soul Power fluctuations. The Sky Screen later described the set as top-grade. 91 231
  • Soul Bone research legacy — Su Mo dismantled four of the six bones to develop the Soul Bone Cultivation Method, then absorbed the fragments and equipped the remaining bones. 92
  • Yellow Spring Dew — consumed extensively during his self-exile in Slaughter City, where he used its alcohol and toxicity to dull painful memories. 74

Relationships

  • Ah Yin — Lover and Tang San's mother; a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Soul Beast who sacrificed herself to save Tang Hao. Tang Hao's search for her survival consumes much of his later life. Her remaining seed was destroyed by Soul Beast Extinction in Su Mo's world, while her Blue Silver Emperor form still exists in the Original-Work World during the broadcasts. 10 25 75 163 230 231 232
  • Tang San — Son. Tang Hao initially doubted his parentage, then accepted him after seeing his Clear Sky Hammer; his doubts later returned, though he still avoided Martial Soul Hall to protect him. Tang San later learned Tang Hao's identity and resolved to find him, unaware that he had already died. In the Original-Work World, the Sky Screen's revelation of Tang San's reincarnation explained his unusual abilities and reaffirmed his parentage to Tang Hao. 10 27 74 133 135 242 244 245
  • Tang Yuehua — Younger sister and Tang San's aunt. After learning of Tang San's claimed lineage, she sought news of Tang Hao and promised to investigate his whereabouts. She defended Tang Hao's relationship with Ah Yin against the sect's condemnation and believed that his continued absence meant he was trapped rather than deliberately abandoning Tang San. 162 163 164
  • Tang Xiao — Elder brother and Clear Sky Sect Master. Tang Xiao accepted Tang San's Blue Silver Grass as evidence of Tang Hao's son and temporarily restrained the sect's efforts against him. His Original-Work World counterpart was distressed by Tang Hao's treatment on the Sky Screen, but initially reasoned that confinement might prevent the ruined man from causing further harm; the exposure of Su Mo's theft of the sect's inheritance angered him. 162 163 231
  • Xiao Wu — A Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbit whom Tang Hao questioned about Ah Yin's fate. He threatened her and later attacked her alongside Su Mo, resenting that she had survived while Ah Yin had not. In the Original-Work World, Xiao Wu concluded that Tang Hao had kept her identity secret because his own wife had also been a transformed Soul Beast. 75 76 233
  • Su Mo — Adversary who deceived Tang Hao into giving up Ah Yin's Soul Bone, imprisoned him to copy his techniques, and ultimately killed him. Tang Hao's techniques and Soul Bones became sources for Su Mo's Self-Created Soul Skills and Soul Bone Cultivation Method. 75 77 90 91 92 231
  • Yu Xiaogang — Tang San's teacher. Tang Hao resented him for taking Tang San to Martial Soul Hall. In the Original-Work World, Yu Xiaogang revealed that Tang Hao had visited him after Tang San entered Nuoding Academy, asked him to care for the boy, and intended to disclose the truth once Tang San was strong enough. 27 232
  • Qian Xunji — Former Pope of Martial Soul Hall whom Tang Hao severely wounded before withdrawing into concealment. 133
  • Tang Lie / Seventh Elder — Clear Sky Sect elder who denounced Tang Hao as a traitor and sect criminal and used that judgment to justify demands that Tang San disband the Tang Sect and cease publicly teaching soul skills. 160 161 162
