The Mangekyō Sharingan granted exceptional powers of observation. From Naruto's appearance, Shisui had already figured out who he was. He was astonished that someone so young had such an enormous amount of chakra, and that his Taijutsu was so exquisitely executed.
"I'll back you up." Shisui no longer had any respect for Danzo. Their former relationship as superior and subordinate had turned into one of bitter enemies. "Be careful. Danzo might use the Sharingan to cast a genjutsu on you."
Naruto nodded. "If I can't beat him, we'll switch places."
The air trembled. Green flames blazed around Naruto's body, and in an instant he was beside Danzo, throwing a punch.
Danzo sneered. "Izanagi!"
Danzo could use Izanagi for sixty seconds.
He thought he had dodged Naruto's attack.
But he was wrong.
Naruto's eyes always saw what was real.
Izanagi could turn damage inflicted on the user, along with any other adverse effects—including death—into a dream, making all attacks during that period ineffective. It could also turn favorable effects, such as the user's attacks, into reality.
It was practically an unbeatable technique. But the system in Naruto's mind shut out all illusions, leaving only reality. No matter how Danzo tried to alter things, his fate was already sealed.
To defeat Naruto, Danzo couldn't use genjutsu. He could only face him head-on with Taijutsu or ninjutsu and beat him so thoroughly he couldn't fight back.
Naruto sent Danzo flying with another punch. Blood streamed from Danzo's nose without stopping.
"This is impossible! Why isn't it working?" Danzo couldn't believe it. "This is the Uchiha Clan's secret technique, the most powerful ocular jutsu. How can it be ineffective?"
After scheming for years to obtain the Uchiha's Sharingan, Danzo couldn't accept that it had become a joke today.
Naruto still couldn't open the Gate of Pain. Opening the first three gates had increased his speed and strength, but not enough to bring about a qualitative change. Even though Danzo was shaken, his wealth of combat experience gave him enough time to dodge a fatal blow.
Naruto soon noticed this. It looked as if he had Danzo on the defensive, but his opening advantage was steadily disappearing.
Danzo quickly gave up on using Izanagi and began attacking Naruto openly with ninjutsu.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave."
Danzo exhaled a sickle-weasel-like gust that engulfed Naruto.
Naruto shielded his head, but his whole body was immediately slashed until blood flowed freely.
Seeing that his attack had worked, Danzo pressed his advantage. "Wood Release: Exploding Spear Tree!"
A sharp tree instantly sprouted from Danzo's right arm and thrust toward Naruto.
Naruto could barely dodge. He still needed more training in the Eight Inner Gates. It was humiliating that a single ninjutsu from an old man could leave him helpless.
"Rasengan!"
Wind-nature chakra was added to the spinning Rasengan, making it spin faster and become sharper.
The tree was ground to pieces.
Danzo shouted, "Minato Namikaze's technique? Who are you?"
"Man! Looks like I can't beat this old guy." Naruto's wounds were healing rapidly. "Shisui, he's all yours. Give it everything you've got and take him down."
By now, Naruto didn't need to deal with the Root members. Under Body Flicker Shisui's genjutsu cast with his Mangekyō Sharingan, Shisui was taking them out one by one.
"Danzo is strong, and he's mastered the Uchiha Clan's secret technique. I might not be able to take him down right away." Shisui formed Hand Seals. "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
A gigantic fireball burst from Shisui's mouth.
Danzo realized his plan had failed. He had taken Shisui's eye by catching him off guard, but he wasn't confident he could face the Mangekyō Sharingan of Shisui Uchiha in a direct fight.
After escaping, Danzo would have to find out who the unexpected person was who had ruined his plan.
Since the person had used Minato Namikaze's signature technique, the Rasengan, Danzo could uncover the truth by investigating those close to Minato.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere!"
A high-pressure, cannonball-like gust pierced the fireball.
Shisui dodged it with the Body Flicker Technique. "Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique!"
Three scorching fire dragons surged toward Danzo.
Danzo crouched. "Summoning Jutsu!"
Poof!
When the smoke cleared, the summoning beast Baku stood in front of Danzo with its mouth wide open.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave." Danzo prepared to flee.
Standing behind them, Naruto watched with interest. "Summoning Jutsu is pretty fun too!"
Shisui's eyes flashed. His Mangekyō Sharingan cast a genjutsu on Baku, leaving it standing motionless.
Danzo threw down a handful of Explosive Tags and fled in a flash.
Boom!
The explosion echoed throughout the Uchiha Clan's residential district.
Shisui grabbed Naruto and carried him away from the center of the blast, but Danzo was gone.
"Shisui, were you going easy on him?" Naruto looked at Shisui. "I even created such a great opportunity for you. He's an old man, and you could've beaten him just by outlasting him! Now you've let him get away. If he hides in the shadows and does bad things, we'll be on the back foot."
Shisui said unwillingly, "He won't get another chance to ambush me. The battle here has drawn the Uchiha Clan's attention, and people are already coming. We have to leave."
"Fine! Carry me. I can't run anymore." Naruto draped himself comfortably over Shisui's back.
Whoosh!
Shisui smiled and left with the Body Flicker Technique.
Shisui's home had one bedroom and one living room. Two outfits identical to the one he wore hung on the balcony, fluttering in the wind.
"You figured out who I am?" Naruto read the answer in Shisui's eyes. "That shouldn't be possible. This disguise is pretty good."
Shisui thanked him. "Naruto, if you hadn't stepped in when you did, I might have died."
Naruto took off his hood, his hair all tangled up. "I was surprised too. I just happened to see that old man beating you up. Even though we barely know each other, I'm kindhearted, so saving you was no trouble."
"Naruto, how do you know the Fourth Hokage's jutsu?" Shisui asked curiously.
Naruto pointed at himself. "Take a good look at me! Don't I look even cooler than the Fourth Hokage?"
Shisui looked closely and realized Naruto bore a strong resemblance to Minato Namikaze. "Could you be the Fourth Hokage's son? This... this is unbelievable."
Naruto looked Shisui in the eye. "Bro, you have to keep this a secret. I'm just a new student at the Ninja Academy, and I'm still weak."
Shisui sighed. "At the same age, you've already surpassed everyone."
Naruto humbly accepted the compliment.
Of course I'm the strongest. The system has everything. If I weren't strong, I'd fail the mission, and the consequences would be awful.
Shisui sat down. "That old man is called Danzo. He's closely connected to the Third Hokage and the village's Council of Elders. He also controls Root. For the sake of his ideals, Danzo can sacrifice anyone and resort to any unscrupulous means."
Naruto asked, "Does he listen to my dad?"
