Background & History

Hashirama Senju and Tobirama Senju led their clans through the Warring States period, founded Konoha, and distributed the Tailed Beasts among the nations. Their actions established Konoha as a major force in the shinobi world. 21

The Senju Compound later fell into disrepair as the clan declined. Its abandoned estate retained a hidden Legacy Scroll containing Hashirama and Tobirama's ninjutsu records and battle experience; the scroll was revealed only after its finder lit the Eternal Lamp and bowed before the brothers' statues. 21 22

The village's political order changed sharply after the Konoha Crush. Tobirama blamed Hiruzen Sarutobi's past mercy toward Orochimaru for the invasion and ordered him to step down. 61 Tsunade eventually returned to the village and accepted the position of Fifth Hokage. 72 74

Konoha Crush

Orochimaru's invasion brought Sound and Sand ninja into Konoha, unleashed the One-Tail Shukaku, and severely damaged the village. Konoha's forces ultimately repelled the invasion after Lin Fan defeated Orochimaru, causing the enemy coalition to collapse. 54 61

Reconstruction and Political Purge

Konoha began reconstructing immediately after the Konoha Crush, using ninjutsu to replace destroyed housing. 62 Danzō's crimes and Root's activities were later exposed; Lin Fan killed Danzō, Tsunade dissolved Root, and Konoha removed its remaining advisors from power. 112 120 121

Three Years of Deterrence

For three years following these events, Konoha grew stronger under Lin Fan's influence. His power deterred the other four great nations in a manner compared to Hashirama Senju's historical influence, preserving a period of peace. 122

Pain's Assault

Pain invaded Konoha and used Super Shinra Tensei to devastate the village. Lin Fan returned in time to confront the Deva Path and later destroyed Planetary Devastation with his Rinnegan. 173 174 Konoha suffered fewer casualties than it otherwise would have due to advance intelligence and Lin Fan's intervention, while Nagato's Rinne Rebirth restored those killed in the attack. 174 176

Five Kage Summit and Allied Forces

Konoha sent Lin Fan rather than Tsunade to represent it at the Five Kage Summit, asserting that the village no longer needed to submit to Kumogakure or Iwagakure's demands. 180 181 After Obito declared war, the Five Great Ninja Villages formed the Shinobi Allied Forces, with Konoha serving as the alliance's headquarters. 187 198

• Lin Fan proposed adding cultural studies to the Ninja Academy after concluding that Konoha needed more well-rounded administrators as well as powerful ninja. 169
