"Good morning, Lord Obito."
"Good morning, Aunt Kobayashi."
On the second day after Obito and Tsunade moved into the villa in the Land of Hot Water, they discovered a problem: there were too many rooms and the yard was too large. They were both lazy, and no one was willing to clean...
Obito suggested hiring some servants. Tsunade agreed, but they had a major disagreement over who to hire. He wanted to hire young women, full of youthful energy. Waking up every day to a lively little maid greeting him would be wonderful...
Tsunade firmly objected and recommended Aunt Kobayashi, who had once worked for the Senju Clan...
Obito called her "Aunt" because that was what Tsunade called her... Given his age, he should probably have called her Grandma Kobayashi...
In the end, Tsunade wore him down with a barrage of sweet words, and Obito gave in. Aunt Kobayashi would handle their meals and manage the servants.
They hired two people from the nearby town in the Land of Hot Water. Both were around thirty, and their looks were nothing worth mentioning—perfectly ordinary. They were responsible for the cleaning.
Obito got up in the morning and went for a jog along a mountain trail. It did little to improve his stamina; the main benefit was the pleasure of it.
The fresh, damp air, the wisps of mist, the burbling stream, and the pleasant birdsong.
He greeted Aunt Kobayashi, took a shower, changed clothes, and went into the bedroom. Tsunade was still fast asleep... She wouldn't get up until the sun was high.
But they'd agreed yesterday to go down the mountain and explore a nearby town today, so he had no choice but to risk his life and wake her.
"Wake up, it's time to get up!"
He called from beside the bed, staying out of Tsunade's reach.
The last time he'd tried to wake her, she'd punched him clear across the room. The memory was still fresh...
"Wake up, it's time for breakfast!"
"Damn it! Stop calling me! Let me sleep for five more minutes," Tsunade grumbled, pulling the covers over her head.
Half an hour later, after being urged to get up for one five-minute stretch after another, she finally rose.
"Aunt Kobayashi's breakfast is still as delicious as ever. It tastes just like it did when I was a child."
After washing up, Tsunade ate breakfast looking like the big sister next door. The violent woman she'd been when she first woke up seemed like someone else entirely.
After breakfast, they each changed into casual clothes. Clothing styles in this world varied widely, but Obito still preferred simple, comfortable modern outfits. They also made him feel at home.
They left the house and followed the mountain trail downhill. After a leisurely half-day walk, they reached the town. It was crowded and lively, and living here, it was hard to sense the cruelty of the ninja world. Most of the people were ordinary civilians who'd come to enjoy the hot springs.
They played claw machines, tossed rings, tried archery, and ate snacks. Like ordinary tourists, they spent the whole afternoon enjoying themselves in town, until they spotted a bar by the roadside at dusk.
Midnight Passion Bar—a name that was enough to set one's imagination running wild. The sun still cast its last rays, but the bar was already drawing a crowd. A man and a woman in uniform stood at the entrance as doormen, both wearing masks. The place had a mysterious air that made them want to take a look inside.
"Hey, we haven't been to a bar in ages. Let's go in for a drink." Tsunade pulled Obito inside.
"Welcome!" the doormen said, bowing.
The bar's decor was quite unusual, with a wild feel to it. All the staff wore uniforms and masks, just like the doormen. Beside the large stage in the middle were several octagonal cages.
Tsunade frowned. The two of them found an empty table and sat down. The bar was already nearly three-quarters full. Some patrons drank in groups, while others sat alone. A railing ran around the second floor, with a row of sofas behind it. That must have been the VIP seating.
Obito and Tsunade drank a few bottles of sake. They were pleasantly tipsy, but not drunk. By then, the bar was packed, and deafening music filled the place!
On the stage, a group of women in skimpy outfits danced wildly, their bodies swaying to the pounding music and rousing the crowd.
"How shameless!" Tsunade set down her glass with a thud, her lovely brows furrowing.
"You're the one who dragged me in here," he said, lifting his glass for a sip.
"Besides, after seeing such beautiful flowers, I have no interest in these weeds!" Obito added.
A life coach on Earth had once said that you should make your girlfriend feel like she was special to you.
Sure enough, Tsunade's furrowed brows relaxed. She gave a huff, but it had no bite...
When the dance ended, a man in a white suit stepped onto the stage with a microphone. A roar of shouts erupted around them.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!"
"The most thrilling moment of the night is almost here! Tonight, we'll crown the ultimate champion!"
The four contenders had already entered the octagonal cage. They were all big men, their muscles rippling, their bodies crisscrossed with scars. They looked like seasoned veterans of many battles, though none of them had chakra. They were ordinary people.
"Place your bets!" After introducing the four fighters by name, nickname, and record, the host displayed their odds on a large screen above the cage.
"I'm betting one million ryo on Gorilla King!" a heavyset middle-aged woman shouted from the second-floor seats.
"I'm betting one and a half million ryo on Skola!"
"I'm betting..."
"They sure have money to burn," Tsunade said, shaking her head.
"Want to bet? We've got plenty of money," Obito said, acting like a rich tycoon.
"No. I'm not interested in this kind of gambling."
"All right, I don't like it either. Shall we go?" Obito said in agreement.
"Let's finish this drink first. It'd be a waste otherwise," Tsunade said.
At the sound of a bell, the four men launched into a bloody brawl. Their blows landed with bone-crunching force, and before long, blood was spurting from their bodies. The sight of it got the spectators—or perhaps gamblers—worked up. They acted like they were high, especially the people on the second floor, who were shouting at the top of their lungs. The crowd roared, "Kill him! Kill him!"
The line between human nature and animal instinct was a blurry one.
Obito shifted to put himself between Tsunade and the cage. It didn't do much, but instinctively, he didn't want her to see this.
Tsunade wasn't very interested, so Obito began idly observing the people around him. That was when he spotted something unusual!
Several people were constantly weaving through the packed crowd, taking packets of white powder from their pockets and passing them around...
What the heck was that? Did they have this kind of stuff in the Naruto World too?
They all wore necklaces with a triangle set inside a circle! Wasn't that the same kind of necklace Hidan wore?
The Evil God Cult!
