Background / History

Qin Yanan was discovered as an infant on the mysterious bronze coffin on Ye Sijin’s birthday. Qin Peng had his eldest grandson adopt her; as she grew older, her resemblance to Ye Sijin became undeniable. Her prior-life memories were sealed, and Qin Peng and Liu Chang’an agreed that she should be allowed to live as Qin Yanan rather than be forcibly awakened as Ye Sijin. 242

Raised as Qin Peng’s great-granddaughter, she was initially sent to Junsha to deliver a massive Phoenix Attacking Dragon bronze coffin to Liu Chang’an and to maintain contact with him. Though outwardly polite, she initially considered him shallow and looked down on his living conditions. 8

An arranged engagement between Qin Yanan and Liu Chang’an was later discussed and mutually rejected. Qin Yanan came to understand that Liu Chang’an’s reluctance stemmed from her resemblance to Ye Sijin, rather than any judgment of her appearance. 40
