Appearance
Kujo Tachibana's appearance changes with each reincarnation, though several traits recur throughout his lives: an exceptional physique, unusually powerful senses, and a Demon Slayer Mark or its later blue, lightning-associated variant. In his Demon Slayer life, he possessed long black hair and wielded paired Nichirin blades. By his One Piece life, his physique grew abnormally large, reaching 2.3 meters at age fifteen and later possessing both a 2.5-meter normal state and a 3.6-meter combat form 63 118.
In the Shinobi World, Tachibana was born with blue eyes recognized as a Kekkei Genkai. These eyes manipulate electrical energy and magnetic fields, while his body can absorb electrical energy to replenish itself 146 147. In Soul Society, his Bankai Second Stage causes his white hair to rise without wind, his blue eyes to display data-like streams of light, and his Demon Slayer Mark to glow prominently 220 221.
In his current Saiyan incarnation, Tachibana can transform into a Great Ape and Super Saiyan forms. His Super Saiyan 4 form gives him longer, disheveled dark hair, red fur across most of his body, red eye markings, and an intensely bestial aura 299 331. When combining divine powers, white radiance spreads across his body and alters the coloration of his Super Saiyan 4 features 332 334.
- Hair: Long black hair in his Demon Slayer life; white, wind-lifted hair in Infinity Overload Mode; dark and disheveled hair in Super Saiyan 4 8 221 331.
- Eyes: Blue Kekkei Genkai eyes capable of manipulating electricity and magnetism; appear filled with data-like light in Infinity Overload Mode 147 220.
- Build: Exceptional constitution in all incarnations; possessed a 2.3-meter frame by age fifteen in the One Piece world and later developed larger combat forms 63 118.
- Notable features: Demon Slayer Mark; Saiyan tail, later concealed through Yardrat techniques; red Super Saiyan 4 fur 146 309 331.
- Notable equipment: Nichirin swords, Thunder Dragon, Zanpakutō Infinity, Marine uniform, Galactic Patrol equipment, and the Golden Flash spacecraft 17 76 206 310 317.
Personality
Kujo Tachibana’s personality is a layered blend of ruthless pragmatism, unwavering self-discipline, and an undercurrent of theatrical confidence. At his core, he is survival-driven and values efficiency and results over sentiment, yet he is capable of mercy, mentorship, and deep loyalty. His numerous past lives gave him a relentless drive to improve, although they also burdened him with trauma and a fear of wasting the limited time available to him.
Ruthlessness and Pragmatism: Kujo eliminates threats decisively when he believes restraint would endanger him or others. He killed CP9 agents Asiri and Lux after they attempted to rob and frame him, burned his own house, and fled Loguetown to avoid provoking the World Government prematurely 57. In his Saiyan life, he selected useful captured pirates for his crew and killed those who refused his rule 302.
Mercy Within Justice: Kujo is capable of calculated restraint. He beat Kaigaku for theft and permanently damaged the thief’s Thunder Breathing technique, but deliberately spared his life and took him to a clinic 3. Later, as a Galactic Patrol officer, he committed himself to fighting criminals while deliberately avoiding interference in Son Goku’s formative battle with Frieza 310 327.
Calm and Composed Under Pressure: During his encounter with Akaza and Kokushibo, he remained composed despite facing Upper Moon-level opponents 28 32. His Saiyan instincts and severe injuries also failed to disrupt his focus during his battle against Lux, as he continued fighting with complete concentration 301.
Confidence and Calculated Arrogance: Kujo openly boasts when it suits him, claiming that his own power—not merely a Breathing Style—is what makes a technique powerful 45. He called himself beyond the former peak of the Demon Slayer world after recovering and displayed similar confidence when confronting Marine, Soul Society, and galactic powers 46 133 317.
Adaptability and Innovation: Kujo constantly combines systems from different worlds. He merged Sword Heart Clarity with Observation Haki, considered combining Soru and Geppo with air-compression knowledge, and later used Yardrat Spirit Control to expand his ki techniques 60 73 309. He consciously limits his reliance on Instant Transmission in battle to avoid becoming complacent 314.
Dedication and Mentorship: He taught Himejima Gyomei the Kujo Clan’s Sword Heart Clarity technique solely because it could help Gyomei save more people 13. He also taught the 4th Division his self-created Mystical Palm Blade Technique and helped several Universe 6 Saiyans awaken Super Saiyan forms 210 334.
Theatrical and Manipulative: Kujo uses performance to control social situations. He convincingly feigned innocence after accidentally seeing Koshiro’s mistress 59, and he deliberately delivered an excessively long graduation speech at Shinō Academy to irritate Yamamoto while studying the captains in attendance 207.
Driven by Self-Acceptance and Growth: For much of his existence, Kujo considered himself a short-lived person and feared wasting time 45. After restoring nearly all of his soul trauma, he finally recognized that his former Blue Star self—the corporate worker who endured hardship without becoming extraordinary—was also part of his strength. This acceptance completed the healing that Reishi alone could not achieve 225.
Background
Blue Star (Original World)
Kujo Tachibana's original life began on Blue Star, where he lived as an ordinary corporate worker and eventually died from cancer 225. His illness shaped his later obsession with physical health and strength. After experiencing several reincarnations, he eventually understood that his former self was not worthless: enduring life’s burdens despite an unremarkable existence was itself a form of strength 225.
Demon Slayer World
Kujo Tachibana was reborn during the Taishō era as the son of Kujo Kai, in what remained of the declining Kujo Clan 1. The clan had once been significant in Japan but had dwindled to Tachibana, his father, and their old estate after swords lost relevance to firearms and social change 1. Tachibana trained obsessively from childhood, mastering the family’s Iaijutsu by age ten and awakening Sword Heart Clarity at fourteen—the youngest person in clan history to do so 1.
After killing the demon Rokuro and entering the Demon Slayer Corps, he learned Thunder Breathing from Kuwajima Jigoro. He rapidly became the Rumble Hashira and developed the original six Thunder Breathing forms into nine 10 20. His annual record included eighty-six demon kills and four slain Twelve Kizuki, leading to his legend as the “Pot-Carrying Swordsman” wielding Evil Slayer and Soul Suppressor 17.
His battle with Kokushibo established him as one of the era’s strongest swordsmen. Tachibana used Thunder Breathing, the Transparent World, and Evil Slayer’s electrical properties to force Kokushibo to use his full power for the first time in more than three centuries 32. Though left grievously wounded, he later recovered beyond his prior peak and demonstrated his strength by splitting a waterfall with Thunder Breathing 46.
Tachibana participated in the final conflict against Muzan and Kokushibo, where he killed Nakime, wounded Muzan, and dealt the decisive blow against Kokushibo 51. After his death, he was reborn into the One Piece world 225.
One Piece World
In his One Piece life, Tachibana began in Loguetown and used Thunder Breathing to strengthen his new body 52. After killing CP9 agents who targeted him, he escaped to Shimotsuki Village and became Shimotsuki Koshiro’s disciple at Isshin Dojo 57. Koshiro forced him to develop genuine Observation Haki by denying him reliance on his existing sensory advantages and ambushing him 519 times over two months 60.
Tachibana later entered the Marines under Sengoku’s protection. Though his true age was fifteen, Sengoku had him claim to be twenty-five and publicly presented him as a long-lost nephew from East Blue 70. Zephyr trained him in the Six Powers, while his victory over Onigumo led to an early promotion to Vice Admiral, command of G2, and the codename “Azure Dragon” 73 76.
His strength continued escalating until he became a Marine Admiral after eliminating the Big Mom Pirates 133. He killed the Five Elders in a single attack at Mary Geoise before confronting Imu, whose power was sufficient to block his assault 136. Tachibana ultimately fought Azazel, killed him with Thunder Dragon and Colorless Haki, and helped bring the conflict between the Navy and World Government to an end before dying and reincarnating again 144.
Shinobi World
Kujo Tachibana was reborn in the Shinobi World seven years after the First Shinobi World War 144. As an infant, he recognized the Naruto universe and found that Infinity had degraded because his previous Haki-based physical foundation had vanished 146. He also discovered that ninjas possessed strong mental power, making his mental-pressure abilities less effective 146.
His body retained a blue Demon Slayer Mark and lightning-related abilities. His blue eyes were recognized as a Kekkei Genkai capable of manipulating electrical energy and magnetic fields, while his body could absorb electrical energy and convert it into physical energy 146 147. Sarutobi Hiruzen examined him and praised his constitution, suggesting he would be suited to Hatake sword techniques 147.
Over the course of this life, Tachibana reached the peak of the Shinobi World, traveled the star seas for tens of thousands of years, and defeated the strongest beings in that universe before moving on to another reincarnation 225.
Soul Society and Hueco Mundo Kingdom
In his next life, Tachibana entered Soul Society as a Rukongai resident and enrolled in Shinō Academy. He achieved Shikai immediately upon receiving his Asauchi, awakening the Zanpakutō Infinity, and defeated Byakuya Kuchiki despite Byakuya’s Shikai 206. Although Yamamoto and other divisions sought to recruit him, he chose the 4th Division because of his interest in Kaidō and a peaceful medical life 206 207.
He created the Kaidō-Mystical Palm Blade Technique and taught it to the 4th Division. Under Unohana Retsu’s guidance, he became recognized as the strongest Soul Reaper below captain rank, while secretly developing his Bankai and healing his soul trauma 210. He aided Byakuya and Kisuke Urahara in creating a Soul Orb that stabilized Hisana Kuchiki’s soul 214.
Seeking greater Reishi density, Tachibana left Soul Society for Hueco Mundo 217. He defeated Barragan Luisenbarn, became king of Hueco Mundo, completed Hollowfication, and restored his soul trauma to 99.999% through Reishi absorption 224. He later realized that the final incomplete portion was not damage at all, but a failure to accept his Blue Star self; this realization completed his healing 225.
Tachibana defeated Yamamoto after a three-day battle by using Infinite World to summon simulations of his former selves 227. He subsequently led Hueco Mundo’s invasion of Soul Society, opening an enormous Garganta and openly challenging Aizen’s preparations 228.
Jujutsu Kaisen World
Kujo Tachibana was reborn as Zenin Tachibana within the Zenin clan 231. His father, Zenin Ogi, considered his initial Cursed Energy talent disappointing, while Naobito believed the boy could still become an excellent sorcerer 231. Tachibana regarded the world’s Cursed Energy as unpleasantly weak and began assessing the clan’s hierarchy, inherited techniques, and the significance of the Six Eyes 231.
Dragon Ball World
In a later reincarnation, Kujo Tachibana was born as a Saiyan. At age three, he transformed into a Great Ape and defeated the cosmic pirate leader Lux, reaching a power level of approximately 11,000 in normal form and 110,000 as a Great Ape 302. His Saiyan S-Cells developed rapidly, but Master Roshi’s teachings and Tachibana’s disciplined mentality allowed him to retain control rather than succumb to Saiyan battle instincts 302.
He spent three years training on Earth, studying ki use under numerous martial artists, including Master Roshi and the Crane Hermit 307. He then trained on Planet Yardrat for three years under Grand Elder Pybara, mastering 108 Spirit Control techniques, including Instant Transmission, Forced Spirit Fission, and cloning 309. By age eleven, he possessed a power level of 1,690,000 309.
Tachibana joined the Galactic Patrol to train in martial arts while fighting crime 310. In the following three years, he eliminated more than half of Universe 7’s top 500 wanted criminals, including King Cold, and became recognized as Universe 7’s number one expert 317. His actions awakened Beerus early and prompted Frieza to hide and cultivate himself for revenge 317.
After developing Super Saiyan forms, Tachibana traveled to Universe 6, battled Hit, and awakened Super Saiyan 4 under extreme pressure 327 331. Training under Champa and Vados allowed him to combine Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego into a silver-white divine power, surpassing Vados and reaching a state no longer measurable by conventional battle power 334. He declined an invitation to train in the Divine Realm because of the danger posed by Zeno and continued exploring other universes 334.
Powers and Abilities
Sword Heart Clarity
Sword Heart Clarity is a sixth sense achieved through the Kujo Clan's ancestral sword training. Kujo Tachibana reached this realm at age fourteen, making him the youngest in the clan's history to do so 1. It allows him to detect threats, observe environmental details without blind spots, and, with focus, perceive the internal structure of objects 13. Its range and precision grew through training, eventually extending to 300 meters during Final Selection 20.
- Achieved Sword Heart Clarity at age fourteen, a Kujo Clan record 1.
- Created through Five Senses Enhanced Sword Training 1.

Breathing Styles
Kujo Tachibana is a prodigious Breathing Style user. Though initially familiar with Water Breathing, he switched to Thunder Breathing after Kuwajima Jigoro identified it as more suited to him 10. He mastered the style after witnessing it once and expanded its original six forms to nine 10 20.
- Learned Thunder Breathing after a single demonstration 10.

- Thunder Breathing 4.0 greatly improved his ki absorption efficiency in his Saiyan life 319.
Demon Slayer Mark
The Demon Slayer Mark greatly enhances the user’s physical ability but normally shortens lifespan. Tachibana initially understood how to activate it but avoided doing so until necessary 25 30. In later incarnations, the mark mutated into a blue, lightning-related phenomenon and became connected to his electrical-energy abilities 142 146.
- Activated against Upper Moon-level opponents 30.

Key Battles
Vs. Rokuro (Peace Town) – Kujo Tachibana’s first recorded demon battle took place in Peace Town. Using Kujo Clan Iaijutsu, he severed Rokuro’s arm and foot before deliberately retreating into the woods to restrict the demon’s mobility and protect civilians 5. The battle led to Tachibana’s awakening of the Transparent World and marked the beginning of his Demon Slayer career 7 11.
Vs. Akaza and Kokushibo (Asakusa Outskirts) – Tachibana faced Akaza and Kokushibo, using the Transparent World to negate Akaza’s Compass and Thunder Breathing to disrupt Kokushibo’s Moon Breathing 28 32. Though severely wounded, he forced Kokushibo to use his full power for the first time in three centuries 32.
Vs. Kokushibo and Kibutsuji Muzan (Final Battle) – During the decisive battle, Tachibana killed Nakime, wounded Muzan, and defeated Kokushibo with a decisive strike 51. The battle ended the centuries-long threat posed by the Upper Moon One and heavily restricted Muzan’s ability to escape.
Vs. Onigumo (Marineford) – Tachibana fought Vice Admiral Onigumo above Marine Headquarters and defeated the Eight-Sword Style user with a single blade 75. The victory led directly to Tachibana’s promotion to Vice Admiral and command of G2 76.
Vs. Shiki – Tachibana awakened Conqueror’s Haki during his battle with Shiki, immediately developed Advanced Conqueror’s coating, and defeated Shiki with a single Thunder Dragon slash 87.
Vs. Unohana Retsu (Soul Society) – Tachibana defeated the 4th Division captain with one strike empowered by Reiatsu, will, and spirit 216. The released Reiatsu alarmed powerful figures across Soul Society and revealed the depth of his hidden combat ability 216.
Vs. Soul Society Arrest Squad (Hueco Mundo) – Kisuke Urahara led five other captains to arrest Tachibana in Hueco Mundo. In Infinity Overload Mode, Tachibana copied their Bankai, defeated Chojiro, Rojuro, Urahara, and Ukitake, trapped Yoruichi in Hado #90: Kurohitsugi, and forced Shunsui to withdraw 221 222.
Vs. Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni – Tachibana fought the Captain-Commander for three days, using Infinite World to summon simulations of his former selves until Yamamoto was exhausted and defeated 227.
Vs. Lux (Saiyan World) – As a three-year-old Saiyan, Tachibana defeated Lux, a cosmic pirate leader, despite Lux’s superior initial power. The battle demonstrated Tachibana’s extraordinary Saiyan adaptation and culminated in Lux’s self-destruction rather than revealing information about Planet Namek 301 302.
Vs. Hit (Universe 6) – Tachibana fought the assassin Hit across a destroyed planet and open space. Hit improved his Time-Skip to 0.5 seconds, forcing Tachibana to awaken Super Saiyan 4 and later begin fusing Ultra Instinct with Ultra Ego 331 332. Though Tachibana could have overwhelmed Hit with raw power, he deliberately used the battle to improve his techniques 333.
Relationships
Himejima Gyomei
Kujo Tachibana recognized Gyomei’s extraordinary sensory potential when the blind swordsman drove Ubuyashiki Kagaya’s carriage with apparent ease 11. He taught Gyomei Sword Heart Clarity to help him develop a sixth sense and save more lives 13. Tachibana’s decision to share a rare clan technique without demanding compensation demonstrated both his generosity and belief in Gyomei’s potential.
Shimotsuki Koshiro
Shimotsuki Koshiro became Tachibana’s master during his One Piece life after Tachibana fled Loguetown for Shimotsuki Village 57. Koshiro recognized Tachibana’s immense talent but also saw that he depended too heavily on inherited sensory advantages. His 519 ambushes and eventual battle with Tachibana became the catalyst for Observation Haki’s awakening 60. Koshiro later urged Tachibana to leave Shimotsuki Village and seek growth in the wider world 64.
Sengoku
Sengoku became Tachibana’s Marine guardian after discovering that the extraordinarily powerful recruit was only fifteen 70. He fabricated a new identity for Tachibana, declared him a long-lost nephew, and protected his place within the Marines 70. Sengoku later promoted him to Vice Admiral, entrusted him with G2, and eventually elevated him to Admiral 76 133.
Hina
Hina served as Tachibana’s deputy in the G2 Marine Branch 76. Their relationship began during Zephyr’s training camp, where Hina kept Tachibana focused during classes and displayed concern for him 73. Tachibana later trusted her enough to confess his secrets and promise that he would return before his death in the One Piece world 144.
Unohana Retsu
Unohana Retsu was Tachibana’s Kaidō mentor and one of his closest Soul Society confidantes. Tachibana taught her his Mystical Palm Blade Technique, while she taught him established Kaidō methods 210. He trusted her enough to reveal his overwhelming strength in their duel, where he defeated her in one strike 216. When he left Soul Society for Hueco Mundo, Unohana was the person to whom he personally said goodbye 217.
Byakuya Kuchiki
Tachibana’s relationship with Byakuya began as a rivalry after he defeated Byakuya at Shinō Academy 206. Byakuya subsequently challenged him monthly in order to develop his Bankai 210. Tachibana later helped save Hisana Kuchiki by diagnosing her soul condition, recruiting Urahara, and helping develop the Soul Orb 213 214.
Kisuke Urahara
Tachibana and Urahara collaborated to save Hisana Kuchiki through the creation of the Soul Orb 214. Urahara admired Tachibana’s intellect and later became deeply suspicious of Tachibana’s apparent foreknowledge of Aizen’s schemes 225. Their relationship survived even the Soul Society arrest attempt, with Urahara recognizing Tachibana’s resolve and seeking to understand his goals rather than simply condemn him 221 225.
Sōsuke Aizen
Tachibana was wary of Aizen from their earliest interactions and deliberately refused his attempts at recruitment 208. He warned Aizen not to harm his friends, revealing that he understood more of Aizen’s nature than he openly admitted 214. Tachibana monitored Aizen’s schemes but chose not to act immediately because he did not consider himself an agent of Central 46 and believed his own growth would eventually surpass Aizen’s ambitions 214 225.
Grand Elder Pybara
Pybara became Tachibana’s primary Yardrat mentor. Under Pybara and the Yardratians, Tachibana mastered Spirit Control and 108 techniques in three years 309. Pybara encouraged him not to limit Spirit Control with fixed assumptions and reminded him that anything was possible through sufficient mastery 309.
Champa and Vados
Champa and Vados trained Tachibana after his conflict with Hit drew their attention 331 334. Vados guided him in merging Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego, though Tachibana eventually surpassed her ability to instruct him further 334. Tachibana left them on good terms but refused Vados’s proposal that he train in the Divine Realm due to his distrust of Zeno 334.
