Background / History

Black arrived in the Marvel Universe through Dragon God Salma’s trial and lived in the body of Blake Thorne, an orphan abandoned at Saint Paul Orphanage. The orphanage’s new director attempted to assault him; Black killed the man while defending himself and fled the institution. 340

Soon afterward, three traffickers lured Black to Gilad Orphanage, a front for organ trafficking and human-remains processing. He used his Infinity Perception System to uncover the operation, massacred its armed staff and administrator Joyce, reported the site to emergency services, and escaped with the criminals’ hidden funds. 341 342

He settled at 21 Ingram Street in Queens, becoming the Parker family’s neighbor. Four years later, he attended Midtown School of Science and Technology alongside Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, and Mary Jane. 342 343

Appearance

Black is an Asian-@@REF_ENTITY_12179448@@merican youth with a physically trained build and an unusually mature, composed bearing for his apparent age. By the Hulk incident, he is seventeen years old. 343 353

  • Bright eyes described as carrying both vitality and an elder-like calm. 343
  • Maintains an athletic physique through constant training. 343 354
  • Develops a purple-and-gold lightning mark at the center of his brow after awakening Destruction and Order. 357
  • Uses a compact black space-survival armor that folds into a belt when inactive. 354

Personality

Black is independent, guarded, and difficult to intimidate. He conceals the nature of his powers, rejects attempts by S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers to place him under their command, and prefers a quiet life unless a threat forces his involvement. 346 353 360

He is pragmatic and strategic rather than conventionally heroic. He protects people he considers innocent or worthwhile—such as Tony Stark, Dr. Yinsen, Ben Parker, and Earth’s civilians—but is merciless toward traffickers, terrorists, Hydra operatives, and other people he judges irredeemably evil. 341 345 358 359

Despite his overwhelming power, Black continues pursuing new disciplines. He studies Asgardian cultivation, Kamar-Taj magic, cosmic travel, and the Infinity Stones rather than relying solely on physical strength. 355 356 365 377

Abilities & Skills

Infinity Perception System

Black’s primary sensory ability lets him inspect targets, scan environments, and process information on a massive scale.

  • Detects Gilad Orphanage’s hidden trafficking operation from outside the building. 341
  • Functions as an “Infinity Radar” during the Afghanistan rescue. 345
  • Lets him coordinate more than 1,300 magical clones across the merged Marvel–DC world. 362
  • Provides the awareness needed to identify threats and act before conventional forces can react. 353 359

Martial Arts and Physical Cultivation

Black combines Breathing Style body conditioning, ki, and extensive combat knowledge carried over from other worlds.

  • Deflects Iron Man’s armored punch without injuring Tony. 345
  • Kills armed terrorists in close combat before they can react. 345
  • Defeats Hulk and Abomination with one punch each, launching Hulk into the upper atmosphere. 353
  • Trains under 100 times Earth’s gravity and reaches a quantified power level of 250,000. 354
  • Can fire destructive ki blasts from his palms. 354
  • Remains wary of Hulk’s true potential despite defeating him in their initial encounter. 354

Instant Transmission

Black can teleport himself and others across vast distances.

  • Moves through Afghanistan faster than Tony and Dr. Yinsen can comprehend. 346
  • Teleports Tony to the Sahara for an armor test. 354
  • Travels directly to Asgard and retrieves objects from distant planets. 364 374
  • His Marvel-world body cannot naturally survive in space, making protective equipment necessary for extended vacuum exposure. 354

Destruction and Order

After absorbing multiversal energy, Black awakens a purple-and-gold power he names Destruction and Order.

  • Produces a universe-wide manifestation of phantom lightning. 357
  • Connects Black to two unknown dimensions composed entirely of lightning. 357
  • Greatly raises his overall power, though he remains cautious of unfamiliar rule-based abilities. 357
  • Enhances his magical reserves enough to support over 1,300 powerful clones simultaneously. 362

Magic

The Ancient One teaches Black Kamar-Taj magic after recognizing his exceptional spiritual power and pure soul. 355 356

  • Masters portal magic after seeing it demonstrated once. 358

  • Uses mind-control magic to dominate Hydra soldiers, including the Winter Soldier, and takes over Hydra’s New York branch. 359
  • Enhances Tony Stark’s armor with levitation, defensive arrays, emergency teleportation, and a destructive-energy warblade. 359
  • His experiment with time magic accidentally causes a dimensional overlap that merges the Marvel and DC universes. 361 362

Soul Rule Power

Black acquires soul-based rule power through the Soul Stone’s failed attempt to possess him.

  • Detaches his soul from his body to bypass Vormir’s sacrifice trial. 376
  • Resists foreign memories while preserving his own identity. 376
  • Absorbs the Soul Stone’s consciousness and gains initial command of soul rule power. 377
  • Learns that Dragon God Salma intended to use his soul as an anchor for resurrection. 377
