Qiangu Zhangting belongs to the family dominating the Spirit Pagoda. Qiangu Dieting brought the family to prominence through his quasi-god strength, while Zhangting’s grandfather, Qiangu Dongfeng, consolidated its political influence as Pagoda Master. Dongfeng regards Zhangting as the family’s future hope; Zhangting identifies himself as its sole heir 15 18 20.

Before meeting Luo Yang, Zhangting unsuccessfully attempted to subdue a mutant Titan Giant Ape spirit possessing Golden Behemoth bloodline. Despite preparing rare resources and trying numerous methods, he failed to secure its submission 14.

• Wears luxurious soul master robes when introduced during the spirit beast riot 15.

Personality

Zhangting is possessive, arrogant, and quick to interpret rejection as humiliation. He treats the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff as his property merely because he wants it, threatens Luo Yang despite Leng Yaozhu’s protection, and assumes his grandfather will support him against other Spirit Pagoda authorities 17 18.

His confidence depends heavily on family power. When defeated, he invokes his status as sole heir and begs Dongfeng for protection. He initially dismisses the Blood God Legion as an obscure backwater force, prompting his grandfather to explain its military strength and importance 18 19.

Criticism of his talent is a particular vulnerability. Nanali’s mockery of his slow cultivation enrages him, but fear keeps him outwardly deferential. His apparent obedience to Dongfeng likewise conceals resentment: after agreeing to avoid Luo Yang, he privately resolves to continue the feud 20 27.

• Confrontation with Luo Yang: After Luo Yang successfully contracts the escaped beast, Zhangting storms the Testing Chamber with guards and demands it. The guards refuse his order to seize Luo Yang because Leng Yaozhu openly supports the child 16 17.
