Background / History

The Black Empress Clan is an obscure and rarely encountered Abyssal race. The Blood God Legion possesses only limited intelligence on it, much of which was acquired at the cost of earlier soldiers' lives. Its members seldom appear during ordinary Abyss Tides. 5

The clan's ruler, the Black Empress, appeared as a demigod-level projection during an Abyss Tide and identified herself as the Ninth Abyss King and master of the clan. Despite having less than half of her true body's strength, she overwhelmed the Blood Gods and killed Blood Eight before retreating. 2

After Luo Yang awakened the god-level Undead Scourge martial soul, the Black Empress recognized him as a future threat to the Abyss Plane. Before withdrawing, she marked him with the clan's hereditary curse, apparently reserving him as a future mate due to his extraordinary potential. 3 5

Characteristics

• Its transformed members are described as exceptionally beautiful by human standards, though their appearance masks their Abyssal nature. 2 5

The clan's innate talent manifests through expanding black hair that becomes a black-hole-like vortex.

• Devours matter, light, rubble, debris, and scattered soul power. 2
• Converts absorbed energy into strength for its user. 2
• Can forcibly extract opponents' soul power and erode defensive formations. 2
• A projection of the Black Empress used it to suppress several Blood Gods despite possessing under half of her true strength. 2

Curse of the Black Emperor

A racial curse fired as an intangible black arrow that bypasses conventional defenses and embeds itself in the target's soul. 3 5

• Causes the afflicted male's desires to increase continuously over time. 5 6
• Cannot be detected through ordinary examinations of the body, soul power, or mental fluctuations. 5
• Has no known cure in the Blood God Legion's records. 6
• The curse can be temporarily suppressed through union with the Black Empress who cast it, but this does not remove it. 5
• Attempts to suppress it through other partners have failed; one recorded Title Douluo eventually died from the backlash. 6
• Recorded victims either died when their bodies and souls failed under the accumulating effect or became controlled breeding tools of the clan. 5
• The clan may mark young males with exceptional potential as “future crown princes” or exclusive mates. 5
