Background
Luo Yang's early history is defined by his upbringing within the Blood God Legion, a consequence of his parents' death. Though the circumstances of their demise are not explicitly detailed, their absence left him under the protection of the Blood God Council, a group of nine powerful soul masters who manned the front lines against the Abyss Plane in the Endless Mountain Range 1 2. From the age of six, Luo Yang was raised within the legion, forming a particularly close bond with Blood Eight, a tall, muscular woman who treated him as her own son — a relationship she would later describe as nurturing a "fresh, tender little cabbage" 5 12. His early life was spent in the harsh environment of the Abyss frontier, where the Blood Gods oversaw his growth and noted his exceptional potential 1 3 5.
This potential became undeniable when Luo Yang autonomously awakened his martial soul during an Abyss Tide, revealing a god-level martial soul, the Undead Heavenly Monarch 2 3. The awakening triggered the Plane Blessing, an immense surge of energy from the Douluo Continent's origin power, which both demonstrated his extraordinary talent and drew the attention of the Abyss 3 6. Shortly thereafter, he was struck by the Curse of the Black Emperor, a racial ability from a demigod-level Abyssal King that marked him as a future mate and threatened to overwhelm him with uncontrollable urges 5. The Blood God Council, led by Commander Zhang Huanyun, recognized that Luo Yang's safety was compromised: the Abyss Holy Monarch would likely target him, and the front line was no place for such a prodigy 6. They convened and reached a consensus to send him to the safest and most resource-rich location available — the Spirit Pagoda headquarters in Shrek City 6 7.
The decision to entrust Luo Yang to Leng Yaozhu, the Vice Tower Master of the Spirit Pagoda, was deliberate. Leng Yaozhu was an old family friend of Luo Yang's deceased parents, with whom she shared a close personal friendship 6 12. The Blood Gods considered her upright, reliable, and capable of providing the best environment for his learning and growth 7. Blood Eight, though emotionally conflicted, personally escorted Luo Yang to Shrek City, where Leng Yaozhu greeted them warmly, remarking that Luo Yang's eyes were exactly like his mother's and embracing him with nostalgia and sorrow 12. Thus, Luo Yang's background moved from the bloody front lines of the Abyss to the towering halls of the Spirit Pagoda, where his extraordinary upbringing would continue under new guardianship 7 12.
Following his victory in the Spirit Pagoda–Shrek Academy exchange, Luo Yang acquired a small plane formerly inhabited by the Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python. Bibi Dong placed his soul imprint at the plane's core, granting him complete authority to enter and leave it, store objects within it, and develop it as private territory 46. He subsequently forced the immortal herbs of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well into submission, transferred the entire well into the small plane, and expanded the plane's area by several times 50 52. The immortal herbs relocated there after recognizing the plane as a more suitable environment 52.
Appearance
Luo Yang is a youth of striking appearance, characterized by a calm and composed demeanor that belies his age. He has a slender yet well-proportioned build, with a physique that hints at exceptional physical conditioning, as his fitness was rated A+ on par with a three-ring Soul Elder 13. His facial features are described as "excessively exquisite," giving him a handsome and refined look 45. In his everyday state, he has black hair and black eyes 36. However, his appearance can shift dramatically when he channels his martial soul or domain, with his eyes turning a pure, deep blood-red 2 7 33. Most notably, after receiving the Phoenix True Fire from Leng Yaozhu, a small, dark-gold phoenix mark appeared in the center of his forehead, about the size of a fingernail, which radiates a faint, lingering warmth and suits him well 47. Additionally, he was branded with a curse mark by the Black Emperor, though its specific visual appearance is not detailed 5.
During his martial soul awakening, pale bone armor covered his body, threaded with living dark-gold patterns, while a dark-red spectral sword with an interlocking bone crossguard formed behind him 2.
- Eye color: Normally black; turns pure blood-red when using his martial soul or Calamity Domain 2 7 33 36.
- Hair: Black 36.
- Build: Slender and athletic, with a physique capable of matching a three-ring Soul Master in physical strength alone 13.
- Distinguishing marks: A dark-gold phoenix mark, about the size of a fingernail, on the center of his forehead, received from the Leng Family's Phoenix True Fire inheritance 47. He also bears a curse mark from the Black Emperor, but its exact appearance is not described 5.
- Martial soul manifestation: Pale bone armor, dark-gold patterns, blood-red eyes, and a dark-red Undead Bone Sword manifestation 2 43.
Personality
- Composed and calm under pressure: Luo Yang consistently maintains an unflappable demeanor, even in high-stakes combat. During his match against Ye Xinglan, he remained calm and composed throughout the fight, offering constructive criticism 43. After winning the tournament, his face showed no arrogance after victory, only a calm, water-like composure 45. He later remains entirely composed while a Tang Sect Title Douluo interrogates and pressures him over the disappearance of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well 57.
- Confident and self-assured: Luo Yang carries an unwavering sense of self-worth. When challenged by the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff’s mental assault, he releases an indescribable will, a more magnificent and overbearing declaration of existence 16. He rejects the Titan Giant Ape spirit soul by stating its bloodline level is too low 14, and when Qiangu Zhangting demands he hand over the contracted spirit, Luo Yang simply laughs and says, "As of now, it is mine" 17.
- Strategic and decisive: He thinks several steps ahead and acts with clear purpose. He demonstrates strategic thinking and decisiveness in handling the Qiangu Family issue 38 and calculates his moves on the Spirit Ascension Platform, planning to take everything he could get his hands on 48. He secretly transfers the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well into his small plane, intending to use its resources for his own cultivation and future forces 52 53.
- Understanding and accepting of others: Luo Yang shows deep empathy for those marginalized by society. When he reveals his own Evil Martial Soul to Yuanen Yehui, he tells her: "A martial soul is merely a tool... What truly defines good and evil is the person using the power and the way they go about their business" 24. He then expresses his desire to befriend her, helping her overcome mistrust.
- Mature and wise beyond his years: Despite his youth, Luo Yang displays maturity that impresses others. Leng Yaozhu notes he did not need looking after and was clearer-headed and stronger than anyone else 47. He also guides Ye Xinglan with philosophical insight, asking, "For what purpose do you swing your sword?" — a question that enables her breakthrough 43.
- Discerning and prideful in standards: He has high expectations for himself and others. He deems the Titan Giant Ape too weak 14, and when Xiao Yan challenges him directly, he declines, showing disdain for Xiao Yan's request 42. His choice to fight Ye Xinglan personally — "Because you are strong" 43 — underscores his respect for genuine talent.
- Grateful and respectful to allies: Luo Yang values the support he receives and shows appreciation. He expresses gratitude to Leng Yaozhu for her kindness 19 and treats her like a nephew, showing respect and affection 25. He also acts as a supportive senior brother to Yuanen Yehui, encouraging her to accept Leng Yaozhu's mentorship.
- Ambitious and secretive: Luo Yang seeks to accumulate every available advantage, including historical powerhouses, soul-beast resources, immortal herbs, and planar territory. Though he shares the secret of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well's relocation with Leng Yaozhu, he conceals it from the Tang Sect and the wider world 52 53 57.
Abilities
Undead Scourge
Luo Yang’s god-level martial soul, Undead Scourge, grants him dominion over death and the undead. Upon its autonomous awakening, it released a suffocating aura of death that instilled instinctive fear even in powerful abyssal creatures 2 3. The core innate ability of this martial soul is the authority to awaken the departed and reshape the undead, allowing Luo Yang to resurrect fallen powerhouses, including gods, provided certain conditions are met 4. This power is reinforced by the Plane Blessing, which deepens his connection to the origin of Douluo and expands the scope of his summons to encompass every powerhouse who has perished on the continent over millennia 4. The martial soul’s abilities are classified as purifying the undead and death control, giving it a heavy death-energy aura that outsiders may mistake for an evil martial soul 24. The resurrection process involves channeling gray-white ripples into a corpse, reanimating it with the original soul core intact 17. This undead shell can then be fused with a non-bound soul spirit of the same species, granting the spirit a tangible, reinforced body and triggering an evolution that creates a new hybrid existence between spirit and soul beast 17.
Luo Yang's first soul skill is Calamity Evil-Breaking Slash, a death-aspected slash capable of defeating an Evil Soul Master whose temporary secret technique had raised his strength close to the Soul Emperor level 30. He also manifests and wields the Undead Bone Sword in combat, using it to deflect Ye Xinglan's Starfall Like Rain without relying on a soul skill 43.
- Applications:
- Resurrecting fallen allies, such as the soldiers of the Blood God Legion and the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff, providing a constant source of replenishable combatants 3 17.
- Summoning powerful historical figures, such as Bibi Dong, and even former gods, building an Undead Scourge Legion capable of defending the continent 4 10.
- Using the resurrected body as a host for a soul spirit, enabling the spirit to fight independently with greatly enhanced physical parameters and to benefit from the Calamity Domain’s boosts 17.
- Executing Evil Soul Masters with Calamity Evil-Breaking Slash and purifying accumulated death and undead power 30 31.
- Limitations:
- Exercising authority over the undead incurs a significant price, including the need to purify undead souls and fulfill the last wishes of the fallen 4.
- Resurrecting beings of extremely high power, such as gods, may impose additional unspecified requirements 4.
- The martial soul’s death-energy aura can alarm medical equipment and draw unwanted attention, potentially revealing Luo Yang’s nature as an evil martial soul user 6 24.
Calamity Domain
Luo Yang’s innate martial soul domain, the Calamity Domain, is a gray-white void that functions as an undead plane. Any undead within its range receives a three-hundred-percent boost to all attributes, and as long as their soul core remains intact, they can regenerate limbs rapidly even after being severed 6 7. This percentage-based augmentation scales with Luo Yang’s level, meaning it becomes more terrifying over time rather than diminishing in effectiveness 6. The domain also allows resurrected undead to reside within it indefinitely, waiting to be summoned at any moment, effectively creating a portable army 6. When activated, the domain emits invisible ripples that lower temperature, dim light, and instill instinctive fear in enemies—strong enough to make even a Titan Giant Ape submit and cause a thousand-year Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff to hesitate 14 15. The domain can be used for Undead Summoning, calling forth specific entities from the pool of fallen powerhouses 10. It also provides a platform for controlling the newly fused undead-spirit hybrid, as seen with the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff Emperor 17.
The domain's perception can identify hidden death-aspected or Evil Soul Master aura, allowing Luo Yang to see through Nanali's false identity in Grey Rock Town 31.
- Applications:
- Amplifying undead combatants by three hundred percent in all attributes, making even relatively weak undead into formidable fighters 6.
- Enabling rapid regeneration of undead, allowing them to continue fighting despite severe damage 6.
- Serving as a pocket dimension for storing undead creatures, enabling Luo Yang to deploy them instantaneously 6.
- Intimidating enemies through sheer domain pressure, as shown when the Titan Giant Ape cowered and the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff was momentarily dominated 14 16.
- Stacking with other domain effects, since domain-type abilities can be used simultaneously for compounding benefits 7.
- Detecting concealed Evil Soul Master aura and other death-aspected abnormalities 31.
- Limitations:
- The domain is specifically tailored to undead; living beings or non-undead entities do not receive its buffs and may be suppressed or frightened instead 6 14.
- Maintaining the domain over long periods may be mentally taxing, though this is not explicitly quantified in the context.
- The domain’s aura can alert powerful beings, such as Black Empress, to Luo Yang’s location if not masked, as the Plane Blessing is needed to conceal his martial soul’s signature 4 6.
Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff Emperor
The Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff Emperor is a unique hybrid creature born from Luo Yang’s resurrection ability combined with soul-spirit fusion. Initially a millennium-level Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff killed by Qiangu Zhangting, Luo Yang resurrected its corpse and then merged the beast’s own soul spirit into the reanimated body 17. This fusion triggered an evolution into the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff Emperor: the creature doubled in size, gained molten-gold fur, and sprouted a crimson, flame-shaped crown of fur on its forehead 17. Its combat power skyrocketed far beyond normal millennium-level beasts, reaching at least the Spirit King level, equivalent to a five-ring soul master 17 42. When under the Calamity Domain, its attributes are further tripled, making it capable of overwhelming even a Soul Elder with a powerful inherited martial soul like the Coiling Dragon Staff 17. The Emperor possesses innate immunity to dragon might, a trait inherited from the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff lineage, allowing it to ignore dragon-based pressure 17. Luo Yang can recall the Emperor into his sea of consciousness at will, even during a battle 43.
- Applications:
- Serving as a dominant combat asset that can defeat opponents of higher cultivation levels, such as defeating Soul Elder Qiangu Zhangting and later sweeping through Spirit King-level threats 17 42.
- Acting as a protector or assistant in dangerous environments, such as easily dispatching virtual spirit beasts in the Ghost Vine Graveyard and allowing Luo Yang and allies to absorb energy 24.
- Being used as a mount or transport, though this is implied by its size and not explicitly stated.
- Demonstrating the potential for Luo Yang to create more such evolved hybrids using the same resurrection-fusion method, expanding his undead legion with customized super-beasts 17.
- Limitations:
- The Emperor, while powerful, is still a single entity and can be overwhelmed by multiple or more powerful foes, as Luo Yang proactively recalled it before personally facing Ye Xinglan 43.
- Its creation requires the availability of a suitable corpse and the matching soul spirit of the same species—a rare combination 17.
- The fusion process is not guaranteed to succeed with all creatures; the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff Emperor was a specific windfall 17.
Plane Blessing
The Plane Blessing is a boon bestowed upon Luo Yang by the Plane Master of the Douluo Continent. It deeply reinforces Luo Yang’s authority over death, expanding the range of undead he can resurrect to include all powerhouses who have fallen on the continent over the past ten thousand years, including dissipated gods 4. The blessing also masks Luo Yang’s martial soul aura to prevent detection by hostile entities, such as the Black Empress or the God King Tang, and allows the weakened Plane Master to reside within Luo Yang’s sea of consciousness, guiding his growth 4. It is the foundation for Luo Yang’s potential to form an Undead Scourge Legion consisting of legendary figures 4.
- Applications:
- Enabling the resurrection of god-level entities, such as the Rakshasa God Bibi Dong, by lowering or eliminating the usual cost 4 10.
- Protecting Luo Yang from detection by high-level abyssal beings, buying him time to grow without immediate annihilation 4.
- Providing direct mentorship and knowledge from the Plane Master, who can share insights about the continent’s history and threats 4.
- Allowing the Plane Master's will to awaken and suppress the remnant souls of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings 50.
- Limitations:
- The Plane Master herself is weakened and cannot fully manifest or intervene directly in combat 4.
- The blessing may draw Luo Yang into conflicts with powerful gods, such as the usurping God King Tang, who oppose the Plane Master’s agenda 4.
- The exact conditions for summoning specific gods remain unknown; not all fallen powerhouses are automatically summonable without meeting certain requirements 4.
Small Plane and Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well
Luo Yang owns a small plane after Bibi Dong killed the Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python, its former guardians, and placed Luo Yang's soul imprint in the plane's core 46. The plane initially served as a private territory and storage space, but it evolved significantly after Luo Yang transferred the complete Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well into it 52. The transfer expanded the plane's size by several times and brought the seven immortal herbs, including Infernal Delicate Apricot, under Luo Yang's control 50 52.
The plane can devour other spaces and is intended to continue evolving through the absorption of planar energy. Luo Yang believes this path could eventually allow him to become a god independently of the Divine Realm and potentially oppose the Abyss Plane 52 53.
- Applications:
- Providing Luo Yang with a concealed private territory, storage space, and refuge 46.
- Housing the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well and its immortal-herb inhabitants beyond the Tang Sect's reach 52 53.
- Supporting long-term cultivation through its dense spiritual energy and immortal-herb resources 46 52.
- Potentially devouring additional spaces or planar energy to evolve into a more powerful independent world 52 53.
- Limitations:
Gold of Life
Luo Yang possesses the Gold of Life, a verdant life-aspected relic worn as a pendant. He used it to heal Yuanen Yehui after she was injured by an Evil Soul Master in Grey Rock Town 30. In addition to its healing properties, Luo Yang knows that the material is hard enough to serve as a top-grade soul-tool carving knife and possesses further potential connected to the historical Blade of Life's Watch 31.
- Applications:
- Limitations:
- Its full capabilities have not yet been demonstrated 31.

Relationships
- Leng Yaozhu (Heavenly Phoenix Douluo, Vice Pagoda Master): Luo Yang’s primary mentor and protector within the Spirit Pagoda. She refers to herself as “Aunt Leng” and quickly takes him under her wing, feeling a connection through his parents 9 12. She shields him from Qiangu Dongfeng’s pressure and warns others not to provoke him 18 20. Their bond deepens as she offers him her private quarters, visits his room late at night in a revealing nightgown, and eventually bestows upon him the Leng Family’s Phoenix True Fire 28 47. She hints at romantic feelings, comparing him to Yun Ming—a man she secretly loved—and sleeps beside him platitudinously 47. In return, Luo Yang treats her with respect and affection, though he is sometimes uncomfortable with her intimate advances 28 38. Luo Yang later entrusts her with the secret that he moved the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well into his small plane; she warns him to hide it from the Tang Sect and promises to stand with him regardless of what he has done 53 57.
- Yuanen Yehui: A fellow Spirit Pagoda trainee with a Fallen Angel martial soul. Luo Yang saves her from a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear and later reveals his own evil Undead Scourge martial soul, offering friendship based on mutual understanding 22 24. He introduces her to Leng Yaozhu, who accepts her as a disciple, and Luo Yang jokingly claims seniority as senior brother, which she grudgingly accepts 25. They train together on missions against Evil Soul Masters, where Luo Yang provides constant emotional reassurance, calming her fears about her martial soul’s future 29. Yuanen Yehui grows to trust him implicitly, following his lead and showing concern for his safety 28 48. Three years later, she and Luo Yang agree that they will face the eventual opening of the Demon Plane through her martial soul together 58.
- Bibi Dong: A historical expert summoned by Luo Yang’s Plane Blessing. He manipulates her love for her daughter Qian Renxue to gain her loyalty, promising resurrection in exchange for service 11. She agrees to become his subordinate, swearing to destroy Tang San as her dying wish 11. Bibi Dong carries out tasks for Luo Yang—such as finding the Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python—and offers to eliminate the Qiangu Family, though Luo Yang declines 20. She reports regularly and remains a powerful, ruthless ally who respects his strategic mind 45. She later kills the Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python, helps Luo Yang become master of their small plane, and supports him in subduing the immortal herbs at the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well 46 50.
- Ye Guyi: A Holy Angel with eight wings, also summoned by Luo Yang. She serves as his hidden trump card, appearing only when needed 33. She suppresses a Black-Robed Man from the Holy Spirit Cult with her mere presence and intimidates Nanali 33 37. Ye Guyi accompanies the group on missions, heals Yuanen Yehui, and remains a silent but threatening presence 35 37. Luo Yang discusses plans with her and treats her as a trusted ally 38. She later appears alongside Bibi Dong to help force the immortal herbs' submission 50.
- Nanali (Dark Bell of the Holy Spirit Cult): Initially an assassin hired by Qiangu Zhangting to kill Luo Yang 27. After being exposed and cornered by Luo Yang’s group—especially Ye Guyi—she breaks down and begs for mercy 37. Luo Yang spares her and accepts her pledge of loyalty to the Spirit Pagoda, using her fear to his advantage 37. Nanali subsequently becomes a reluctant subordinate, internally conflicted but increasingly calculating toward Luo Yang’s power 39 45. She later travels with the group to the secret realm, still under observation 48. Luo Yang eventually allows her to return to the Holy Spirit Cult as his spy, tasking her with identifying potential allies within the organization 53 54.
- Qiangu Zhangting: The arrogant grandson of Spirit Pagoda Master Qiangu Dongfeng. He nurses a grudge against Luo Yang for taking the Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff and tries to have him killed by hiring Nanali 20 27. Luo Yang survives, exposing Qiangu’s collusion with the Holy Spirit Cult 36. Qiangu Zhangting is described as petty and narrow-minded, and Luo Yang dismisses him as unworthy of serious concern 36 37.
- Ye Xinglan (Shrek Academy): A genius swordswoman with the Star God Sword martial soul. She fights Luo Yang in a tournament match, undergoes an epiphany due to his influence, and afterward challenges him to a future duel to test her improved swordsmanship 43 45. The exchange is brief but significant, establishing a respectful rivalry.
- Blood Eight: A member of the Blood God Legion who escorts Luo Yang to the Spirit Pagoda. She shows deep emotional attachment, expressing love and concern for him, and warns Leng Yaozhu to protect him 12 19. She threatens Qiangu Dongfeng that the Blood God Legion will retaliate if Luo Yang is harmed 18. Luo Yang holds her in high regard, though their parting is sorrowful.
- Qiangu Dongfeng: Spirit Pagoda Master and grandfather of Qiangu Zhangting. He initially tries to intimidate Luo Yang but is restrained by Blood Eight’s warning about the Blood God Legion 18. He later warns his grandson not to provoke Luo Yang, recognizing that the Blood God Legion’s involvement implies Luo Yang has significant backing 20. Luo Yang sees him as a potential obstacle but decides to keep the Qiangu Family for now, finding them still useful 20.
- Affection Douluo (Zang Xin): A Limit Douluo and helmsman of the Tang Sect who drives the group to the secret realm. He communicates with the valley’s guardian and stresses that the senior inside has a poor temper, warning the young spirit masters not to act recklessly 48. He shows respect and caution toward the guardian. After the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well disappears, he suspects Luo Yang despite the lack of evidence and orders the Tang Sect to continue monitoring him 57 58.
- Black-Robed Man (Holy Spirit Cult): A cult member who attempts to take Luo Yang back as the Holy Son. He creates a domain to trap the group but is intimidated and confused when Luo Yang reveals Ye Guyi, whose holy presence suppresses him 33. His interaction is brief and ends in his retreat.
- Ya Li (Holy Spirit Douluo): A Shrek Academy Limit Douluo who arrives at the Spirit Pagoda to fulfill the tournament wager by performing a Holy Spirit Baptism on Luo Yang 54. Following the baptism, Ya Li repeatedly dreams of a man resembling Luo Yang, while her Healing Angel martial soul develops a mysterious vassal-like resonance toward his martial soul; she conceals these changes from others, including Yun Ming 58.
- Immortal Herbs of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well: Luo Yang initially confronts seven incarnated immortal herbs, whose members resist his attempt to take them all 49. After Bibi Dong, Ye Guyi, and the Plane Master's will demonstrate overwhelming authority, the herbs submit and later relocate into Luo Yang's small plane, where they recognize the improved environment 50 52.
Key Events
Awakening of the Undead Scourge and Divine Intervention. During an Abyss Tide led by the Six-Claw Demon Emperor, Luo Yang autonomously awakened his God-level martial soul, the Undead Heavenly Monarch, also called Undead Scourge 2. The demigod Abyssal King, Black Empress, attacked him, but the Plane Master of the Douluo Continent intervened, protecting Luo Yang and using his body to display her power. The Plane Master revived the fallen soldiers of the Blood God Legion, including Blood Eight, and bestowed a Plane Blessing upon Luo Yang, infusing him with vast origin power 3. This event marked Luo Yang's transformation from a normal child into a figure of immense potential and established a direct enmity with Black Empress, who placed a high-order reservation curse on him 5.
Acceptance of the Continental Mission and Formation of Alliances. In a dreamlike vision, Luo Yang learned the history of the Douluo Continent and the threat from the Abyss Plane and the usurping God King Tang. The Plane Master entrusted him with the responsibility of saving the continent, revealing that his martial soul allowed him to resurrect fallen powerhouses under certain conditions. Luo Yang accepted this burden, and the Plane Master chose to reside in his sea of consciousness to help him grow stronger and mask his aura 4. This marked the beginning of his strategic thinking and long-term planning. Shortly after, Luo Yang summoned Bibi Dong, who had been revived, and tasked her with finding the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts Titan Giant Ape and Sky Azure Bull Python, showcasing his ability to command powerful allies 20.
Arrival at the Spirit Pagoda and Key Mentorships. Luo Yang arrived at Shrek City with Blood Eight and entered the Spirit Pagoda, where he was warmly greeted by Vice Tower Master Leng Yaozhu, who recognized his resemblance to his mother 12. He was given luxurious living quarters, and Blood Eight departed with an emotional farewell 19. In the Spirit Ascension Platform, Luo Yang met Yuanen Yehui, a girl with a Fallen Angel martial soul. He revealed his own Undead Scourge martial soul to her, emphasizing that power itself has no inherent good or evil, and they formed a bond of friendship 24. Subsequently, Leng Yaozhu offered to take Yuanen Yehui as her disciple, which she accepted 25. These interactions established Luo Yang's network of mentors and peers, critical to his growth.
Preparation for the Friendly Match and Live Combat Training. Leng Yaozhu announced special training for the upcoming friendly exhibition match against Shrek Academy, involving live combat against Evil Soul Masters responsible for the Grey Rock Town massacre 28. Luo Yang, Yuanen Yehui, and the rescued girl Nanali, an agent of the Holy Spirit Cult, fought through the Evil Soul Masters. During this mission, Luo Yang used his first soul skill, Calamity Evil-Breaking Slash, to defeat a strengthened Evil Soul Master and used the Gold of Life to heal Yuanen Yehui 30. He also purified a significant amount of Undead Power within his domain, reaching a critical point that would later enhance his abilities 31. Additionally, the Holy Spirit Cult appeared, declaring Luo Yang their Holy Son because of his Undead Scourge martial soul 32. Back at the Spirit Pagoda, Leng Yaozhu questioned him about this, but Luo Yang feigned ignorance 36.
Victory in the Friendly Exhibition Match. The annual friendly match between the Spirit Pagoda and Shrek Academy took place at the Central Arena in front of 100,000 spectators. A wager was made: if Shrek won, the Spirit Pagoda would provide an Unyielding Soul Spirit; if the Spirit Pagoda won, Shrek Academy would allow their disciples to study in the inner court for free, and Ya Li would perform the Holy Spirit Baptism on one of the Spirit Pagoda contestants 39. During the matches, Luo Yang defeated Xiao Yan with ease 41, then faced Ye Xinglan. He dodged her attacks and criticized her sword technique, ultimately helping her achieve an epiphany about the true essence of the Way of the Sword 43. Ye Xinglan's subsequent loss was the deciding factor, leading to Shrek's defeat. The Spirit Pagoda won for the first time in years 44 45. Luo Yang's performance earned him qualification to enter the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well secret realm 45.
Acquisition of a Small Plane and Preparation for the Secret Realm. After the match, Bibi Dong presented Luo Yang with a small plane, making him its master and allowing him to enter and exit at will, use it for storage, or treat it as his private territory. Luo Yang immediately planned to use this plane to plunder the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well of its immortal herbs 46. Two days later, the Spirit Pagoda group, including Luo Yang, Yuanen Yehui, and Leng Yaozhu, traveled to a hidden valley protected by a massive soul-guided alloy wall and deadly Seven-Colored Poisonous Miasma. They reached the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, where a senior with a poor temper allowed only one person to enter at a time based on fortune. Luo Yang hid his excitement about the herbs, intending to take as many as possible 48.
Subjugation and Relocation of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well. Within the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, Luo Yang confronted the seven immortal herbs and rejected their offer to select only one suitable herb, declaring that he wanted them all 49. When the herbs invoked the remnant souls of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, Bibi Dong and Ye Guyi supported Luo Yang while the Plane Master's will awakened and froze the dragon shadows 50. The immortal herbs surrendered, after which Luo Yang transferred the entire Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well into his small plane. This caused the plane's first major evolution, expanding its size by several times and relocating the herbs into a safer, more favorable environment 52.
Immortal-Herb Refinement and Tang Sect Investigation. Luo Yang refined the avatar of Infernal Delicate Apricot, raising his soul power from level 13 to level 20 and improving his physique, spiritual power, fire resistance, and flame affinity 54. When the Tang Sect discovered the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well had vanished, its representatives interrogated Luo Yang and Yuanen Yehui. Luo Yang maintained his composure and presented only the herb he had openly obtained, allowing the Soul Search Device to find no evidence against him 57. Although the investigation failed, Affection Douluo remained suspicious and ordered continuing surveillance of Luo Yang 58.
Three Years of Growth and the Demon Plane Pact. Three years after the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well incident, Luo Yang reaches level 34 while Yuanen Yehui reaches level 42 58. Although Luo Yang's cultivation is comparatively slower because he devotes much of his time to managing the small plane and absorbing immortal-herb resources, he remains among the strongest of his age 58. He and Yuanen Yehui affirm that they will open and confront the future Demon Plane together when her demonic martial soul reaches the necessary stage 58.
