Tang San retains memories and techniques from a previous life, including the Tang Sect's hidden-weapon arts and the Mysterious Heaven Skill. He treats these secret arts as the foundation of his survival and reacts with immediate alarm when Qian San demonstrates the same techniques. 67 73

After Shrek Academy's early defeats, Tang San becomes increasingly preoccupied with obtaining enough power to defeat Qian San and protect Xiao Wu. The God King of Evil approaches him during this vulnerable period and offers him strength and eventual godhood in exchange for following his nature and removing obstacles by any means necessary.
