Nature and Awakening

A Martial Soul is the manifestation of a person’s energy attribute. Its nature determines the abilities, attributes, and developmental routes most compatible with its wielder 317.

A Soul Master’s Martial Soul awakens alongside their innate Soul Power. Innate quality may be limited by an incomplete Martial Soul: Xu Xiao’s flawed Dragon Body left him with only Rank 6 Innate Soul Power despite possessing Twin Martial Souls 14. Conversely, Tang San’s twin Martial Souls awakened with Innate Full Soul Power at Rank 10 349.

Advancement normally requires obtaining Soul Rings; without one, Tang San’s cultivation technique could not continue progressing beyond its initial impasse 359.

Soul Rings and Soul Skills

Soul Rings provide Soul Skills and are tied directly to a Martial Soul’s growth. Ring age affects skill strength, but raising an existing ring’s age later does not create additional Soul Skills; it only strengthens the skill already present 117.

High-age rings may provide multiple skills when obtained directly. A million-year ring can theoretically grant four skills, though the Spirit Pagoda can bestow only two; Xu Xiao’s ten-million-year eighth ring grants four skills that may be fused into one technique 60 190.

Martial Soul Fusion Skills

A Martial Soul Fusion Skill requires more than compatible Martial Souls. Users must train together, survive danger together, and reach a state of complete mutual understanding before fusion can manifest 17.

Infinite Stasis Domain

Yue Guan and Gui Mei awakened Infinite Stasis Domain after a month of repeated life-and-death training within the Spirit Ascension Platform 18.

• Combines Gui Mei’s darkness with Yue Guan’s opposing energy into a black-and-white field 18.
• Immobilizes targets for five seconds 18 19.
• Can be aimed at a designated area rather than indiscriminately freezing allies and enemies alike 18.
• Could initially restrain Soul Beasts roughly two to three thousand years old; against a ten-thousand-year Earth Cave Demon Spider, its duration remained only five seconds 18 48.

Self Martial Soul Fusion Potential

Meng Yiran may be capable of a Self Martial Soul Fusion Skill because her Divine Dragon Staff and Divine Serpent Staff can be manifested simultaneously, one in each hand 357.

• Her body must first be strengthened enough to withstand the fusion’s strain 357.
• Chen Yuansha may similarly be able to combine her weapon and beast Martial Souls, though this remains unconfirmed 357.
• Twin Martial Souls alone do not guarantee self-fusion; Xu Xiao cannot fuse his own two Martial Souls due to their disparity in quality and his inability to sense the required state 357.

Spirit Pagoda

Xu Xiao’s Spirit Pagoda is a pure white, nine-tiered Tool Martial Soul described as superior to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda 1. Unlike ordinary Martial Souls, it has no attribute restriction when absorbing Soul Rings and prioritizes high ring age over elemental compatibility 3.

Soul Bestowal

The Spirit Pagoda’s sole native Soul Skill is introduced as Soul Attachment and later used as Soul Bestowal 1 4.

• Creates Soul Rings directly for other people, removing the need to kill Soul Beasts for rings 34.
• Bestows rings perfectly suited to the recipient’s Martial Soul and attributes 1 4.
• Amplifies the foundation age of Xu Xiao’s own rings tenfold when granting them to others 92.

Spirit Ascension Platform

The Spirit Ascension Platform is a sealed space unlocked within the Spirit Pagoda after Xu Xiao refined the Aromatic Silk Beauty 15.

• Its first floor is a simulation built from the Wild Fallen Earth Python’s memories, including places, Soul Beasts, pain, and apparent death 16.
• Death within the platform ejects the participant rather than killing them in reality 16.
• It provides combat training and can increase qualifying Soul Ring ages through battle 15 16.
• A ring cannot be raised beyond the age threshold defined by Xu Xiao’s corresponding ring; when his first ring was 600 years, only rings below 6,000 years could be improved 15.
• Each new Soul Ring unlocks an additional platform floor based on the memories of its source Soul Beast 16 22.

Origin

Xu Xiao’s Twin Martial Souls were not originally extraordinary. The Dragon God later explains that:

• The Spirit Pagoda began as an ordinary little tower before fusing with a fragment of the God Realm’s core containing divine power 230.
• The Dragon Body began as an ordinary self Martial Soul; the Dragon God sealed the soul of a slain flood dragon within it 230.
• The flood dragon soul subsequently evolved through Xu Xiao’s cultivation and the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ residual power 14 230.
• The Spirit Pagoda eventually developed rules of its own, all centered on Soul Rings, including ring bestowal, ring-age enhancement, and Soul Beast cultivation effects 208.
