Background

Gui Mei's early life was marked by rejection and violence. His martial soul was originally Ghost Fire, and his relatives treated him with contempt; he was isolated and bullied. After being deceived into jumping into a lake and nearly dying, both his soul and martial soul mutated. He thereafter concealed his face behind a mask and lived alone. 3

His circumstances changed after meeting Xu Xiao and Yue Guan earlier than in the original timeline. The three swore brotherhood, with Xu Xiao as eldest brother, and Gui Mei pledged to keep the secret of Xu Xiao's Spirit Pagoda and its Soul Bestowal ability. 1
