Government and Military

Lord Edward governs Flower Territory and possesses Platinum-rank strength. He formerly served among Admiral Daelin Proudmoore’s personal guards and was personally trained by him 12. His only daughter, Alice, is widely regarded as the likely future ruler because Edward raised her as his successor 10.

The City Defense Department answers directly to the lord. It has three captains, fifteen centurions, and seventy-five soldiers; its officers hold authority one rank above comparable regular military officials 10.

• Captain Otto — Lin Lei’s direct superior; assigns him lodging and integrates him into the City Defense Department 10.

History

Lin Lei was raised in Flower Territory as the son of Aguda, a low-status free citizen. Before receiving the King Card System, he expected to remain a farmer within the territory for life 1.

After Lin Lei killed a Silver-rank Earth Demon Bear near Wheat Town, Alice purchased the carcass and offered him a Centurion post. He subsequently reported to Flower Territory’s City Defense Department and was placed under Captain Otto’s command 4 5 10.

During the annual Human Hunting Festival, Edward departed with much of the territory’s military strength. The Burning Legion’s Shadow Council and the Scourge Legion’s Curse Cult used the opportunity to activate their infiltration plan, having already planted cultists and necromancers within Flower Territory 19 20.

The ensuing attack struck the Lord’s Mansion, the Ai Mansion, and other parts of the territory. Alice, Lin Lei, the Black Armor Knights, and surviving defenders repelled the attackers, while Lin Lei helped restore order across the territory after the battle 23. Edward was seriously injured, many middle- and lower-ranking personnel were killed or wounded, and Flower Territory was expected to need decades to regain its former strength 23.

After Edward recovered, he granted Lin Lei the barony around Crouching Dragon Ravine and Gloomy Forest. Lin Lei’s new domain remained closely connected to Flower Territory through military ties, trade, and his marriage to Aierlan 24 31 46.

Economy and Society

• Flower Territory supports extensive commerce, including the Rose Chamber of Commerce, a medium-sized caravan said to earn more than ten million gold coins annually 42.
• The territory has forty to fifty tailor shops, with Lady Moran’s shop previously supplying garments for the Lord’s Mansion 12.
• Lin Lei sells more than five thousand beast hides in Flower Territory and later completes transactions worth one million gold coins for furs and 600,000 gold coins for ore 30 32.
• Its annual Human Hunting Festival draws guards and mercenaries, who participate in culling nonhuman races and dangerous magical beasts; spoils belong to whoever claims them 19.
• Flower Territory’s military salaries serve as the wage standard later adopted by Crouching Dragon Ravine 42.
