Background / History

Aierlan is the eldest legitimate daughter of Viscount Aixing’s household and Alice’s cousin. At a Flower Territory banquet, she approaches the solitary Lin Lei, drinks with him, and pretends to become intoxicated. She secretly uses a Sound-Transmitting Conch to call her attendants and guards, who take Lin Lei to the Ai residence under an accusation of molestation. Her aim is to keep the man she fell for at first sight nearby long enough to pursue him. 15 16

At the ensuing family banquet, Aierlan remains silent while Viscount Aixing pressures Lin Lei over the accusation. When Aixing proposes marriage as the solution, she immediately and eagerly agrees after Lin Lei consents. The initial wedding date is set for the fifth of the following month. 17

She worries for Lin Lei while he tames the dangerous Fire Cloud Horse and later grows closer to him as he proves himself. During the demonic attack on Flower Territory, she fights alongside her household but loses her grandfather, Viscount Aixing, who dies battling an ogre chieftain. Lin Lei finds her after the battle and comforts her. 18 23

After Lin Lei becomes Baron of Crouching Dragon Ravine, Aierlan inherits land and offers it to him, but he declines. She accompanies him to the devastated territory, helps distribute tools and organize the arriving settlers, and assists with early reconstruction. 24 26

The wedding is delayed by the demands of building the territory. Aierlan directly raises the issue with Lin Lei, who commits to holding the ceremony on the first day of the next month. Their marriage banquet is eventually held at Crouching Dragon Ravine. 29 46

Aierlan is a delicate-looking young woman with large eyes, crescent-shaped dimples, and long curled twin ponytails. Her eyes closely resemble those of her cousin Alice. 15 16

Aierlan is headstrong, bold, and accustomed to getting what she wants. Spoiled by her family—especially Viscount Aixing—she resorts to an elaborate false drunkenness and abduction scheme when Lin Lei initially shows no interest in her. 16 17

Despite this impulsiveness, she is emotionally open and sincere about Lin Lei. She worries whether he will hate her for her scheme, directly presses him to set a wedding date, and becomes anxious about meeting his parents. 16 29 34 41

She also demonstrates independence after marriage. Lin Lei expects her to rest rather than teach, but she rejects the assumption and continues her regular work at the magic school. 46
