Angron was in a dire situation; the version of himself from the future was attacking with the ferocity of a wild beast, while the bloodthirsty spectators around them slaughtered one another, devouring flesh and blood.
Tall warriors clad in strange armor appeared on the high platform, glaring down at him with fury. Something had clearly changed.
Exhausted, Angron narrowly dodged another cleaving strike. His own weapons could not penetrate the enemy's armor, yet the roar of the opponent's chainaxe meant that even a glancing blow would tear away a massive chunk of flesh.
"Face me!! Coward!"
The Daemon Primarch roared once more. The gaze from the Warp poured into him, and his entire body began to swell as a pair of scarlet wings erupted from his back.
After taking a heavy hit and being sent flying, Angron realized he was no match for the monster before him. He had to run; he had to lure this creature away.
He began to maneuver through the sand pit, searching for a chance to escape. He spotted the entrance to a tunnel in the distance. If he could reach it, he could hide within the tunnels and use the familiar architectural structure to circle back and survive.
Though the mindless monster had lost its sanity, the blessing of the Blood God had enhanced its strength.
Just then, a group of Dark Eldar rode their assault skiffs into the arena, firing indiscriminately at the crowd. Seizing this moment, Angron rolled into the tunnel and began a desperate flight for his life.
Angron's flight infuriated the Daemon Primarch. "Running, always running. You are always so weak. I will tear the bones from your body."
But the frenzied monster was stalled by the sudden attack. The World Eaters and the Knife-ears on the stands began to trade fire, descending into a chaotic brawl.
Slaying a Knife-ears that blocked his path with a single axe stroke, more power surged into his frame. Spreading his wings, the Daemon Primarch took to the sky. Ignoring his own subordinates, he set out to hunt down his former, cowardly self to hammer the Butcher's Nails into his skull.
Nuceria possessed a small Webway gate. A Farseer had once prophesied that Angron, having crashed onto Nuceria, would slaughter the Eldar of the tribes. Thus, when Angron was young, these Knife-ears had attempted to capture him, though he always managed to escape.
Today, the Farseer issued another warning: if they failed to capture Angron today, they would face only annihilation. Therefore, the tribe's warriors poured out in full force, swearing to execute him on the spot.
However, the moment they emerged, they realized something was wrong. As a race deeply persecuted by Slaanesh, they arrived on Nuceria only to find a fleet of Chaos warriors surrounding the planet. A fierce battle was raging in orbit, and the Eldar took advantage of the chaos to launch a sneak attack.
Extracting a monofilament blade from the body of a World Eaters, the Dark Eldar, having failed to locate Angron, began a pursuit, breaking away from the main battlefield.
The World Eaters jumped onto their vehicles to follow suit. Now, both sides shared the same target; it was a race to see who could claim him first.
Using the city as cover, Angron scrambled through the streets. War and corpses were everywhere; the humans of the entire planet had gone mad. Angron did not know why, but he could only run.
A violent explosion wiped out more than half of the fleet, and the Blackwatch finally gained the upper hand in numbers. The warships broke through the encirclement and reached the planet's low orbit, followed by the pursuing World Eaters. From space, one could see the rebellion erupting on the surface. Because they did not know Angron's exact location, they could not initiate an Exterminatus.
The two Primarchs decided to deploy via drop pods, leaving the warships to provide cover from space.
Without a moment's hesitation, the warships launched a precision orbital bombardment on the surface's anti-air facilities. The mixed forces boarded Stormbird gunships to land; the chaotic surface had no means to stop the arrival of the human troops.
From the air, Hogg spotted the bizarre procession of World Eaters and Eldar on the ground. There was nothing to discuss; the Stormbird began its bombing run.
Howling missiles and lasers descended upon the surface, flipping the pursuing vehicles. As they neared the Hive City, the Blackwatch and Ultramarines, equipped with jump packs, leaped from the cabins to intercept the xenos and Chaos warriors.
Soldiers from all three factions engaged in urban warfare within the streets of the Hive City. Bolters, plasma, and star-markers ravaged the already insane remnants of the human population. Before departing, Hogg had already issued the order: every living thing on the surface was an enemy; shoot on sight.
Nuceria was beyond saving. Under the ravages of the Chaos warriors and the gaze of Khorne, the planet would have been subjected to an Exterminatus long ago if not for the fact that Angron was still down there waiting to be rescued.
Hogg and Guilliman, remaining on the Stormbird, did not join the ground battle. Their goal was to track Angron's trail.
The Stormbird circled the Hive City, continuing its patrol, until a massive figure with wings was discovered.
"What is that? A daemon?" Guilliman had never seen such a twisted creature; it looked exactly like a daemon from mythology.
"That is Angron, or rather, the Angron who will betray us in the future. He is hunting the 'good' Angron. Open fire. Eliminate him."
The missiles and laser cannons mounted under the cabin began to fire. Sensing the attack, the Daemon Primarch performed a mid-air maneuver, dodging the laser's trajectory. He flapped his wings with unscientific force to dart into the high altitude, shattered a missile with his axe, and used the force of the explosion to leap onto the Stormbird.
His twisted face peered through the cabin window. "So it is Guilliman, the Corpse Emperor's lapdog. I shall start with you, then hunt down that little rat."
Hogg, who had been ignored due to his smaller stature, did not let him finish. He charged, slamming into the creature. His sharp power claws hooked into the fleshy wings, and with a forceful pull, he tore them clean off. Striking while the enemy was vulnerable, Hogg transformed into a seven-meter-tall behemoth, pinning the creature beneath him and driving it toward the ground.
"Damn you! You...?? You are a Primarch, how did I not know of you?"
"You dog, there is much you don't know. You are finished today; not even Khorne can save you." Having gained the advantage, Hogg utilized his four arms to pummel the body beneath him as they plummeted.
"I am invincible!! You cannot kill me." The Daemon Primarch tried to resist, but he could not budge Hogg's arms.
"The last piece of trash who said that was digested by me until not even a scrap remained. I have decided to consume you into my belly."
"BOOM!!" The two giants slammed into the ground. Even such a violent impact could not kill the Daemon Primarch. The two behemoths began to grapple, their massive frames destroying everything in the vicinity.
Weapons protruding from tentacles fired wildly at Angron, only to be severed by the great axe the next moment. Carapace that could resist death-ray bombardment was shattered by a single blow, but thicker chitin and more tentacles grew back instantly. Hogg had never feared a war of attrition.
"Severed Rations!"
Dark red Psionic Energy was channeled at maximum power, completely severing the gaze of the Warp. The frenzied Angron was pierced by tentacles growing wildly inward; the flames of Khorne could not purge these parasites. The daemon's body grew weak, and he could only let out a roar of impotence.
As time passed, the scales of victory tipped toward Hogg. By now, the two had razed the Hive City to the ground. Two arms blocked Angron's cleaving strike, while a newly grown tail restricted the Daemon Primarch's movements.
Seizing the opportunity, a second pair of claws pierced the opponent's body and gripped the spine. With a burst of violent strength, Hogg tore Angron's flesh open and ripped out a spine dripping with gore.
Completely defeated, Angron could not stand and was forced to kneel at Hogg's feet. Discarding the trash in his hand, Hogg gave him no chance to escape, picking up Angron's great axe and swinging it down with all his might.
The hideous head flew into the air and was swallowed in one gulp by the maw in Hogg's abdomen, completely extinguishing any possibility of resurrection.
Sharp teeth began to chew as dark red Psionic Energy invaded the Daemon Primarch's skull. Hogg spoke to the still-living Angron inside his mouth: "Even as a servant of Chaos, you are a failure. You aren't even as effective as Lorgar; you are nothing but a clown."
Being compared to Lorgar completely broke the Daemon Primarch's mental defenses. Before he could utter a curse, more Psionic Energy flooded his remaining head, washing his mind into oblivion before he was digested into pure energy.
However, the energy fed back from digesting Angron was too much, leaving Hogg feeling bloated. Blood-red flames coiled around the behemoth's body, and his originally emerald eyes were veiled in a hint of scarlet.
