Russ, facing him, was forced back a little by a vicious rising cut from below, but the Fenrisian quickly adjusted his footing and recovered.

The greatsword in his hands had far greater reach than the two-handed sword the Lion had chosen, so he swung it as though it were an axe, hacking straight down toward Lion's neck. The shriek of the wind made the attack terrifying.

The Lion's gaze sharpened, and he immediately chose to retreat—he could not meet a greatsword head-on with this two-handed sword. That would be far too unwise. Even so, he had already begun to regret why he had not chosen a greatsword as well at the start of the fight.
