Background / History

The Void was released into Valoran when Icathia, having been beguiled by the Aspects, found and unleashed it. Icathia was destroyed almost immediately, and the invasion became the cause of the Shuriman Empire's first decline. 244

Its creatures are not believed to be naturally born. He Shenyan identifies them as biological weapons and distinguishes them from Beings from the Otherworld: while both corrupt and devour, Void creatures can rapidly adapt to an opponent's methods. 244 252

The Void remained entrenched in heavily corrupted regions such as the ruins of Icathia and beneath Frostguard Citadel. Lissandra kept Void creatures dormant there through mortal souls and hallucinations, but the containment ultimately failed, corrupting the Frostguard and causing the citadel's fall. 256 263 265

By the later conflict, the Void was capable of launching repeated assaults through rifts and planning cross-boundary passages to invade additional worlds. 986 1038
