Background / History
Tang San initially fought with a Blue Silver Grass martial soul, supplemented by Tang Sect arts from his past life. He was a student of Yu Xiaogang at Shrek Academy, though later revelations that his martial soul was a Blue Silver Emperor—and not ordinary Blue Silver Grass—caused him to question Yu Xiaogang's guidance 92 172.
His rivalry with Zhou Qiubai began with a soul duel. Tang San employed Blue Silver Grass, the Eight Spider Lances, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and eventually prohibited hidden weapons, but Zhou repeatedly countered him and won. Tang San left the encounter resentful and resolved to master Zhou's techniques himself 31 32 34.
Attempting to close the gap before the Soul Master Tournament, Tang San entered the Sunset Forest with Tai Tan to absorb a ten-thousand-year spirit ring. The attempt failed disastrously: violent ring energy damaged his meridians and internal organs, leaving him unable to use soul power until Tai Tan saved him 172 174.
Tang Hao subsequently took Tang San away to pursue his mother’s legacy. In a forest of Blue Silver Grass, Tang San’s martial soul evolved into the Blue Silver Emperor through the life force of surrounding Blue Silver Grass and the Ten Thousand Year Blue Silver King. He successfully gained a fourth ten-thousand-year spirit ring and returned to Shrek more confident in both his strength and leadership 175 192 213 214.
At the tournament final, he served as the focus of Shrek’s Seven-in-One Fusion Skill and manifested a Tool Soul Avatar with the Clear Sky Hammer. Despite this temporary power, Zhou Qiubai and Yang Guyun defeated him through coordinated sword and spear techniques; Yang’s Startling Dragon attack inflicted severe internal injuries 285 287 289.
Xiao Wu later sacrificed herself to save him, allowing Tang San to fuse with her Hundred Thousand Year Spirit Bone and reach the level-60 bottleneck. Martial Soul Hall pursued him for the Spirit Bone, forcing Tang Hao to hold off four Title Douluos while Tang San escaped 293 304.
While fleeing, Tang San absorbed a Spirit Bone left by his mother, inherited Clear Sky Sect diagrams and secret techniques, and eventually became a Soul Emperor. He entered the Capital of Slaughter to strengthen himself, killed opponents in the Hell Slaughter Arena and criminals outside it, then traversed the Hell Road alone to gain Divine Slaughter’s Domain 314 327 340 341 353 354.
Tang San later entered the Clear Sky Sect, confronted its elders over their isolation, and passed the Seventh Elder’s test. He earned formal acceptance into the sect after exchanging the Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent’s Inner Core for membership 357 359 360.
Following his admission, Tang San spent a year under Tang Yuehua’s guidance to control the killing intent accumulated in the Capital of Slaughter. After completing her tutelage, he departed to search for Tang Hao, then entered the Star Dou Forest to hunt and devour ten-thousand-year Spirit Beasts for further growth 370.
During his forest training, Tang San used the Eight Spider Lances to absorb Man Faced Demon Spiders, causing the External Soul Bone to evolve. He later deceived and killed a minor spirit-hunting team for their Soul Power, reaching Rank 66 378 379.
Tang San subsequently expanded the Tang Sect with Tai Tan’s assistance. He won White Crane’s support by demonstrating the Godly Zhuge Crossbow and accepted the Speed Clan into the sect, adding its scouts, messengers, and potential hidden-weapon users to the Tang Sect’s foundation 424 425 426.
Six years later, Tang San was attempting to create the Buddha Fury Tang Lotus while struggling with the Tang Sect’s lack of funds, land, and formal commercial standing. News that two Spirit Bones allegedly stripped from Tang Hao were being auctioned in Heaven Dou City deeply unsettled him, as he had received no word from his father for nearly six years 454 476.
Appearance
Following the evolution of his martial soul, Tang San’s skin became fairer and his hair turned blue 192.
- Blue Silver Emperor manifests as a dark-blue blade of grass with clear veins and faint golden edging 192.
- Usually presents himself with a respectful posture while retaining a straight-backed, self-assured bearing 89.
- Can appear sincere and approachable while concealing cold intent 379.
- After Tang Yuehua's tutelage, his demeanor becomes more natural and refined, without the stiffness caused by his formerly uncontrolled killing intent 370.
Personality
Tang San is determined, adaptable, and highly competitive. When direct attacks fail, he changes tactics quickly, relying on movement techniques, concealed weapons, and battlefield control 31 32 340.
His defeats by Zhou Qiubai foster deep resentment and a fixation on proving his superiority. He repeatedly measures his progress against Zhou, at times allowing his desire for victory to create openings in battle 192 234 287.
His pursuit of power becomes increasingly ruthless. In the Capital of Slaughter, he rationalizes killing criminals for their life force as “purification”; later, he kills a spirit-hunting team for Soul Power without remorse 341 379. Training under Tang Yuehua later gives him greater control over his killing intent and makes him more patient and deliberate 370.
Tang San is highly calculating in factional matters. He views the Speed Clan's speed as useful for reconnaissance, communication, assassination, logistics, and the deployment of hidden weapons, and he successfully persuades White Crane to entrust the clan's future to the Tang Sect 423 425.
He maintains an outwardly courteous, humble image even while making cold assessments of others' value or plotting for power. This restraint allows him to gain the trust of elders such as White Crane and Tai Tan despite the domineering ambition he conceals 379 424 425.
