Guy and Team 9 defeated Kirigakure’s forces at Reef Bay, then escorted Hozuki Mangetsu to Orochimaru’s camp. Their next assignment brought them to an all-Uchiha outpost commanded by Uchiha Hisui, where they met his young son, Uchiha Shisui.

• Guy and Team 9 fought Ao, Mei Terumi, and Hozuki Mangetsu at Reef Bay, where Hyuga Yuma and Ao each lost an eye before Kirigakure retreated.
• Konoha rewarded Team 9 for its actions, and Guy developed Golden Bell Body Protection and Golden Bell: Rotation Strike after learning Rotation principles from Hyuga Yuma.
• Guy, Ebisu, and Genma spent their merit points on supplies and scrolls, and Mitokado Homura gave Guy a Fire Run scroll before assigning them to escort Hozuki Mangetsu to Orochimaru’s unit.
• Hyuga Yuma gave Ebisu and Genma gifts and left Guy his private notes on chakra control and Rotation as Team 9 departed with Mangetsu.
• At Orochimaru’s camp, Guy demonstrated Golden Bell: Rotation Strike, refused Orochimaru’s offer to become his student, and learned from Anko about the stalemate with Iwagakure.
• Anko assigned Guy, Ebisu, and Genma to Outpost Eight under Uchiha Hisui, whose son was Uchiha Shisui.
• Hisui tested the newcomers with Sharingan genjutsu and warned them to obey orders, then Shisui showed them around the Uchiha camp and led them to their tent.

Guy, Ebisu, and Genma helped the Uchiha defeat Roshi at Outpost Eight, triggering a dangerous confrontation with Iwagakure and reshaping the frontline. After being transferred for their safety, they reunited with Kurenai and Asuma just before a large-scale enemy attack began.

• Shisui led Guy, Ebisu, and Genma to the main encampment with three Iwagakure prisoners, where they reunited with Aburame Shikuroo and learned Kurenai and Asuma were away on classified missions.
• When Guy’s sensing insect reacted to a distress signal, Guy rushed to rescue Kurenai, Asuma, and two wounded Konoha ninja from an Iwagakure ambush, then helped drive off their attackers.
• Half a month later, Roshi surrounded Outpost Eight and demanded that Uchiha Hisui hand over Guy, Ebisu, and Genma, but Shisui rallied the Uchiha to resist.
• Guy, Ebisu, and Genma flooded Roshi’s lava field with seawater, trapping him in cooled magma, and Hisui killed him as the Uchiha defeated the Iwagakure force.
• Orochimaru refused Iwagakure’s demand for Roshi’s corpse, and Inoichi discovered in Roshi’s memories that Iwagakure had planned to ambush the Third Raikage with over ten thousand troops.
• Torifu and Hisui concealed Guy, Ebisu, and Genma’s role in Roshi’s death, and Torifu arranged for them to transfer to Inuzuka Tsume’s unit to protect them from retaliation.
• Guy, Ebisu, and Genma reunited with Kurenai, Asuma, and Shikuroo, then accepted Asuma’s offer to stay with Inoichi’s unit as the frontline raised its alert level.
• Three days later, emergency whistles woke the Konoha headquarters and signaled a large-scale enemy attack.

Konoha defeated Ōnoki’s Iwagakure force, and Guy helped save White Fang and the endangered shinobi before joining reinforcements in the Land of Grass. There, Guy helped Obito awaken his Sharingan and began a clash with Kakashi that revealed his growing strength.

• Torifu Akimichi led Konoha’s forces against Ōnoki’s larger Iwagakure army, while Hatake Sakumo arrived and fought the Tsuchikage.
• Guy mastered new martial skills and used the Eight Gates to save Kurenai, Aburame Shikuroo, and other Konoha ninja from Ōnoki’s Dust Release.
• Hatake Sakumo severely injured Ōnoki, and Iwagakure retreated after learning that the Third Raikage A had invaded its heartland.
• Guy caught the exhausted White Fang and held off Iwagakure ninja as Kitsuchi carried the wounded Ōnoki away.
• Torifu Akimichi sent Guy, Ebisu, and Shiranui Genma to reinforce Minato Namikaze in the Land of Grass, where they learned Kumogakure’s A-B Combo had retreated.
• During training, Guy provoked Obito into awakening his one-tomoe Sharingan with the Thousand Years of Death.
• Kakashi challenged Guy, but Guy broke through his Earth-Style defenses before Kakashi activated Lightning Fang: Rush.

Guy sparred with Minato, then transferred with Ebisu and Genma to the Land of Rivers, where they encountered Pakura and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. After committing to fight them, Guy killed Hozuki Kurisu with the Sixth Gate, and Pakura took the Spinach Pill.

• Guy opened the Sixth Gate in his spar with Minato and unleashed Morning Peacock, but Minato survived and won by striking him with a Rasengan after teleporting away.
• Guy, Ebisu, and Genma received transfer orders to the Land of Rivers, spent their merits on supplies and training, and left with Minato’s support.
• On the road, the trio found a dead Root ninja and waited nearby for orders, then encountered an injured Pakura beside the corpse.
• Guy and his teammates attacked Pakura, but a sand wall stopped Guy’s strike, and Pakura explained that Kirigakure was hunting her and that she had not killed the Root ninja.
• The Seven Ninja Swordsmen appeared, and Guy accepted a quest requiring him to defeat at least four of them as Ebisu and Genma chose to fight alongside him.
• Guy gave Pakura an Akimichi Clan secret medicine and opened the Sixth Gate while Ebisu and Genma drew Hozuki Kurisu into a charge.
• Guy killed Hozuki Kurisu with Morning Peacock and Lightning Release, Ebisu and Genma recovered Hiramekarei, and Pakura swallowed the Spinach Pill.
