Might Guy trained under Might Duy, entered the Ninja Academy, and helped Hatake Sakumo through a crisis before war threatened the village. As the story left off, Duy had taught Guy the first three of the Eight Inner Gates, and Guy was preparing to grow stronger for the coming battles.

• Might Guy activated the Monk System, trained with Might Duy, and earned a chance to enter the Ninja Academy after reaching genin-level taijutsu.
• Might Guy joined a class with Kakashi, Obito, Kurenai, Rin, and other students, then bonded with Obito through shared training.
• Might Guy helped Kakashi face the villagers’ condemnation of Hatake Sakumo, then used the academy loudspeaker to defend Sakumo and encourage him to return.
• Might Guy and his classmates faced a giant bear in the mountains, where Guy defeated it with the perfected Vajra Leg and earned the nickname Konoha’s Vajra Beast.

Might Guy advanced from Academy missions to the war front, becoming a Genin and then a Chunin while protecting his teammates and defeating Iwagakure shinobi. The arc ended with Guy and Team 9 stationed on a ridge, preparing to face an advancing force of two thousand enemy soldiers.

• Guy and Kurenai promised to team up on missions, and Guy vowed to be her strongest shield.
• During a live combat exercise, Guy rescued injured classmates from Scarface and killed the rogue Chunin, then received a mission reward and recognition for his actions.

Guy warned Konoha that Sunagakure was preparing to attack, but Sarutobi Sosuke punished him for sounding the alarm. When the assault came, Choza took command and Guy helped turn the battle against Rasa’s forces, ending the stretch as he struck at Pakura with his newly forged Du'e Blade.

• Lu Yi helped Konoha break Iwagakure’s earth-wall assault, and Nara Shikaku ordered the army to advance, forcing Iwagakure to retreat after heavy losses.
• Guy warned Choza that Sunagakure might attack Kikyo Mountain, then wrote Hatake Sakumo seeking reinforcements, but Sarutobi Sosuke exposed and punished him by ordering him to guard the ridge alone.

After helping Konoha win at Kikyo Mountain, Guy returned home, supported war orphans, and was assigned to the Land of Waves front. There, Team Nine’s reconnaissance mission turned into an ambush, leaving Guy facing Mei Terumi while his teammates fought Hozuki Mangetsu and Hyuga Yuma struggled against Ao.

• Guy’s Du'e shattered against Pakura, but its strike broke through her obsessions, and she left the battlefield despite Rasa’s orders, and Orochimaru then bound Rasa, summoned Manda, and forced Sunagakure’s retreat.
• After the battle, Guy returned to Konoha with Ebisu and Genma, learned that Sarutobi Sosuke had been disciplined, and received Choza’s custom dark-gold nunchucks for his merit points.
• Guy gave all his money, including the 300,000 ryo from Might Duy, to Yakushi Nonō’s orphanage, and the Third Hokage later praised his service and generosity.
• Guy, Ebisu, and Genma joined Ninth Squad under Hyuga Yuma on the Land of Waves front, where they captured a Kirigakure supply ship and encountered Ao, Hozuki Mangetsu, and Mei Terumi.
• When Team Nine investigated a suspected Kirigakure withdrawal near Mist Island, Guy detected an abnormality in the fog and warned Yuma against pursuing the fleeing enemy ship.
