Background

Rias is the red-haired successor of the high-class Gremory family and the president of Kuoh Academy's Occult Research Club. She oversees Koma Village, her family’s territory in the human world, while struggling against an arranged engagement that can only be dissolved by defeating her fiancé in a Rating Game. 37 70

When the vampire known as the Blood Moon Princess arrives in Kuoh, Rias initially treats her as a potential danger to both the academy and her territory. Kiba Yuto's testimony that Moonlit saved and compensated him changes Rias's view: she begins considering the vampire a recruitable ally rather than an immediate threat. 36 37

Rias and Moonlit quickly discover that they have the same goal: each wants the other as her servant. Neither yields at first, but Rias later accepts Moonlit's offer in exchange for help defeating Riser Phenex and escaping her engagement. Moonlit turns Rias into her servant through a bite, granting her access to the shared effects of Sephiroths Cup. 42 65 66

Her new bond with Moonlit does not remove her position as King of her own peerage. Instead, it allows Rias and her retainers to retain their Evil Piece connections while receiving Moonlit's bloodline, Stigmata, weapons, healing, and shared powers. 66 67
