But for some reason, Wei Dong had absolutely no idea where to start. It was as if the divine techniques had nothing to do with him at all.
Could it be that I'll never understand divine techniques in my entire life?
With nowhere to begin, Wei Dong went to ask Whis. But even Whis didn't know why—after all, he'd been born at a level Wei Dong could never hope to reach.
Then Wei Dong thought of the Old Supreme Kai. He'd lived for so long, so surely those years hadn't been wasted. And with all his experience, he had to know something.
Wei Dong used Instant Transmission to arrive where the Old Supreme Kai was. But the Old Supreme Kai didn't seem happy to see him. After all, Wei Dong had broken his promise. Never mind asking him a question—he wouldn't even give Wei Dong the time of day.
Wei Dong decided there was no point in being polite. "You watched my fight with the God of Destruction, Beerus, out in Earth's outer space, right? With my current strength, even if I killed you, Beerus wouldn't say a thing. Besides, he doesn't even know you've been unsealed. If he found out, would he kill you? So, Old Supreme Kai, should I tell him or not?"
Kibito, standing nearby, swore at him. "How dare you threaten the Old Supreme Kai! You're just a human, and you dare speak to a god like that? I think you—" Before Kibito could finish, the Old Supreme Kai punched him on the head. "You damn fool! Watch your mouth! Who asked for your opinion? Go cool off somewhere! Just look at yourself—how dare you talk to Wei Dong with such a big mouth?"
As Kibito walked away, the Old Supreme Kai kept cursing him, as if he were venting all his frustration on Kibito.
Poor Kibito. Wei Dong felt sorry for him for about a second.
After the Old Supreme Kai finished scolding him, he hurried over and said, "I'll tell you everything. Whatever you want to know, I'll tell you. I won't hide a thing. I swear it on my life."
When I asked why I couldn't master a divine technique like Ultra Instinct, the Old Supreme Kai said, "Of course you can't. Divine techniques require you to hold a divine position, or to have even a trace of divine energy from birth. But that's rare. Usually, people with divine energy have parents who were gods, or they're substitutes or servants for some deity."
"So there's no way I can learn one?" I asked.
The Old Supreme Kai replied, "There is a way. You must have seen that Saiyan on Earth, the one called Son Goku. When he transformed, his hair turned red. That form is called Super Saiyan God. With a name like that, it's obviously divine. But it still has very little divine energy, so learning a divine technique is impossible. You'd need to become an even more powerful Super Saiyan God."
Wei Dong thought it over. That did make sense, but he didn't want to become a god or a substitute. Otherwise, he'd be tied down and unable to do anything.
The Old Supreme Kai could tell Wei Dong was worried, so he said, "It doesn't matter if you don't have divine energy. I've heard—though it's only a rumor, and I'm not sure it's true—the World of the God of Destruction contains a separate dimension filled with divine energy. It might help you."
Wei Dong thought about it and realized that was true. Son Goku had mastered Super Saiyan God Blue in that separate dimension.
Then Wei Dong said goodbye to the Old Supreme Kai. But he had never actually planned to master Super Saiyan God.
Wei Dong wanted to focus on pure strength, and Super Saiyan 4 looked incredibly cool.
For now, mastering Super Saiyan God would probably be easy. The real problem was the trick to Ultra Instinct: not thinking, and letting the body attack and defend freely.
It sounded simple, but it was incredibly hard to master. Goku had managed to learn Ultra Instinct mainly for two reasons: first, he was calm by nature; second, he had trained under many different masters, so he knew a wide variety of moves. I didn't have his opportunities or his temperament.
As for Vegeta's Ultra Ego, that seemed like a transformation similar to the God of Destruction form, granting him the Power of Destruction. But Wei Dong didn't want to become a God of Destruction Candidate. With a cheapskate like Beerus, it'd be a miracle if he agreed to give me anything without me meeting some demand of his.
Whis might agree, but Beerus definitely wouldn't.
Wei Dong wasn't too worried about dealing with Ultra Ego. What really scared him was Son Goku with Ultra Instinct. Later on, he'd be impossible to beat.
Wait, if Son Goku's Ultra Instinct was all about dodging, what if I could ignore his dodges?
Wei Dong had seen it in the System Shop: level-one Precision Strike had a one percent chance to hit an opponent while ignoring their evasion. It cost only 20 System Coins. His eyes practically lit up, but he had barely any System Coins left.
So for now, he could only buy level one Precision Strike. To get more, he'd have to look for missions issued by the system, such as helping some planet deal with a crisis or defeating certain people.
