Seeing that Gaino and Laiya held no hostility toward him, Master Roshi relaxed his guard.
Master Roshi asked Gaino, "You say you are Saiyans from the universe? What kind of race is that? I've never heard of it. We Earthlings have always lived on this planet and have never been to space. How did you even know about Earth?"
Gaino replied, "That is a secret. Should I tell him I'm a transmigrator who knows the plot of Dragon Ball? We have no malicious intent in coming to Earth, so please, Master Roshi, don't be so tense."
High in the celestial palace, the Guardian heard Gaino's words and asked Popo, "Popo, do you know of the universe? Or what a Saiyan is?"
Popo replied, "I do not know, Guardian. I am merely your servant. I have always stayed on Earth and have never stepped foot outside of it."
"It seems these two Saiyans have no ill will toward our planet. If they wanted to destroy it, we would be powerless to stop them, as I can sense a massive amount of ki emanating from them."
"Popo feels it too," Popo said woodenly.
"You say you came to Earth to better master your ki, is that right?" Master Roshi asked.
"Yes. We traveled from a distant place to Earth because we heard that Earthlings focus their cultivation on ki. Masters like you, Master Roshi, have reached a state of perfection in its mastery." Gaino showered Master Roshi with praise.
Listening to Gaino's flattery, Master Roshi's little mustache twitched upward. I never imagined I, Master Roshi, had such a great reputation in the universe.
"That goes without saying! Who in the universe doesn't know of Master Roshi's fame?"
Laiya looked at her brother Gaino, her eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. Gaino-ge is just making things up one after another—doesn't he even blush?
Gaino seemed to sense Laiya's gaze. He coughed, cleared his throat, and said to Master Roshi, "Master Roshi, please teach us how to cultivate ki next!"
Master Roshi said, "Very well. Since you have traveled such a long way to Earth, I cannot let you leave empty-handed. Also, stop calling me Master Roshi. My name is Master Roshi, so you may call me Master Roshi."
"Understood, Master Roshi! Let's begin our ki cultivation!"
Laiya called out to Master Roshi, "Gaino-ge, is this old man really okay? Can he actually teach us? Look, his combat power isn't even as high as ours!"
"Laiya, don't be rude! How can you measure a person solely by their combat power? As a grandmaster, Master Roshi is more than qualified to teach us. Say no more."
Gaino bowed to Master Roshi. "Master Roshi, please forgive my sister; she doesn't understand the proper etiquette."
Master Roshi laughed. "It's fine, it's fine. Your sister certainly has a spirited personality!"
Master Roshi said to Laiya, "You are right, little girl. Your ki is far more abundant than mine, but your application of it is indeed very crude."
Laiya retorted, "If you're so good, then show us what you've got. Let me tell you, old man, we Saiyans only worship the strong. It's not enough to just talk."
"And how would you like me to prove it, little girl?" Master Roshi asked.
"How about this! You said our application of ki is too crude, right? Let's have a beam struggle. If you can beat me, I'll believe you're the real deal. How about it?"
"Laiya, don't be reckless! Your ki is so strong—what if you hurt Master Roshi?"
Master Roshi interjected, "It's fine. It's just a beam struggle. While my ki isn't as vast as yours, I am very confident in my mastery of it. Come, little girl."
Laiya extended her palm, and a ki blast instantly appeared. Opposite her, Master Roshi pressed his palms together and unleashed his signature technique: Kamehameha.
The two beams collided, causing the seawater around the island to explode. As the struggle dragged on, Laiya gradually found herself at a disadvantage.
Master Roshi pushed his energy further, and the Kamehameha slammed into Laiya, blasting her away.
Laiya's body plunged into the sea. Gaino rushed to where she had fallen, but Master Roshi called out, "Don't worry, the girl is fine. I know exactly how much force to use; I wouldn't hurt her."
Sure enough, a moment later, a figure burst from the water. Laiya flew to Master Roshi's side, bowed, and said, "Old man, I keep my word. You won. I'm impressed."
Master Roshi nodded.
"Good. Now that that's settled, let's begin the training! You two, sit down. Use your hearts to feel the ki within you, then let it circulate through your bodies. Slowly, let it flow. This way, when you fight, you can mobilize your internal ki, and your stamina consumption will become increasingly efficient."
Gaino and Laiya began their training with Master Roshi, and a month passed.
One day, on the island, two figures moved with blinding speed as the sounds of combat echoed. It was Laiya and Gaino sparring; after a month of training, they had perfectly mastered the use of their internal ki.
Above the island, Master Roshi watched them spar. Bang! Bang! The sounds of impact rang out as the sea churned. Suddenly, a figure streaked across the surface of the water, nearly crashing into Master Roshi.
It was Laiya, sent flying by Gaino. Gaino landed before her, and Laiya said, "Gaino-ge, let's stop. You win every time we spar. It's no fun, no fun at all."
Gaino said, "Laiya, you still need to work hard! Through this month of training, my ki has grown to 100,000, but yours has grown even faster—from 3,000 to 90,000." Such an increase in combat power made even Gaino envious.
Gaino said, "Laiya, your combat power is growing so fast! You truly are an elite warrior."
"Haha, of course! I feel like if I work just a little harder, I'll surpass you, Gaino-ge."
Gaino replied, "Then you must keep at it."
"Mhm, I will, Gaino-ge!" Laiya answered.
At this moment, Master Roshi said to Gaino, "Gaino, I have never seen geniuses like you. In just one month, you've mastered ki to this level. I'm even a bit jealous of your talent."
Laiya said, "Old man, that's not something you can envy. We Saiyans grow stronger through battle."
"Growing through battle... your race is truly born for combat."
"You're right. We Saiyans are known throughout the universe as the Warrior Race."
"No wonder. I have nothing left to teach you. You may go."
Gaino said, "Master Roshi, thank you for your guidance. We shall meet again."
With that, Gaino flew off.
"Old man, I'm leaving too. Goodbye!" Laiya followed Gaino, disappearing from Master Roshi's sight.
