Background / History

Tang Hao was celebrated as the youngest person on the continent to reach the Title Douluo rank. Upon advancing, he became famous by forcing several Spirit Hall Title Douluos to retreat, and he was once considered the most gifted genius in Clear Sky Sect history. Despite this reputation, he later described himself as “a sinner living under an assumed name.” 12 124

Tang Hao’s pursuit of a Hundred-Thousand-Year soul ring shaped his life and the fate of the Clear Sky Sect. During his confrontation with Huo Yuhao, he admitted that he believed such a ring was necessary to revitalize the sect and that he ultimately set his sights on Ah Yin after learning that his elder brother Tang Xiao loved her. 190

After Ah Yin was reduced to a weakened Blue Silver Emperor, Tang Hao hid her in a dark cave behind a waterfall and sealed her with a Soul Power restriction. The enclosure barely sustained her, while preventing her recovery. When Huo Yuhao broke the restriction and rescued Ah Yin, Tang Hao panicked, rushed back to Nuoding City, and destroyed the cave after finding her gone. 152 153 154

Appearance

Tang Hao is a tall, broad-shouldered middle-aged man whose imposing presence remains evident even when he hides his identity.

  • Often wears a black cloak or robe that conceals most of his face. 12 154
  • Has a stubbled chin and a hoarse voice. 12
  • Was initially recognized by Tang San as the previously drunken-looking father he struggled to reconcile with the upright figure before him. 129
  • His hair had turned gray by the time Tang Xiao confronted him after the Spirit City battle. 191

Personality

Tang Hao is fiercely proud of both his strength and Clear Sky Sect heritage. He regards the Clear Sky Hammer as superior to other weapon martial souls and pushes Tang San to prove himself worthy of his bloodline. 129 130 181

He is also calculating and ruthless. Tang Hao monitored Tang San from the shadows, arranged for Grandmaster to keep Tang San close to Xiao Wu, and viewed Xiao Wu as a prospective source of a Hundred-Thousand-Year soul ring and soul bone. He later regretted not killing Huo Yuhao when he had the opportunity. 12 153 185

His paternal concern is genuine but destructive. He personally trained Tang San, saved him from Shi Nian’s illusion, and sought resources to strengthen him; however, he also tolerated Tang San’s life-draining External Soul Bone and directed him toward a lawless place where killing could accelerate his growth. 145 160 161

Abilities & Skills

Title Douluo Cultivation

Tang Hao is a Level 95 Title Douluo whose full strength was stated to be sufficient to contend with a Level 97 Title Douluo. 153

  • His displayed soul-ring configuration consists of two yellow, two purple, four black, and one red Hundred-Thousand-Year soul ring. 185
  • He can fly while carrying Tang San and cross great distances at high speed. 129 153
  • Even without soul skills, his Clear Sky Hammer strike forced Huo Yuhao back in their first exchange. 189
  • His power was nevertheless insufficient to defeat Huo Yuhao at Spirit City, where Huo Yuhao repeatedly disrupted his techniques and froze his final attack. 189 190

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang Hao’s martial soul is the Clear Sky Hammer, a tool-type martial soul associated with the Clear Sky Sect.

  • Uses the hammer for overwhelming direct force and defensive Soul Power barriers. 189
  • His fourth soul skill creates a powerful black barrier around the hammer that can block multiple coordinated attacks. 189
  • He used the hammer to reverse a waterfall and expose Ah Yin’s hidden cave. 154
  • He trained Tang San to use the martial soul rather than relying solely on Blue Silver Grass and hidden weapons. 130

Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer

Tang Hao mastered and taught the Clear Sky Sect’s Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer technique to Tang San.

  • Builds power through successive hammer strikes; Tang San eventually achieved an eighty-one-strike sequence under Tang Hao’s training. 145
  • Tang Hao considered Tang San’s prior use of the Clear Sky Hammer too ordinary and blamed this lack of technique for his defeat by Huo Yuhao. 130
  • During his own battle with Huo Yuhao, Tang Hao was unable to maintain the technique’s chain after Huo Yuhao interrupted him. 189

Divine Slaughter’s Domain

Tang Hao possesses Divine Slaughter’s Domain, a killing-intent domain later noted to carry the aura of a god. 185 194

  • Suppressed Dugu Bo’s strength by roughly ten percent while increasing Tang Hao’s own aura by a similar amount. 185
  • Clashed evenly with Sword Douluo’s Seven Kill Sword Domain. 185
  • Was used against Huo Yuhao during the battle at the Pope’s Palace. 190

Great Sumeru Hammer and Ring Detonation

Tang Hao inherited the Clear Sky Sect’s ultimate hammer arts.

  • Used Clear Sky Avatar and Ring Detonation after Huo Yuhao temporarily incapacitated him. 190
  • Ring Detonation shatters soul rings and channels their power into the Clear Sky Hammer. 190
  • Detonating a Hundred-Thousand-Year soul ring can produce a strike comparable to a Level 98 Title Douluo. 205
  • The technique sacrifices accumulated power and leaves him unable to sustain a prolonged battle safely. 185 190

Soul Bones

  • Tang Hao possessed a left-leg soul bone and a right-arm soul bone.
  • After his capture, he severed his left leg and right arm to remove the bones, then gave them to Tang Xiao so the Clear Sky Sect would be more willing to protect Tang San. 191
