Personality
Strategic and patient: Mu Guiyun deliberately stalls his decision between the Spirit Department and Spirit Tool Department, leveraging both sides to eventually secure a dual-core discipleship under Mu En 2 35 19. He carefully calculates his moves, such as feigning ignorance when Sky Dream Ice Silkworm tries to gain his trust 16.
Confident and cunning: He bets heavily on himself in the Inter-grade Challenge Tournament, knowingly exploiting the information gap to make a profit 30 31 33. He deliberately performs poorly in early fights to keep his odds low and maximize his winnings 33. He later confidently challenges Shrek's reserve tournament team alone, considering a one-versus-thirteen battle advantageous to himself 90.
Calm and composed under pressure: Even when the Sea God Pavilion elders argue over his department allocation and when facing powerful opponents like Ling Luochen, he remains unruffled and focused 35 33. He handles tense negotiations with Xian Lin’er and Yan Shaozhe without losing his cool 1 2. During the confrontation with the remnant soul of Ghost Douluo Gui Mei, he rapidly identifies the enemy's dependence on the black mist and directs his team’s retreat before facing the threat himself 69.
Dedicated and hardworking: He throws himself into cultivation and Soul Tool research, scheduling every minute of his day—including replacing rest with meditation—and reaches Soul Power Level 38 by age 11 24. His mastery of the Thunder Control Technique also sees a major breakthrough through sustained effort 24. After obtaining the Ice Empress’s power, he spends two years stabilizing the externally gained cultivation before advancing beyond Level 50 58.
Playful and flirtatious: He frequently teases Tang Ya, calling her his girlfriend in public and joking about her affection 40. His interactions with Ma Xiaotao and Xian Lin’er are also marked by lighthearted banter and charm 2 37 40. He remains teasing toward Ma Xiaotao after returning from the Far North, while his growing number of female companions repeatedly creates jealousy and tension 56 76 88.
Protective and caring: He leaves Tang Ya meat buns and a note before his spirit ring trip, and later helps her financially when she is struggling as a maid 7 24. He takes an interest in Jiang Nannan’s mother’s illness and attempts to obtain a Black Tortoise Divine Pill to cure her 34 39. He also brings Ye Guyi to Shrek rather than leaving her to investigate Evil Soul Masters alone and takes in the destitute Lilith, arranging for her care under Mother Jiang 72 73.
Manipulative and scheming: He uses acting and psychological pressure to extract information, such as threatening Baldy Zhao with a fake “Happy Brand Blade” to force a confession 28. He also deliberately calls Xian Lin’er “Senior Sister” in front of Ma Xiaotao to provoke reactions 2. He recognizes Ye Guyi’s Sacred Angel martial soul as highly useful against Evil Soul Masters and actively plans to recruit her as a future Shrek asset 67 72.
Observant and curious: He immediately notices the black-haired girl in class who remains indifferent to his introduction, piquing his interest 3. He also quickly reads people’s intentions, such as Yan Shaozhe’s ulterior motive for suggesting outer court attendance 2. His sharp spiritual perception and metal affinity allow him to identify hidden Soul Tool traces in the Far North and locate a concealed cave 52.
Authoritative and pragmatic: Upon becoming Freshman Class One’s homeroom teacher, Mu Guiyun quickly suppresses the class’s disorder, disciplines troublesome students, and appoints Wu Feng as disciplinary committee member by exploiting her desire for authority and recognition 74 75.
Abilities and Skills
Kusilan Element Stone Martial Soul
Mu Guiyun’s martial soul is the legendary Kusilan Element Stone, originating from the world of Starry Sky 1. This unique martial soul grants him access to eight elemental abilities, each unlocked randomly upon obtaining a soul ring (except for the seventh ring’s Spirit Avatar) 1. Additionally, each soul ring bestows a random associated Seventh Sense—a supplementary ability that, unlike the eight core elements, is considered a bonus due to the vast number of possible Seventh Senses 1. A key trade-off of this martial soul is that Mu Guiyun loses the ability to use any fixed soul skills other than his Spirit Avatar, meaning his combat effectiveness relies entirely on his development and comprehension of his Seventh Senses 1. Despite this limitation, the physical enhancements from soul rings and soul bone skills remain usable, making it worthwhile for him to pursue high-age soul rings 1.
By Level 50, Mu Guiyun possesses five soul rings, including two hundred-thousand-year rings created through the sacrifices of the Ice Empress and Snow Empress 52 59 90. The Ice Empress and Snow Empress retain consciousness as Wisdom Soul Rings in his Spirit Consciousness Sea, allowing them to assist him directly in battle 52 58 70.
- Applications: The eight elemental abilities provide versatile offensive, defensive, and utility options; the random Seventh Senses offer unpredictable but potentially powerful bonuses; high-age soul rings (up to ten thousand years) are absorbable due to the martial soul’s unique nature, enhancing physical attributes.
- Limitations: No fixed soul skills; requires deep personal mastery of each unlocked element and Seventh Sense; randomness of unlocks means Mu Guiyun cannot control which ability he gains next.
Art of Metal Control
The Art of Metal Control is one of the two elements Mu Guiyun unlocked at the Soul Grandmaster level, allowing him to manipulate all metallic elements within a certain range 1. On the Douluo Continent, particularly in the era of The Unrivaled Tang Sect, this ability proves exceptionally effective against Soul Engineers, as it enables him to disassemble or repurpose their metallic tools and weapons at will 1. For instance, during a hunt he used the Art of Metal Control to decompose the metal buttons of his coat and reform them into a long blade resembling a Tang dao 10. This ability also underpins his soul tool crafting, granting him a metal affinity that allows life-bound Soul Tools like his Gilded Langxiao to fuse perfectly with his Martial Soul Avatar armor 24.
By the mission at Chasing Moon City, Mu Guiyun can manipulate vast quantities of metal at once, create defensive constructs such as the Southern Cross Shield, and condense metal into swarms of knightly swords 69. His affinity also allows him to sense the presence of Soul Tools over considerable distances, leading him to a hidden cave in the Far North 52.
- Applications: Disarming enemy Soul Engineers by manipulating their metal equipment; shaping raw metals into weapons or tools on the fly; enhancing soul tool crafting and fusion with his own martial soul; constructing shields, weapons, wings, and large-scale metal bodies.
- Limitations: Only affects metallic elements; range is limited; requires concentration and soul power to maintain control.
Art of Ether
The Art of Ether was also unlocked at the Soul Grandmaster level, but for over a year Mu Guiyun could only use it to influence air currents, leaving its full potential unclear 1. Later, he demonstrated a more advanced application during a battle against the Moon-Eroding Wolf Emperor, where he used the Art of Ether to cover the moon—weakening the beast’s lunar-attribute power 15. This suggests the ability can manipulate atmospheric or ethereal forces beyond simple airflow.
- Applications: Controlling air currents for propulsion or defense; potentially interfering with elemental or environmental phenomena (e.g., obscuring moonlight).
- Limitations: Initially very limited in scope; requires further development to unlock its deeper capabilities.
Lightning Element
Mu Guiyun gained the Lightning element upon absorbing his third soul ring from the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear 13. This element became a core part of his offensive arsenal. During the Inter-grade Challenge Tournament, he deliberately suppressed his abilities in early matches to keep betting odds low, but later revealed his true power against Ling Luochen by summoning a thunderstorm—a display that shocked the audience and confirmed his mastery of lightning 32 33. His Thunder Control Technique has seen major breakthroughs, bringing him closer to the ultimate form of lightning, though the path to Ultimate Thunder remains long 24.
- Applications: Direct offensive lightning attacks; summoning thunderstorms to affect the battlefield; high-speed movement enhanced by lightning (implied by his agility in combat).
- Limitations: Still developing; not yet at Ultimate Thunder level; requires significant soul power for large-scale effects.
Art of Ice Control
Mu Guiyun awakened the Art of Ice Control after the Ice Empress sacrificed herself to become his fourth Wisdom Soul Ring 52. The ability grants him Extreme Ice-level control and exceptional resistance to the Far North’s cold, allowing him to remain lightly dressed even in its core region 52. Both the Ice Empress and Snow Empress sense an unusual intimacy in his ice-element power, causing them to suspect a connection between Mu Guiyun and the ancient Ice God 52 58.
He can employ the element defensively on a massive scale, layering more than ten meters of ice over earth walls through Frozen Snow Mountain, and can form intricate ice constructs such as a scorpion in his palm 58 69. His Ultimate Ice becomes a major source of awe among his allies, particularly Ling Luochen 56 71.
- Applications: Extreme-cold resistance; creation of ice constructs; large-scale defensive freezing; reinforcement of earth defenses; cooperation with the Ice and Snow Empresses.
- Limitations: The full extent of the element remains under development; powerful techniques require substantial soul power and may depend on the support of his Wisdom Soul Rings.
Art of Earth Control
Mu Guiyun gained the Art of Earth Control after absorbing the Snow Empress as his fifth Wisdom Soul Ring 59. He quickly demonstrates battlefield-scale manipulation during the battle with Gui Mei, raising six granite walls from the ground to form the Six-Sided Stone Shield around his allies 69.
- Applications: Raising walls and terrain defenses; sealing or sheltering allies; combining earth structures with ice for layered protection.
- Limitations: Most effective where usable earth or stone is available; its advanced offensive and utility applications remain unrevealed.
Fire Control Technique
Mu Guiyun possesses a Fire Control Technique capable of producing destructive large-area attacks. During his one-versus-thirteen battle against Shrek’s reserve team, he unleashes Lava-Burning Volcano, forcing the combatants to evacuate the arena and prompting Xuan Zi to stop the battle for the students’ safety 90.
- Applications: Large-scale fire and lava attacks; battlefield denial; forcing enemy movement and evacuation.
- Limitations: High collateral danger makes its use unsuitable around vulnerable allies or in confined areas.
Explosive Lollipop (Seventh Sense)
This innate Seventh Sense was awakened after absorbing the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear’s soul ring 12. It allows Mu Guiyun to turn any inanimate object he touches into a bomb 12. The activation method—licking the object with his tongue—is visually unappealing and unhygienic, but the effect compensates for his current lack of powerful offensive means from his ether and gold elements 13. This ability proved invaluable during his hunt for soul rings, giving him a potent tool for both offense and area denial.
Against Gui Mei, whose martial soul is immune to ordinary physical attacks, Mu Guiyun turns metal swords into explosive weapons and damages the opponent through the resulting energy rather than the blades themselves 69.
- Applications: Transforming everyday objects into explosives; ambushing opponents by arming environmental items; creating traps or diversions; bypassing certain physical immunities through explosive energy.
- Limitations: Requires direct physical contact (tongue); hygiene concerns; objects must be inanimate; likely consumes soul power based on bomb size or power.
Metal Frenzy (Seventh Sense)
Metal Frenzy is a fully activated Seventh Sense that allows Mu Guiyun to draw upon the metal in his storage Soul Tools and create a massive metal body or large-scale metal armaments 69 90. When confronting Gui Mei, its activation accompanies the emergence of his two hundred-thousand-year soul rings and allows metal elements to overwhelm the surrounding black mist 69. In the reserve-team battle, he uses it to transform into a giant metal creature and capture Wang Dong in his hand 90.
- Applications: Large-scale metallic transformation; overwhelming physical force; mass weapon creation; restraining opponents; battlefield control.
- Limitations: Requires substantial metal reserves and consumes considerable soul power; its large form risks collateral damage.
Hand of God
The Hand of God is an ability obtained after Mu Guiyun absorbs the Snow Empress’s soul ring 59. He manifests it in battle as the Evil-Breaking Dragon Soul Spear, a silver-white spear used to engage Gui Mei and disperse the enemy’s ghostly clones 69.
- Applications: Manifesting powerful weapons; combating evil and spiritual enemies; close-quarters offense.
- Limitations: Its broader forms and conditions have not yet been fully disclosed.
Metal Six Wings
Mu Guiyun can form Metal Six Wings for flight through his Art of Metal Control. He uses them to remain behind Xuan Zi during aerial travel and avoid the discomfort suffered by the rest of the group during Xuan Zi’s reckless descent 91.
- Applications: Sustained aerial mobility; independent flight; rapid repositioning.
- Limitations: Requires available metal and continued soul power expenditure.
Gusilan Elemental Needle
Mu Guiyun creates the Gusilan Elemental Needle from Kusilan Element Stone fragments and Hell’s Blood 65. The needle can stimulate and awaken a person’s Seventh Sense, but its use carries an extreme danger of turning the recipient into a Fallen Angel 65. Lilith is aware that the device can force a soul master’s potential to its limit at the cost of near-certain death 85.
- Applications: Artificially stimulating latent Seventh Sense potential.
- Limitations: Extremely dangerous; likely fatal to recipients and carries a high risk of corruption into a Fallen Angel.
Gilded Langxiao (Life-Bound Soul Armor)
Mu Guiyun’s first piece of soul armor, the Gilded Langxiao, is a Level 4 life-bound Soul Tool fused with his metal element origin, granting it infinite upgradability 24. Its core is a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear right arm bone, with a massive amount of Gold Crystal—a top-tier rare metal—carved into its structure 24. The armguard contains thirty-two Soul Power Circulation Reflux Arrays, far exceeding standard Level 4 specifications, including arrays for energy storage, compression, armor-piercing output, elemental conversion, and endurance enhancement 24. Additionally, twenty-seven small auxiliary arrays provide defense, amplification, repair, and a link to Mu Guiyun’s Dark Gold Terrorclaw external soul bone, elevating his armor-piercing capabilities to a level comparable to some Level 7 Soul Tools 24.
During the battle with Gui Mei, Gilded Langxiao combines with Gongyang Mo’s Rainbow Dragon support to raise Mu Guiyun’s effective soul power to that of a high-rank Soul Emperor 69.
- Applications: Enhanced physical defense and attack amplification; integrated armor-piercing ability; sustainable soul power usage through reflux arrays; future upgrade potential.
- Limitations: Currently only a prototype at Level 4; requires further refinement and strengthening to reach higher tiers; dependent on Mu Guiyun’s soul power level for full effectiveness.
Soul Bone Integration and Experimental Abilities
Mu Guiyun has developed a theory of creating Soul-Guided Armor using soul bones of the same origin as one’s martial soul, inspired by Xian Lin’er’s Green Flame Dragon Spear 21. His eight elements each serve as independent martial soul origins, making him uniquely suited to this approach 21. He received nine low-tier soul bones (two to three thousand years) from his teacher Mu En for experiments 23, and later acquired a 15,000-year Golden Radiance Left Arm Bone with a passive effect that increases Radiant-attribute attack power by 30% and continuously recovers soul power after martial soul activation—intended for his Radiant Battle Armor 41. He also obtained a Lone Bamboo soul bone at a treasure fair 41. His Dark Gold Terrorclaw external soul bone, obtained alongside his right arm bone from the bear, can be used with his Dark Gold Terrorclaw to carve soul bones, as demonstrated when he tested its hardness against a metal-attribute soul bone 23.
The Ice Empress’s sacrifice leaves an Ice Jade Scorpion tattoo on his body, while the Snow Empress joins his soul ring configuration as another hundred-thousand-year-level Wisdom Soul Ring 52 59. His confrontation with Gui Mei also exposes him to the principle of complete bone armor, though Gui Mei’s Black Prison Ghost Armor itself belongs to the enemy and is destroyed after the battle 70 71.
- Applications: Potential to create custom soul armor pieces from soul bones of matching attributes; passive benefits from soul bones (e.g., power boosts, soul regeneration); the Dark Gold Terrorclaw serves as both a weapon and a carving tool for soul bone crafting.
- Limitations: Requires compatible soul bones with high preservation; crafting process is complex and dangerous; experimental stage—not yet fully realized.

Relationships
Ma Xiaotao
Ma Xiaotao is one of Mu Guiyun's closest companions from the inner courtyard, their relationship built on familiarity and easy-going affection. From their earliest interactions, Mu Guiyun demonstrates an understanding of her habits and temper, such as when he finds her engrossed in eating and teases her about her new nickname, "Flame Madman" 2. Their bond is characterized by mutual care and protectiveness. When Mu Guiyun awakens after his spirit ring acquisition trip in the Star Dou Great Forest, Ma Xiaotao is found crying with relief upon seeing him conscious, displaying her deep concern and affection 18. She is fiercely defensive of him; during the soul hunting expedition, when Wu Ming teases Mu Guiyun, Ma Xiaotao immediately jumps to his defense, leading to a playful scuffle between the two women 8. Her protective nature also manifests as jealousy. She feels threatened by Mu Guiyun's attention toward other women, particularly Zhang Lexuan and Han Ruoruo. When Mu Guiyun calls Cai Mei'er "Senior Sister" at dinner, Ma Xiaotao becomes visibly uncomfortable and later, upon seeing Mu Guiyun intimately chatting with a strange girl, she is tormented by a mix of inner fire and evil fire, demanding to know where he went and who he was with 2 29. Despite her fiery temper, Ma Xiaotao's feelings for Mu Guiyun are evident; she hopes he will join the Spirit Department so they can spend more time together, and she acts shy and flustered when Cai Mei'er coaxes her secrets out of her 2 3. Mu En himself notes that Ma Xiaotao is too blunt and hot-tempered to be a future Pavilion Master, but her devotion to Mu Guiyun is unquestionable 7.
Following Mu Guiyun’s return from the Far North, Ma Xiaotao eagerly greets him and is excited by his newly acquired Ultimate Ice attribute 56. She later clashes with him during his one-versus-thirteen test, deploying Phoenix Flame and enhancement abilities but being overwhelmed by his superior power 90. Although she reacts angrily when discovering his involvement with Tang Ya, she eventually accepts his explanation regarding Tang Ya’s importance to Shrek’s future; after spending three days together, her relationship with Mu Guiyun becomes closer and more trusting 88 89. She also seeks to cultivate with him in hopes of evolving her Phoenix Flame 91.
Xian Lin'er
Xian Lin'er, the dean of the Spirit Tool Department, shares a complex and increasingly intimate relationship with Mu Guiyun that evolves from tense negotiation to coercive romance. Initially, their relationship is marked by power dynamics: Mu Guiyun threatens to join the Spirit Department unless she gives him fifty thousand tons of rare metals, then surprises her by massaging her shoulders, softening her stern demeanor 1. Over time, their bond deepens as they spend time together in the Soul Tool Laboratory, hinting at a growing closeness and potential romantic feelings 39. Mu Guiyun becomes more assertive, manipulative, and coercive, forcing Xian Lin'er to acknowledge their relationship and threatening to expose it to her husband, Qian Duoduo 38. Xian Lin'er struggles with guilt and moral conflict but eventually succumbs to his demands, even suggesting that Mu Guiyun move into their home — a proposal that the oblivious Qian Duoduo joyfully accepts 38. Their physical intimacy grows more explicit, with Mu Guiyun referring to her as "Senior Sister" and playfully asserting that "women are like fine wine; the older they get, the more mellow and fragrant they become" 40. Xian Lin'er, despite her initial reluctance, shows signs of warming up to him and becomes possessive in her own right, elbowing Yan Shaozhe aside to offer Mu Guiyun "good things" — rare metals — and competing for his attention 34 39. Their relationship is further complicated by Xian Lin'er's guilt when Mu Guiyun calls her out in front of her husband, yet she cannot resist his advances 38.
Mu Guiyun possesses a key to Xian Lin’er and Qian Duoduo’s Sea God Island residence and treats it as a familiar place to stay 19. During his Far North absence, Xian Lin’er becomes increasingly restless while awaiting his return, reflecting the depth of her attachment to him 52. She remains eager to return home and spend time with him after his return to Shrek 56.
Tang Ya
Mu Guiyun's relationship with Tang Ya is flirtatious, playful, and evolves into a publicly acknowledged romantic connection. They first meet as desk mates in the outer courtyard, where Mu Guiyun learns about her financial struggles after the decline of the Tang Sect and the loss of her parents 4. Over time, their friendship deepens; Mu Guiyun leaves her a note and meat buns before leaving for a spirit ring acquisition trip — a thoughtful gesture that touches her 7. Their dynamic is marked by playful banter and physical affection. Tang Ya frequently dives into his arms, and Mu Guiyun reciprocates by wrapping his arms around her, patting her bottom, and calling her his girlfriend in front of others, such as at the Treasure Appreciation Fair where he introduces her as "my girlfriend" 34 40. Tang Ya, though initially shy and flustered, responds positively and does not refute the title 40. Their relationship causes distress to Bei Bei, who is also pursuing Tang Ya, and Mu Guiyun deliberately displays his affection for her in front of Bei Bei, pulling her into his arms in public and causing Tang Ya to go limp 30. Tang Ya shows trust and dependence on Mu Guiyun, borrowing money from him to bet on his tournament matches, and she becomes more cheerful and carefree under his influence 30 25. They travel together to Lingdou City to treat Jiang Nannan's mother, and their interactions along the journey are affectionate, with Tang Ya showing trust in his ability to provide for her 43.
Tang Ya’s desire to keep pace with Mu Guiyun and avenge her parents later leaves her vulnerable to a mysterious voice offering the power of “The Emperor” through a sinister scythe 48. She grows closer to Jiang Nannan and Ye Guyi, while continuing to display strong affection for Mu Guiyun, including attempting to sneak into his room during Shrek’s stay in Star Luo City 76 85 93. After confronting the conflict caused by Mu Guiyun’s relationship with Ma Xiaotao, she accepts his explanation and forgives him alongside Jiang Nannan 88 89.
Jiang Nannan
Jiang Nannan is introduced to Mu Guiyun through Tang Ya as the recognized school beauty of the third grade. Mu Guiyun is immediately struck by her melancholic aura and her physical attributes — blonde hair, rabbit ears, and long legs — which he considers "the strongest" 34. Their relationship initially revolves around Mu Guiyun's desire to help her. He learns about her mother's serious illness and mentions the Black Tortoise Divine Pill, a rare cure exclusive to the Xuanming Sect 34. Determined to obtain it, Mu Guiyun uses his influence and resources, including convincing Elder Xuan Zi to travel to the Xuanming Sect and trading a 15,000-year Black Tortoise Torso Bone for the pill 39. Mu En teases Mu Guiyun about his motives, asking if he is "eyeing that young girl," but Mu Guiyun claims his actions are for the sake of the academy 39. Jiang Nannan, for her part, appears reserved and innocent, feeling discomfort around unwanted attention from men like Shen Xinghui 43. She accompanies Mu Guiyun and Tang Ya on the trip to Lingdou City, and though her interactions with Mu Guiyun are less flirtatious than Tang Ya's, she is clearly grateful for his help and becomes part of his circle 43. Mu Guiyun's interest in her is partly aesthetic and partly compassionate, and he includes her in important activities, such as the Treasure Appreciation Fair 40.
Mu Guiyun ultimately arranges for a healing-type Titled Douluo to treat Mother Jiang, resolving Jiang Nannan’s greatest concern 78. She credits meeting him as the luckiest event of her life and recognizes the care he has given both her and her mother 78. Though initially hurt by the complications of his relationships, she chooses to forgive him and remain by his side, displaying maturity and trust 89.
Bei Bei
Bei Bei and Mu Guiyun have a long-standing acquaintance as fellow inner courtyard children, growing up together and maintaining a cordial relationship. Mu Guiyun teases Bei Bei about his feelings for Tang Ya, easily guessing his secret despite Bei Bei's weak excuses 4. However, their relationship becomes strained and competitive due to Mu Guiyun's romantic involvement with Tang Ya. Bei Bei is deeply infatuated with Tang Ya; he repeats a grade just to be in her class and constantly pesters her, hoping to win her over through persistence 4 25. Mu Guiyun, fully aware of Bei Bei's feelings, deliberately shows off his relationship with Tang Ya in front of him, pulling her into his arms and causing Bei Bei to feel jealous, despairing, and ultimately humiliated 30 31. In Chapter 40, Bei Bei's humiliation reaches its peak when Tang Ya publicly rejects him, calling him "Student Bei Bei" and then rushing into Mu Guiyun's arms. Bei Bei is left feeling like a clown, his heart shattered as Mu Guiyun calls Tang Ya his girlfriend 40. Despite this, Mu Guiyun does not harbor outright hostility toward Bei Bei; their interactions remain superficially polite, but the competitive undercurrent is strong. Mu En notes that even his own descendant, Bei Bei, has been excluded from consideration as a future Sea God Pavilion Master, while Mu Guiyun is chosen as the reserve elder 7.
Bei Bei remains unable to let go of Tang Ya even as she becomes increasingly close to Jiang Nannan and Ye Guyi; Xu Sanshi eventually tries to persuade him to give up 85.
Mu En
Mu En is Mu Guiyun's teacher, a father figure who holds immense trust and affection for his disciple. Their relationship is marked by deep respect, strategic thinking, and shared ambitions for Shrek Academy. Mu En appoints Mu Guiyun as a reserve elder of the Sea God Pavilion, an unprecedented honor for someone so young, demonstrating his faith in Mu Guiyun's capabilities 7. He confides in Mu Guiyun about the academy's future and his concerns about the other disciples, admitting that only Mu Guiyun remains a "normal person" among the younger generation 7. Mu En also shares personal stories from his past, including his rivalry with Long Xiaoyao and his regret over the Tang Sect's decline 6. He provides guidance and resources, such as giving Mu Guiyun a 15,000-year Black Tortoise Torso Bone to trade for the Black Tortoise Divine Pill, and he approves Mu Guiyun's schemes, teasing him about his motivations but ultimately supporting him 39. In return, Mu Guiyun is obedient and respectful, agreeing to use the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's spirit ring despite it being a waste for his martial soul, all to please his teacher 18. Mu En also acts as a protector, revealing that he was watching over the group in the Star Dou Great Forest and punishing Xuan Zi for his actions 18.
Mu En offers Mu Guiyun a 400,000-year Ice Jade Empress Scorpion torso bone, but Mu Guiyun declines and requests that it be given to Zhang Lexuan instead 22. He also entrusts Mu Guiyun with a mysterious booklet described as his life’s work and later relies on him through Inspectorate missions connected to the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament 22 91.
Zhang Lexuan
Zhang Lexuan, the future Moon God Douluo and inner courtyard head, develops an unusual and intense interest in Mu Guiyun. From their first meeting on the soul hunting expedition, she gives him a gaze that makes him uncomfortable — "like a little girl looking at her favorite doll" 8. She is protective and dominating, assigning Mu Guiyun to stay within three meters of her during the forest expedition, overriding Ma Xiaotao's objections with the assertion that Mu Guiyun is "the future of the academy" and that Ma Xiaotao, as a Soul King, cannot properly protect him 9. Zhang Lexuan's concern for him is evident, and she softens her voice when speaking to him, creating tension with Ma Xiaotao who feels jealous 8 9. Mu Guiyun, for his part, is wary of her intensity but remains polite, greeting her with a smile and addressing her as "Senior Sister" 8. Their relationship is one of senior-junior with an undertone of possessiveness from Zhang Lexuan, which Mu Guiyun finds somewhat unsettling.
Mu Guiyun shows consideration for Zhang Lexuan by declining Mu En’s offered 400,000-year Ice Jade Empress Scorpion torso bone and asking that it be given to her instead 22. Zhang Lexuan later leads Shrek’s team for the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament and gives Mu Guiyun an Inspectorate mission on Mu En’s behalf 91.
Ice Empress and Snow Empress
The Ice Empress becomes Mu Guiyun’s fourth Wisdom Soul Ring after sacrificing her origin to him, retaining her independent consciousness within his Spirit Consciousness Sea 52. Initially wary of his background and suspicious that he may be connected to the ancient Ice God, she gradually becomes a close ally, addresses him playfully as her master, and assists him in the Far North and against Gui Mei 52 58 70. She remains proud of her status as monarch of the Ice Jade Scorpion clan and agrees to lead Mu Guiyun toward the clan’s Spirit Bones 52.
The Snow Empress is released from the God-Sealing Platform after Mu Guiyun reaches Level 50 58. Mistaking his Ice Element power for that of the Ice God, she is initially guarded, but agrees to become his fifth Wisdom Soul Ring after revealing that she failed her 700,000-year heavenly tribulation and will otherwise eventually disappear 59. Her sole condition is that she not be forced to call him “Master” 59. In combat, she protects Mu Guiyun and uses Emperor’s Frozen Heaven—Snow Dance, Dazzling Sun to defeat Gui Mei 70.
Ye Guyi
Ye Guyi is a fourteen-year-old Soul Ancestor with the top-tier Sacred Angel martial soul, whom Mu Guiyun encounters while investigating the black mist around Chasing Moon City 67 73. Her parents were killed by Evil Soul Masters, motivating her to investigate the black mist and fight evil despite the danger 67 73. Mu Guiyun immediately recognizes the value of her Sacred Angel martial soul against Evil Soul Masters and persuades her to join Shrek Academy with Han Ruoruo’s assistance 67 72.
Yan Shaozhe accepts Ye Guyi into Shrek as a Spirit Department core disciple, recommending that she spend one year in the outer courtyard to qualify for the Continental Soul Fighting Tournament 73 74. Mu Guiyun offers her accommodation in his apartment and helps her settle into the academy 74. Tang Ya and Ye Guyi develop an inexplicable affinity upon meeting, suggesting a possible connection between their martial souls 76.
Ling Luochen
Ling Luochen is a cold, aloof inner courtyard girl, Mu Guiyun runs into her at the Treasure Pavilion and greets her warmly. Her relationship with Ma Xiaotao is noted to be poor, comparable to "relations between North and South Korea" 41. Mu Guiyun maintains a cordial acquaintance with her.
During the Chasing Moon City mission, she obeys Mu Guiyun’s battlefield instructions and knocks out Ye Guyi to prevent the younger girl from interfering with Han Ruoruo’s withdrawal order 69. After witnessing Mu Guiyun’s Ultimate Ice and experiencing his protection, Ling Luochen develops a strong romantic interest in him, partly because he is the first person in years not to trigger her physiological aversion 71. She later seeks him out at Shrek and joins him when he reunites with Tang Ya and Jiang Nannan, becoming visibly threatened by the number of women surrounding him 73 76.
