Background / History

Director Su receives Chu Qing at Nuoding Academy after Su Yuntao's recommendation. Recognizing Chu Qing's Innate Full Soul Power and fire-attributed martial soul, he personally arranges the boy's dormitory and waives his miscellaneous school fees. He also encourages Chu Qing to select a teacher and assures him that the academy's teachers will support his cultivation. 2

When Yu Xiaogang attempts to recruit Chu Qing as a disciple, Director Su initially permits Chu Qing to hear the Master's assessment. However, he openly reveals that Yu Xiaogang is only a level 29 Soul Grand Master and later defends Chu Qing from the Master's anger. 2

After learning that Nihility Devouring Flame can devour living beings to enhance Chu Qing's power, Director Su provides him access to the academy library and organizes an expedition to the Soul Hunting Forest. He brings numerous combat soul master teachers because he considers the first spirit ring too important to risk. 3

During the hunt, he leads the teachers against a three-hundred-year Iron-Back Wolf, then supports Chu Qing's experiment with its corpse. He catches Chu Qing when the mental strain of refining the beast causes him to collapse and remains concerned until the boy recovers. 4 5

Director Su later helps kill the six-hundred-year Heaven-Burning Crane at Blazing Mountain, allowing Chu Qing to absorb it as his first spirit ring. He is astonished by Chu Qing's level 13 breakthrough, powerful first soul skill, flame control, and temporary flight. 5 6

When Yu Xiaogang demands punishment after Tang San is defeated, Director Su refuses to blame Chu Qing, stating that Tang San provoked the conflict. 8

Chu Qing eventually graduates early after reaching level 19 and deciding to seek his second soul ring. Though concerned that Chu Qing is leaving at such a young age, Director Su accepts the decision, gives him travel funds and a thirty-cubic-meter storage Soul Tool, and handles his graduation paperwork. 8 Chu Qing later returns to Spirit Soul Village and gives Director Su an Immortal Herb before departing again. 21

Personality

Director Su is practical, protective, and deeply invested in promising students. He recognizes Chu Qing's exceptional potential early, supports the youth's independent cultivation path, and takes extensive precautions during the Soul Hunting Forest expedition. 2 3

He is skeptical of empty theory and dislikes Yu Xiaogang's conduct, but initially restrains his criticism out of politeness. Once Yu Xiaogang attempts to shift responsibility for Tang San's defeat onto Chu Qing, Director Su firmly takes Chu Qing's side. 2 8

Though he sees Chu Qing's future as far beyond Nuoding Academy, he does not try to keep him from leaving. Instead, he offers practical resources and encouragement for the journey ahead. 8

Swift Thunder Sword

Director Su's martial soul is the Swift Thunder Sword. He manifests two yellow soul rings and one purple soul ring during the battle against the Iron-Back Wolf. 4

• First Soul Skill: Thunder Blade Instant Stab — Condenses silver soul power at the sword's tip for a piercing lightning strike; it inflicts a deep chest wound on the Iron-Back Wolf. 4
