Let the Hunt Begin

Rather than endless hunting, scattering limited time, energy, and troops across the vast land to chase down Orks that keep popping up and running everywhere, it is better to facilitate the birth of a boss, letting the Orks be driven by instinct to gradually converge on the same location.

This is a primitive instinct engraved in the Ork DNA—an irresistible, dim-witted, yet potentially massive influence.

Doom used the Ork knowledge in his mind to step-by-step arrange targeted strategic objectives by exploiting the enemy's racial traits.

"Do you intend to give me an explanation?"

A resentful voice came from behind. Doom suppressed the laughter in his heart, keeping his face straight to prevent a smile from appearing.

Knowing it was a performance, but remembering Harlan being knocked to the ground by a wooden club, Doom felt a sense of schadenfreude.

Harlan completed the perfect performance, successfully escaping under the cover of the Wraiths, and ran over in a hurry while holding his breath.

"Orks are phototropic animals!"

The first sentence Doom uttered was so jumpy that Harlan frowned, unable to understand it for a moment.

Inviting Harlan to sit nearby, the master and servant felt the gentle breeze carrying the smell of gunpowder on the summer night mountain.

"In the dark night, they wander around, looking for faint light sources."

"I built a lighthouse for them so that all the Orks can see it." Doom pointed into the distance, where the Orks were still cheering for the boss, shouting for Gork and Mork.

"Guiding them in their confusion, moving toward the light source of the lighthouse."

"This is too dangerous." Harlan understood a little; attracting the Orks to come voluntarily was much simpler than searching for them, but it also carried risks.

A year ago, that six-meter-tall Ork boss had left a deep impression on him with its intense sense of oppression.

If Doom hadn't descended from the sky to destroy it, Harlan would not have been confident in defeating that violent beast in a one-on-one fight.

"I facilitated Gu Ya becoming the boss for good reason."

Doom agreed regarding the danger. At the same time, there was sufficient reason to implement such a tactic.

"Orks are naturally combative. Without intervention, as time passes and numbers accumulate, they will always naturally produce a boss through violence and schemes."

"Harlan, do you think a boss who emerges through survival of the fittest and heavy selection is more dangerous, or was the Gu Ya from just now more dangerous?"

Harlan did not answer, looking thoughtfully at the reveling Orks. Finally, he nodded heavily in agreement, beginning to understand Doom's strategic arrangement.

"Did it have to be me?"

The embarrassing appearance from today kept Harlan feeling unhappy inside.

"It had to be you! Your illustrious reputation has left a deep impression on the Orks as well."

Doom answered earnestly. Having Harlan act as the defeated totem was not a whim-driven prank, but a solemn choice considered many times over.

From the memories obtained from the consumed Ork brain tissue, he knew that Harlan's reputation left a deep impression on the Orks; in the Ork blood he drank during battle, there were also memories of him.

"Let's go, it's over there."

Calling for Harlan to follow, the Orks' cheering ended. Gu Ya was hoisted by a group of lads onto a temporarily built trash throne, confirming his status as the boss.

Returning to the command room, everyone's eyes were full of reverence, focused on that young man.

Devising strategies within a command tent, winning battles a thousand miles away.

This ancient Terra idiom used to describe him was only eighty percent appropriate, with twenty percent still lacking.

As news of the Orks gathering arrived, the battle-hardened commanders naturally knew that those scattered Orks would gather on their own.

The Night Watchers only needed to construct the battlefield, drag the Ork boss here, and wait for the enemy to deliver themselves in waves.

Surrounded by reverent gazes, Doom's heart sank; he felt the burden on his shoulders grow heavier and the expectations he carried increase.

Amidst the anticipation, Doom walked to the command console and drew a circle on the virtual sandbox:

"Order the Night Watchers to build a fortress. We will control the battle within a range of ten thousand square kilometers; there can be no mistakes!"

"Understood!"

The people in the command room responded loudly, punching their chests and saluting Doom with the etiquette of warriors.

"Let the hunt begin!"

The briefly rested Night Watchers began to cut stone with the weapons in their hands, establishing a solid fortress and beginning the tug-of-war standoff with the Orks.

The Warlord's order was simple: the Ork boss must be held back, and it must never be allowed to leave the designated graveyard.

Seeing the humans building a fortress, the Orks also began to take action, chopping down trees and piling up stones to build a stronghold to confront the humans.

Their castle was to use the image of Gork and Mork, and it had to be bigger than the humans', and more Waaaaaagh!!!!!

Seeing the stronghold rising from the ground with a snarling Ork head at its center, the last trace of worry in Doom's heart finally dissipated.

If it were a normal Ork boss, it would have already started breaking out, regrouping its troops, and using the Orks' rapid reproduction characteristics to drag the humans into a quagmire of war.

Gu Ya built a castle, which also sealed his own doom.

"All units, abandon non-crystal weapons and seal them away for later use."

This order was easy to understand. The Night Watchers understood the characteristics of the Orks; except for crystal creations, they could quickly imitate technology and then crush them with overwhelming numbers.

Doom knew better than anyone that the more Ork gathered together, the more likely a flash of brilliance would strike one of the clever lads.

With everything prepared, a protracted tug-of-war began.

Under Doom's orders, the Night Watchers covertly monitored the migrating Ork, ensuring they encountered no obstacles along their path.

Once the Ork had passed, the Forging Academy of the Core Forge took charge, using their expertise to handle the aftermath.

They used scientific instruments to scan the land, excavating developing Ork from underground while incinerating the path the Ork had taken with plasma flames to ensure nothing remained.

Furthermore, at the Warlord's request, the scorched earth was periodically inspected and burned again.

This ensured not a single Ork was missed and that no green mushrooms would ever grow in the soil again.

On the main battlefield where the two sides stood off, Doom's precise command gradually secured strategic victories.

Whenever a large Ork migration force entered the designated war zone, the Night Watchers would immediately intercept them, using hit-and-run tactics to continuously deplete their living forces.

When Gu Ya led his underlings out to rescue them, the Night Watchers would "fear" his reputation, fleeing in a panicked, disheveled retreat.

The Night Watchers would retreat upon meeting Gu Ya, spreading his fame in terror, which constantly bolstered Gu Ya's status.

During every clash between the two sides, the Wraiths lurking in the shadows were responsible for sniping other Ork, ensuring that Gu Ya's position remained unchallenged.

When the Ork attacked the fortress, the humans would turtle up inside. When the Ork tried to leave, the humans would chase and strike them, forcing the Ork back to their stronghold.

When the enemy advanced, we retreated; when the enemy retreated, we advanced.

The Ork were happy every moment, thanking Gork and Mork, and fighting every day under Gu Ya's leadership.

Gu Ya brought back countless victories, and the "shrimp" were scared out of their wits by him.

Yet in reality, no matter how the Ork fought, they never left the war zone. New Ork joined every day, but the total number of Ork remained below fifty thousand.

Gu Ya's physique remained at four meters, unable to grow another inch.

This bizarre tug-of-war lasted for six months, until no new Ork had arrived from the wilderness for a long time.

Inside the Ork stronghold, the Ork, whose hearts were filled with the joy of fighting, inevitably began to show physical exhaustion.

The Ork lads around Gu Ya had been replaced batch after batch. Instead of growing stronger through battle, the lads were becoming weaker and weaker.

Having been a boss for half a year and bolstered by the Waaagh Field, Gu Ya's cowardly frame had been replaced by strength, and his brain had gained a bit of cunning.

Seeing the weakened Ork, he realized he had been set up, and that the entire Ork race had been set up.

"My Lord, as per your request, all paths traversed by the Ork have been thoroughly cleared."

"Except for your current location, I swear on the honor of the Core Forge, there are no other Ork or Ork spores left in Nul!"

In the command room, the Forging Academy master, dressed in his technician robes with several auxiliary arms folded in front of him, reported to the Warlord in a humble voice, with good news following one after another.

"The Night Watchers appreciate your efforts; the Core Forge surges with your dedication."

Doom expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the selfless contributions made by the Forging Academy master.

They had led their apprentices day and night to clear away the lingering Ork toxins, and they were worthy of the Night Watchers' gratitude.

"Is it the final battle?"

Harlan asked excitedly. His master had lit a beacon, luring and killing over a million Ork in just half a year.

What King Norwick had failed to achieve, Doom had accomplished!

During the tug-of-war with the Ork, Harlan had been the happiest.

Seeing his Night Watchers colleagues being chased in a panic under Gu Ya's tyrannical might healed his heart.

Even knowing it was an exaggerated performance, he felt deeply comforted. After all, who isn't an actor?

"Let the warriors rest well. Launch the attack when the sun rises tomorrow, and let the Ork vanish from Nul forever!"
