Background

According to Fugaku, the Uchiha and Senju founded Konoha together during the Warring States period. He maintains that the clan should have governed the village alongside the Senju, and attributes its later decline to political marginalization by Tobirama Senju and Hiruzen Sarutobi. 3

Orochimaru's Defection and Clan Tensions

The clan's refusal to support Orochimaru for Fourth Hokage frustrates Yatsuhashi, who had hoped such support could improve the Uchiha's political situation and avert the clan's future annihilation. 1 Fugaku later offers him a place in the Military Police Force, but Yatsuhashi declines to demonstrate loyalty to Konoha rather than the clan alone. 3

The Land of Water Incident

When Yatsuhashi is believed dead after an S-rank mission, the clan interprets his assignment as evidence of Konoha's persecution.
