Power Progression

The Family System evaluates the clan through population, renown, total combat strength, and the strength of its most powerful members. Higher prosperity improves Gentō’s chances of drawing rare rewards 1.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
C-Rank prosperity 1 Initial rating: “sparse population.” The system automatically links Gentō to the Uchiha.
Clan-management panel unlocked 27 28 Gentō’s appointment as clan head unlocks the family panel and access to clan-building features. Prosperity remains C-Rank.
B-Rank prosperity 38 Sasuke’s birth raises the clan to B-Rank, unlocking the Awakening Chamber and Mission Hall.
A-Rank prosperity 66 Achieved after five years of population growth. The clan reaches 4,521 members, including 2,305 ninja, and unlocks the Ninja Academy and Training Ground.
S-Rank prosperity 176 177 Reached around Mirai’s birth. Gentō considers both the clan’s established Kage-level fighters and its unusually gifted younger generation important to the assessment. New clan-building options follow.
  • SS-Rank remains a goal, not a confirmed achievement. The “SS Rank Family” quest requires further growth in family size, reputation, overall combat strength, and its strongest members’ power; its reward is three draw chances 422.

Background / History

Early clan history and Konoha

Naka Shrine served as the Uchiha’s spiritual center before they joined Konoha. When Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju founded the village together, the shrine was relocated there. It remained the site of clan meetings, ancestral observances, and leadership decisions 25.

According to Grand Elder Zong Yan, Izuna died from wounds inflicted by Tobirama in Konoha Year One. In Year Two, Madara urged the Uchiha to leave Konoha, but the clan refused because its members had grown accustomed to peaceful village life. Madara departed with the remains of both Izuna and his father, Tajima 371.

The clan’s history also includes the exploitation of its own gifted members. Uchiha Hikari, an ancient Mangekyō user, was treated as a weapon by her clan and sealed during the Warring States Period 413.

Third Shinobi World War

At the beginning of the story, the clan head is away at war, leaving Zong Yan responsible for the Uchiha remaining in Konoha. Danzō pressures him to supply additional troops despite the clan’s existing commitments 1.

The unnamed clan head is killed fighting Kumogakure, having designated Fugaku as acting head. Gentō sees the succession vacancy as an opportunity to redirect the clan’s future rather than allow the catastrophe he remembers from his former life 2 3.

Gentō later secures command of the campaign against Sunagakure, deploying 300 Uchiha Military Police alongside volunteers from other clans. His force detonates 100,000 concealed Explosive Tags and follows up against scattered survivors and an approximately 100-man advance party. The main battle’s preliminary combined Konoha losses are eight dead and 47 wounded, but all 300 Uchiha participants return alive 12 14 16 25.

The victory gives Gentō both prestige and financial leverage. Participating Uchiha receive four or five million ryō each, while Gentō retains 5.5 billion ryō for the clan after negotiating the village’s share of spoils and reparations 23 25.

Gentō’s succession and reforms

The Three Elders divide over whether military achievement or administrative experience should determine the next clan head. Chie makes her deciding vote conditional on a nonlethal duel between Gentō and Fugaku. Gentō defeats Fugaku by trapping him in Yomi Space, receives Chie’s vote, and is formally appointed clan head 26 27.

Gentō retains Fugaku as Military Police commander, creates a twenty-member intelligence unit under Shisui, and prioritizes population growth. He also funds new construction and institutions intended to improve cohesion, Sharingan awakenings, education, and training 28 33 66.

Nine-Tails aftermath and estrangement

Before the Nine-Tails attack, Gentō relocates most of the clan to a nearby town; Fugaku’s police officers and the clan’s Anbu remain in Konoha. When more than three thousand Uchiha return after the disaster, villagers treat their survival as evidence of guilt and accuse them of controlling the beast. The crowd dismisses police deaths as fabricated despite Inabi’s protests that officers died protecting people 43 50.

The confrontation strengthens the clan’s radical faction. Inabi and other prominent fighters openly demand a coup, while Gentō prevents the public dispute from turning violent. The Uchiha subsequently leave the police force and develop their own mission-taking and educational institutions 50 53 54 72.

Their growing independence alarms Konoha’s leadership. Danzō proposes arresting Gentō and ultimately eliminating the clan; Hiruzen authorizes action while warning against provoking open rebellion 74.

Withdrawal and Hidden Xuan Village

The break becomes irreversible when Root attacks the compound to seize Kushina. Gentō defeats Danzō and forces him to reveal nine stolen Sharingan embedded in his arm. Danzō admits that Root murdered Uchiha on missions and falsified the reports; his compelled testimony also implicates Hiruzen in a plan to eliminate Gentō and the clan. Gentō kills Danzō with Susanoo 80 82.

After rejecting mediation by Konoha’s clan heads, Gentō formally declares the Uchiha’s withdrawal. Kushina and Naruto leave with them 84.

Using a Family Relocation Card, Gentō transports the compound’s land, buildings, and residents intact to the Land of Hot Water. The clan chooses the name Hidden Xuan Village, honoring Gentō, and adopts the fan crest for its forehead protectors 89.

Rise as an independent power

Kumogakure sends one thousand ninja to intimidate the new village. Gentō, Fugaku, Shisui, and Itachi field four Susanoo, defeating the invasion and capturing Yugito, Darui, and more than three hundred prisoners. Subsequent negotiations extract 20 billion ryō from Kumogakure 108 110 115 120.

The victory greatly increases demand for Uchiha missions. Clients queue before dawn, and Gentō raises fees because the clan lacks enough ninja to handle the workload. By the time the Land of Hot Water is recognized as a sixth great nation, even the established major powers must accommodate the Uchiha’s influence 126 165.

Hidden Xuan later absorbs Kumogakure, recruits Orochimaru and his followers, and gains access to the White Zetsu army. Its expanding forces and allies make resistance increasingly difficult for rival villages 240 241 259 286.

The clan’s prosperity eventually earns Madara’s approval. Touring Hidden Xuan, he sees Uchiha participating throughout a thriving city rather than remaining confined to a segregated compound, with plentiful missions, training resources, and an extensive technique library 225 226.

Gentō’s later priorities include defeating the Akatsuki, preparing for the Ōtsutsuki, and developing successors capable of administering his growing state. He also deliberately allows rogue researchers to continue their search for Hikari so that they can undo her seal 220 398 417 437.

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan

  • Perception and copying: Enhances movement tracking, reflexes, technique copying, and learning capacity 33 89 313.
  • Ocular genjutsu: Allows mental interference through eye contact without the environmental aids ordinary genjutsu commonly requires 8.
  • Combat enhancement: One-tomoe awakenings are treated as producing chunin-level fighters; a Three-Tomoe Sharingan can raise a chunin’s effective strength to that of a jonin 1 33.
  • Awakening conditions: Strong emotional stimulation can trigger awakening or further development. Xihe awakens directly to two tomoe after Mukade’s attack 310.
  • Limits: Not every Uchiha awakens the Sharingan, and even three tomoe cannot reliably follow a sufficiently fast expert such as Sakumo Hatake 310 386.

Mangekyō Sharingan and Susanoo

  • Rare evolution: Normally requires exceptional mental stimulation, such as the death of a close relative. Fugaku’s awakening follows witnessing the previous clan head’s death 27 310.
  • Individual techniques: Documented powers include Gentō’s Yomi-no-Mikoto and Tokitsumori, Fugaku’s five-second foresight, Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami, and Itachi’s Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu 25 27 50 104.
  • Susanoo deployment: Gentō, Fugaku, Shisui, and Itachi simultaneously field yellow, purple, green, and red Susanoo against Kumogakure 110.
  • Cost: Repeated use drains the Yin Release chakra within the eyes, with Mangekyō techniques accelerating depletion toward blindness 42.
  • Artificial awakening: System cards allow Yunyou and Mirai to obtain the Mangekyō without undergoing the usual traumatic trigger 310 313.

Ocular Restoration and Inheritance

  • Yin Release restoration: Using Orochimaru’s research, Gentō learns to replenish ocular chakra and repair damage from Mangekyō use. He later applies this method to Itachi 43 240.
  • Functional versus true Eternal Mangekyō: Gentō’s restoration method gives him comparable freedom from deterioration, but does not produce a transplantable Eternal Mangekyō. The true form requires merging a close blood relative’s Mangekyō through transplantation 379.
  • Inherited awakening: The secret Awakening Chamber passes a deceased father’s Sharingan to his son, who first awakens one tomoe and then develops a second through grief and a vow of revenge 66.

Fire Release and Expanded Technique Resources

  • Traditional specialty: Fire is the most common Uchiha chakra nature, followed by lightning; wind and water affinities are less common 100.
  • Technique collection: The clan accumulates Fireball, Kirin, Chidori, Lightning Cutter, and other high-quality ninjutsu 177.
  • Broader access: Gentō’s system rewards add Nara shadow techniques, Yamanaka mental techniques, Akimichi techniques, and original creations such as the Flicker Release series 66 74 177.
  • Yin Release limitation: All members possess the Sharingan’s inherited Yin chakra, but only a small minority can skillfully wield Yin Release in combat 10 100.

Higher Bloodline Powers

  • Rinnegan: Gentō and several descendants gain powers beyond the Mangekyō. Hanyu evolves directly from Three-Tomoe Sharingan to the Rinnegan 150 264 310.
  • Mixed inheritance: Gentō’s children combine Uchiha ancestry with bloodlines such as Uzumaki and Senju, alongside system-granted traits 106 216.
  • Ōtsutsuki and shinjutsu: Gentō becomes an Ōtsutsuki and masters Kāma; later children Baiye and Baichen are recorded with Ōtsutsuki bloodlines and the innate Twin Pact shinjutsu 263 416.
  • Not clan-wide abilities: These higher powers belong to particular individuals rather than every Uchiha member 264 310 416.

Culture and Traditions

  • Ancestor worship: Elders light lamps and offer incense on the first and fifteenth days of each lunar month at the Family Shrine 28.
  • Leadership rites: Chie invokes deities, the Sage of Six Paths, and the clan’s ancestors before succession deliberations, framing leadership as safeguarding the fan crest and family legacy 26.
  • Protection of the dead: Uchiha remains are traditionally taken to the shrine and guarded against grave robbers seeking the Sharingan. Izuna’s exact burial location was deliberately omitted from records 371.
  • Merit and experience: Gentō’s succession exposes a genuine division between supporters of battlefield results and those prioritizing seniority and administrative service 22 26.
  • Material legitimacy: Gentō’s popularity rises because he returns clansmen alive and delivers substantial wealth to their households 25.
  • Pride and political limitations: Gentō criticizes the old clan leadership’s narrow focus on Konoha and police work, which he believes prevented it from recognizing strategic opportunities 11.

External Relationships

  • Konohagakure — Former home and employer. Suspicion, surveillance, police-related hostility, and Root’s murders culminate in the Uchiha’s withdrawal; later cooperation becomes possible under Tsunade 50 82 84 144.
  • Danzō and Root — Principal early enemies. Root steals Sharingan through covert murders and eventually attacks the compound; Gentō executes Danzō after exposing his crimes 33 80 82.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi — Initially approves Gentō’s wartime command, but later authorizes action against him and welcomes the prospect of Hidden Xuan’s destruction. After revival, he continues expressing openly hostile views of the Uchiha 12 74 108 318.
  • Tsunade — Reopens diplomatic possibilities as Fifth Hokage, recognizes Hidden Xuan’s military value, and later becomes Gentō’s wife, linking the Uchiha and Senju families 144 166 373.
  • Ino–Shika–Chō, Hyuga, Inuzuka, and Aburame clans — Provide wartime volunteers. Their leaders later criticize Konoha for driving the Uchiha away and seek cooperation with Gentō 12 119 166.
  • Kumogakure — First attempts to crush Hidden Xuan, suffers defeat and a costly ransom, and is eventually absorbed into the Uchiha-led village 108 115 120 286.
  • Kirigakure — Receives Uchiha assistance during the revolution against Yagura and Obito. Gentō also presents his arrangement with Mei as a means of strengthening cooperation between their villages 129 132.
  • Kajiya Clan — Offers inherited forging expertise in exchange for protection and relocation. Gentō assigns Itachi to lead the rescue operation 99.
  • Orochimaru — Supplies crucial Sharingan research and later joins Hidden Xuan with his followers, expanding its scientific and military resources 42 43 241.
  • Chinoike Clan — Historical enemies. Homura recounts former employment and intermarriage ties before a conflict led to their exile by the Uchiha; Konoha later recruits them partly to exploit their hatred 89 108.
  • Akatsuki — Targets Hidden Xuan’s tailed beasts. Gentō eventually defeats the organization, places Nagato under medical supervision and house arrest, and imprisons Obito 217 220.
  • Kara and the Ōtsutsuki — Later existential threats. Kara’s interest in Eternal Mangekyō eyes alarms Gentō for Yunyou and Mirai’s safety, while Isshiki explicitly threatens his followers 379 398.

Mission Economy

  • Independent commissions: The Mission Hall creates a cycle of income, training, and increased mission capacity that Konoha’s leadership views as a threat to its control 74.
  • Client demand: Merchants, nobles, and daimyō’s envoys seek Uchiha services in numbers exceeding the clan’s available manpower 126.
  • Escort reputation: Nobles and merchants praise the Uchiha’s reliability, and the Fire Daimyō cites their reputation while reprimanding Hiruzen 138.
  • Proposed joint teams: Gentō offers teams of one Uchiha and three Konoha ninja, with 70% of earnings going to the Uchiha and 30% shared by Konoha’s members. The supplied account records the proposal and objections, not final acceptance 166.
