History
The Wang Family was one of the three great families that controlled Qingxi County alongside the Hu and Liu families. Its reputation was powerful enough that Li Village Chief Li Shoucai openly invoked the family's name to intimidate a constable, while peripheral descendant Wang Erniu obtained a city-gate guard post through family prestige 13 14.
At least half a year before the family's downfall, the Wangs ordered Huang Village Chief Huang Changgui to supply human “blood-food” to the Rat Demons of Yellow Wind Mountain. Huang Changgui later drugged Mu Yang in an attempt to offer him to Hui Jiu, a newly advanced rat demon 2.
Alliance with Yellow Wind Mountain
Wang Rudong maintained direct contact with the Yellow Wind King's son Hui Er, who delivered the blood pills required for Rudong's altered demonic cultivation. Hui Er also acted as the messenger between the Wang Family and Yellow Wind Mountain 17.
When Hui Er investigated the disappearance of Hui Jiu and Hui Wu, Wang Rudong had Wang Fu gather intelligence on recent demon activity. The report identified Mu Yang as the constable who had slain both rat demons, exposing the threat Mu Yang posed to their arrangement 17.
Hui Er murdered Wang Erniu after questioning him about the corpses Mu Yang had brought through the city gate, explicitly eliminating a witness to the cooperation between the family and the rat demons. Wang Rudong allowed the killing to pass without resistance 17.
Suppression of Evidence
After Mu Yang killed Hui Er and later exterminated the Yellow Wind Old Monster's forces, Wang Rudong lost both his source of blood pills and his demonic allies. Fearing that correspondence and witnesses could expose the family, he ordered the elimination of everyone aware of the Yellow Wind Mountain affair 21 31.
Demonic Blood Practices
Wang Rudong secretly cultivated the forbidden Demon Blood External Method in an underground chamber beneath the family manor. The technique required monster blood and human blood pills, converted a practitioner's qi and blood into demonic blood qi, and enabled physical demonization 17 33 34.
- Rudong used blood pills supplied through Hui Er while attempting to break into the fourth-stage Condensing Qi Realm 17.
- His cultivation gave him a demonic aura detectable by Mu Yang and allowed him to reach roughly 20,000 catties of single-arm strength 33.
- During his final battle, Rudong transformed into a Half-Demon, but Mu Yang overpowered and killed him 33 34.
- The family's treasury contained a copy of the Demon Blood External Method, later taken by Mu Yang 34 36.
Known Members
- Wang Rudong — Patriarch of the Wang Family and a Qingxi County Clerk. He directed the alliance with Yellow Wind Mountain, cultivated the Demon Blood External Method, and was killed by Mu Yang 17 33 34.
- Wang Shijun — Wang Rudong's son, a main-line descendant and the younger generation's most talented member. An early Blood-Marrow Realm martial artist, he ordered the attack on Mu Yang at the manor gate and was later killed by Mu Yang 31 33.
- Wang Fu — The family's trusted butler and Rudong's handler for external affairs. He collected intelligence, summoned Wang Erniu for Hui Er's interrogation, and delivered Rudong's orders concerning Yellow Wind Mountain witnesses 17 21 31.
- Wang Erniu — A peripheral-branch descendant employed as a city-gate guard. Hui Er killed him after confirming that the rat demon corpses seen at the gate resembled Hui Er and his brothers 14 17.
Downfall
After learning that Wang Rudong had ordered the killing of potential witnesses, Mu Yang confronted the Wang Family at night, accusing it of colluding with rat demons and attempting to murder a court officer. Wang Shijun ordered the family's servants to attack, giving Mu Yang grounds to force his way into the manor 31.
Mu Yang cut down six servants, defeated and injured Wang Shijun, and confronted Wang Rudong. Rudong first attempted to buy Mu Yang off with gold, then abandoned all restraint and revealed his demonic cultivation when the bribe failed 32 33.
Mu Yang killed Wang Shijun and Wang Rudong. With its patriarch dead, the century-old clan immediately lost its position as Qingxi County's dominant force. Zhou Heng and Xue She then led a raid on the estate: resisters were executed, non-resisters imprisoned, and the family's property confiscated 33 34.
Confiscated Assets
The Wang Family treasury contained resources surpassing those available in the Qingxi County Office armory, including:
