Background / History

Xue She was Qingxi County's Head Constable and the Constable Office's strongest martial artist. As Zhou Heng's brother-in-law, he was drawn into Zhou Heng's effort to use Mu Yang's potential to attract the Demon Slayer Bureau's attention to Qingxi County. When Mu Yang went alone to confront the Rat Demons of Li Village, Xue She was sent to ensure his safety. 23

He arrived after Mu Yang had already exterminated the six Rat Demons, including a third-tier Rat Demon. Shortly afterward, while searching Yellow Wind Mountain with Wu Cai, Xue She met Mu Yang for the first time and realized that the head Mu Yang carried was the Yellow Wind Old Monster's. 25 27

During Mu Yang's assault on the Wang Family, Xue She recognized Wang Rudong's use of the forbidden Demon Blood External Method and explained its gruesome requirements and dangers. He expected Wang Rudong's strength to overwhelm them and was prepared to cover Zhou Heng and Mu Yang's escape, only to witness Mu Yang kill Wang Rudong with startling ease. 33 34

After the Wang Family's fall, Xue She became one of Mu Yang's principal local sources of martial knowledge. He explained the Demon Blood External Method, the distinction between demons, devils, spirit beasts, and flora spirits, and the basics of the Condensing Qi Realm. 35

Xue She later accompanied Mu Yang from Qingxi County to Qinghe Prefecture, briefing him on local forces and warning him about the influential Pingwei Escort Agency. He celebrated Mu Yang's successful entry into the Demon Slayer Bureau with Dai Wang, then returned to Qingxi County after advising Mu Yang to seek Dai Wang's help if necessary. 46 47 59 61

By Mu Yang's return to Qingxi County, Xue She had suffered serious injuries that left his muscles and bones damaged throughout his limbs. Although county physicians believed he might be unable to practice martial arts again, Mu Yang gave him a healing pill that immediately began easing the discoloration and pain in his injuries. 202

Personality

Xue She is conscientious and protective of his fellow constables. Though he criticized Mu Yang's recklessness, he immediately set out to rescue him when the younger constable faced powerful demons alone. 23 25

He is candid about his own limitations. Seeing Qinghe Prefecture's younger prodigies, Xue She openly reflected on the decisive advantage that wealth, medicinal resources, and family background offered them over martial artists from Qingxi County. 32

Despite his shock at Mu Yang's repeated feats, Xue She comes to respect his strength and character. He recognizes that Mu Yang's calmness, decisiveness, and meticulousness—not merely his power—make him exceptional. 34 35
