Shen Qinglan grew up alongside Chen An, and the two maintain a close, sibling-like bond in their early years. When Bai Yifan attempts to buy Chen An away from her, she intervenes personally, drives Bai off, and gives Chen An Yuan Jing and a Qi Condensation Pill to support his cultivation 1 2 3.

Their childhood connection originates with their fathers. When Shen Zongyue was severely injured while hunting demonic beasts, Chen An's father Chen Yan saved him while gathering herbs; the two subsequently became close friends.
