Background / History
The Heaven-Dominating Sect is one of the Four Great Martial Sacred Lands. Alongside the Mountain-Shaking Sect, Blazing Sun Sect, Galaxy Sword Sect, and the Great Luo Imperial Family, it helped establish the Great Luo Dynasty after the Ancient Devil Cataclysm. The Sacred Lands protect humanity’s martial world, check imperial power, and jointly determine major matters concerning the survival of humanity and the security of its territory 25.
The sect’s standing depends in part on the presence of Martial Emperor-level protectors. Each of the Four Great Martial Sacred Lands possesses, or is expected to possess, a Martial Emperor Realm expert to suppress its era 25. Cang Wanli sought Chen An as a successor because Chen An had no entrenched ties to rival factions and had entered the Martial Emperor Realm at seventeen; Cang Wanli believed such a successor could wield sect authority without being controlled by outside interests 146.
When the Ancient Devil Race threatened humanity, sect ancestor Ning Xuantong and Great Luo Sovereign Xuan Zhantian responded to the descent of a Devil Emperor by rushing toward Qing Province 129. Later, Chen An’s victories against the Devil Race and his formal entry into the sect greatly raised its prestige across the Great Luo Dynasty 175 181.
Cang Wanli initially asked Chen An to serve temporarily as Supreme Elder while he defended the Northern Frontier. Chen An accepted on the condition that he could leave in the future without obstruction 145 146. He was subsequently welcomed by the sect leadership, granted unrestricted access to its Scripture Repository, and formally invested as Supreme Elder before the sect and outside dignitaries 175 178 189.
Following Chen An’s breakthrough beyond the Martial Emperor Realm, the sect gained a Half-Saint—and subsequently Saint Realm—protector whose growth shattered the cultivation shackles that had constrained Azure Origin Continent for tens of thousands of years 195 228.
Territory and Facilities
Vast Wilds Mountain Range
The sect occupies the core spiritual veins of the Vast Wilds Mountain Range in Cang Prefecture. The range spans five thousand li and contains seventy-two primary peaks arranged as a natural formation that gathers origin energy 175.
- The region’s dense origin energy allows ordinary residents to remain free of illness; those who cultivate can readily reach Qi Condensation and live to one hundred years 175.
- Virtually all of Cang Prefecture is considered the sect’s sphere of influence, and more than half of the officials in its government offices are Heaven-Dominating Sect disciples 175.
- Heaven-Dominating Peak serves as the sect’s center.
- Three hundred and sixty auxiliary peaks extend from the main peak, each corresponding to a branching earth spiritual vein 175.
- The sect’s mountain gate is one hundred zhang tall 175.
- Its foundations include an essence crystal ley line and a Yuan Jing main earth vein in the Canghuang Mountains 176 212.
- The sect’s terrain and converging earth veins nourish spiritual trees and medicinal herbs, while making the ambient spiritual energy several times denser than that outside the mountain range 212.
Heaven Origin Grand Formation
The Heaven Origin Grand Formation is the sect-protecting formation established by the Seventh Patriarch. It uses the subterranean main origin-crystal vein and the momentum of heaven and earth as its foundation, and its accumulated spiritualization produced a flood-dragon formation spirit 189.
- At its historical peak, the formation could withstand a full-force strike from a Saint Realm expert 189.
- Though weakened by tens of thousands of years of attrition, it remains beyond the ability of an ordinary Martial Emperor to shake easily 189.
- The formation’s continued protection is a principal reason the sect has endured successive upheavals, Devil Race invasions, and wars without losing its status as a Martial Sacred Land 189.
Thunderpeak
Thunderpeak is a sect peak rich in thunder essence and suited to thunder-attributed cultivation methods. It became Chen An’s residence after he joined the sect 177.
- Thunderpeak is shrouded by thunderclouds year-round, making its summit unsuitable for ordinary martial artists to inhabit for extended periods 178.
- Thunderclap Hall, the peak’s principal hall, is forged from mysterious extraterrestrial iron and roofed with lightning-drawing glazed tiles. The tiles continuously draw down lightning and create a lightning-gathering formation spanning a hundred-li radius 178.
- More than one hundred protected courtyards stand along the mountain’s slopes and foot, allowing residents to benefit from thunder-aspected essence without suffering damage from excessive lightning power 178.
- As Supreme Elder, Chen An was assigned the entire peak and more than one hundred servant disciples 178.
Scripture Repository
The Scripture Repository preserves the sect’s accumulated martial legacy of tens of thousands of years 178.
- The Repository is over one hundred zhang tall, constructed from indestructible black-patterned rock, and has nine floors protected by restrictive formations 178.
- Two Martial King Realm elders guard the Repository in rotation 178.
- Ordinary disciples may read on the first through third floors 178.
- Floors above the third contain Heaven-tier and higher cultivation methods, including King-tier and Emperor-tier arts, martial skills, secret arts, alchemy and formation arts, and cultivation notes from experts above the Grandmaster Realm 178.
- The first through third floors chiefly preserve Yellow-tier, Profound-tier, and Earth-tier cultivation methods, along with basic supplementary records for alchemy, artifact forging, and formations 178.
- The fourth through sixth floors contain Heaven-tier and King-tier manuals, as well as notes left by past elders and true disciples 178.
- The ninth floor is a sect forbidden ground containing the handwritten notes of every patriarch, the sect-protecting supreme art Overlord Heaven Fist, and incomplete techniques and records involving ancient secrets 178.
- Access to the upper floors is normally limited to elders and true disciples 178.
- Cang Wanli granted Chen An access to every floor and all preserved texts, including patriarchal handwritten notes 178 182.
- Known incomplete legacies recorded within include the Reverse Dragon Essence Burst Art, God-Burning Escape Art, and Heaven-Mending Resurrection Art 182.
- Chen An found five Emperor-tier arts there: Overlord Heaven Fist, Myriad Laws Indestructible Body, Nine Nether Heaven-Destroying Palm, Ice Soul Divine Scripture, and Primal Chaos Beginning Art 182.
