Background / History

The Heaven-Dominating Sect is one of the Four Great Martial Sacred Lands. Alongside the Mountain-Shaking Sect, Blazing Sun Sect, Galaxy Sword Sect, and the Great Luo Imperial Family, it helped establish the Great Luo Dynasty after the Ancient Devil Cataclysm. The Sacred Lands protect humanity’s martial world, check imperial power, and jointly determine major matters concerning the survival of humanity and the security of its territory 25.

The sect’s standing depends in part on the presence of Martial Emperor-level protectors. Each of the Four Great Martial Sacred Lands possesses, or is expected to possess, a Martial Emperor Realm expert to suppress its era 25. Cang Wanli sought Chen An as a successor because Chen An had no entrenched ties to rival factions and had entered the Martial Emperor Realm at seventeen; Cang Wanli believed such a successor could wield sect authority without being controlled by outside interests 146.

When the Ancient Devil Race threatened humanity, sect ancestor Ning Xuantong and Great Luo Sovereign Xuan Zhantian responded to the descent of a Devil Emperor by rushing toward Qing Province 129. Later, Chen An’s victories against the Devil Race and his formal entry into the sect greatly raised its prestige across the Great Luo Dynasty 175 181.

Cang Wanli initially asked Chen An to serve temporarily as Supreme Elder while he defended the Northern Frontier. Chen An accepted on the condition that he could leave in the future without obstruction 145 146. He was subsequently welcomed by the sect leadership, granted unrestricted access to its Scripture Repository, and formally invested as Supreme Elder before the sect and outside dignitaries 175 178 189.

Following Chen An’s breakthrough beyond the Martial Emperor Realm, the sect gained a Half-Saint—and subsequently Saint Realm—protector whose growth shattered the cultivation shackles that had constrained Azure Origin Continent for tens of thousands of years 195 228.

Vast Wilds Mountain Range

The sect occupies the core spiritual veins of the Vast Wilds Mountain Range in Cang Prefecture. The range spans five thousand li and contains seventy-two primary peaks arranged as a natural formation that gathers origin energy 175.

• The region’s dense origin energy allows ordinary residents to remain free of illness; those who cultivate can readily reach Qi Condensation and live to one hundred years 175.

The Heaven Origin Grand Formation is the sect-protecting formation established by the Seventh Patriarch. It uses the subterranean main origin-crystal vein and the momentum of heaven and earth as its foundation, and its accumulated spiritualization produced a flood-dragon formation spirit 189.

• At its historical peak, the formation could withstand a full-force strike from a Saint Realm expert 189.
• Though weakened by tens of thousands of years of attrition, it remains beyond the ability of an ordinary Martial Emperor to shake easily 189.

Thunderpeak

Thunderpeak is a sect peak rich in thunder essence and suited to thunder-attributed cultivation methods. It became Chen An’s residence after he joined the sect 177.

• Thunderpeak is shrouded by thunderclouds year-round, making its summit unsuitable for ordinary martial artists to inhabit for extended periods 178.
• Thunderclap Hall, the peak’s principal hall, is forged from mysterious extraterrestrial iron and roofed with lightning-drawing glazed tiles. The tiles continuously draw down lightning and create a lightning-gathering formation spanning a hundred-li radius 178.
