Over the next few days, Du Mu and Blade teamed up to sweep through the territory of Frost.
Blade took charge of the frontline assault to deal damage, while Du Mu focused on finishing off enemies and securing kills, making for a clear division of labor.
As the number of vampires they killed climbed sharply, the duo's fearsome reputation spread like a plague throughout the entire vampire circle.
Some vampires even gave them a catchy nickname—the Black and White Duo!
Black & White Double Kill!
Perhaps their actions were too high-profile.
Starting on the third day of their partnership, they noticed a significant drop in the number of vampires.
The territories left behind were often guarded by only a dozen or so vampires, and at the slightest sign of trouble, they would immediately bolt, abandoning their turf entirely.
After clearing out yet another nearly empty stronghold, Du Mu finally heard the system notification.

There's a follow-up mission?

Although it wasn't a main quest, the rewards were quite generous.
Since Blade had already tracked down the headquarters of Deacon Frost over the past few days, Du Mu immediately decided to set out with him.
The following dawn.
Acting on intelligence, Du Mu and Blade arrived at a completely sealed private building.
The entire structure resembled a steel fortress, with all windows firmly blocked by heavy metal shutters, making it impossible to peek inside from the outside.
Du Mu gazed at the building from afar: "Are vampires really this rich?"
Blade let out a cold snort: "There are plenty of rich people who want to become vampires."
The wealthier people are, the more they fear death; for the sake of eternal life and youth, they are willing to pay any price.
Du Mu looked at Blade curiously: "Then why are you so poor?"
Blade: "..."
I am half-human, half-vampire, a new breed, so that doesn't count!
Next, the two began to formulate a plan.
Their plan was simple: first, infiltrate the building, and then play it by ear!
One could say it was a very rigorous plan!
Du Mu suggested: "To prevent Deacon Frost from escaping, you enter from the ground floor, and I'll enter from the top. We'll surround the whole building."
Surrounding the whole building with just two people—that's badass enough, I like it!
Blade gave a silent nod of approval in his heart, but immediately asked: "But how do you plan to get up there? This building is at least fifty stories high."
Du Mu didn't explain; he crouched down to flip the switch on his new Gravity Boots, then reached the edge of the building and stepped onto the vertical wall.
The next moment, Du Mu's feet stood firmly on the wall as if he were walking on flat ground.
Blade was completely dumbfounded.
He hadn't studied much, but could anyone tell him if this was scientific?
With the help of the Gravity Boots, Du Mu easily reached the rooftop. Just as he poked his head over, he heard a blast of loud music; a group of vampires was throwing a party by the pool.
Du Mu was speechless.
Don't these vampires have any other hobbies? Why are they throwing parties every single day?
He pulled out a megaphone and shouted down: "Hello! Everyone, eyes on me! I have an announcement!"
All the vampires instinctively looked up toward the edge of the roof at the sound, only to see half of Du Mu's head peeking over, and they were instantly stunned.
This was over fifty stories up—how on earth did this guy climb up here?
Before they could even react, several cylinders suddenly dropped into their midst.
"Shit! Flashbangs!!"
BOOM!!
A blinding, dazzling light erupted in an instant!
The vampires were caught off guard and hit square in the face!
Although vampires possess powerful self-healing abilities, being flashed like that was more than enough to leave them blinded, deafened, and leaking tears and snot everywhere, rendering them completely unable to resist.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG--!
Du Mu vaulted off the platform, drew his Golden Desert Eagle, and opened fire continuously on the vampires, who were suffering from a stack of debuffs!
He had long since loaded silver bullets; a dozen vampires had their heads blown open and turned into ash on the spot, scattering in the wind.
The remaining vampires tried to fumble for their guns in a panic, but they were still blinded; the bullets they fired either flew off into nowhere or struck their own companions, creating a scene of utter chaos.
Du Mu stood his ground, picking off the remaining vampires one by one, leaving only the last one for questioning.
"Where is Deacon Frost?"
"Deacon who?"
"Deacon Frost."
"What kind of Frost?"
"..."
BANG!
Du Mu ended that vampire gentleman with a single shot.
It seems he had overestimated the self-healing capabilities of vampires; the deafness caused by the flashbangs had lasted surprisingly long.
Du Mu activated his earpiece: "This is Du Mu. I have successfully infiltrated the building. No one has discovered my presence. Over."
"I've infiltrated as well. Uh... no one has discovered my presence either."
Blade's voice came through the comms, accompanied by the sounds of an intense struggle.
Du Mu nodded: "Very well. Let's split up and search for Frost's whereabouts."
With that, Du Mu found the stairwell and began to head down.
TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP--!
Rapid, dense footsteps suddenly echoed from the end of the corridor, and dozens of heavily armed vampires appeared in his line of sight.
Their equipment was top-notch: ballistic helmets, body armor, and automatic rifles. They were clearly a professional unit.
Upon spotting Du Mu, the vampires didn't hesitate for a second and immediately raised their muzzles!
DA-DA-DA-DA-DA--!
Clusters of muzzle flashes bloomed, and a dense hail of gunfire surged toward Du Mu!
Du Mu performed a tactical roll and ducked behind cover.
The vampires were experienced; they maintained suppressive fire while forming a tactical formation, steadily advancing toward the cover where Du Mu was hiding.
Just as they were about to close in on his position, a grenade was suddenly tossed from behind a pillar, rolling precisely in front of their formation.
"Watch out, grenade!"
A vampire shrieked.
However, the expected explosion did not occur.
With a hiss, the grenade released a massive cloud of thick yellow smoke, which spread through the enclosed corridor at an incredible speed!
"Fuck! It's a Concentrated Garlic Grenade!!"
The vampires' expressions shifted drastically, and they scrambled to retreat in terror.
But it was too late. The yellow garlic smoke clung to them like maggots on bone, instantly engulfing them. Their bodies erupted into flames, and they let out blood-curdling screams before collapsing into piles of ash.
A vampire's vitality is incredibly tenacious, yet simultaneously extremely fragile.
Even an ordinary human can easily kill a vampire instantly, provided they possess weapons like concentrated garlic or pure silver.
Let alone a player like Du Mu; with weapons and equipment that provided absolute suppression, it was practically no different from playing against bots.
After wiping out the vampire armed unit, Du Mu searched the upper levels for traces of Deacon Frost, but unfortunately, he found nothing.
Consequently, he contacted Blade once again.
"Blade, how is it on your end? Any discoveries?"
"Yeah, I discovered that my dead mother has come back to life."
Du Mu: "???"
