Early Connections

In his youth, Minato rescued Kushina from Cloud ninjas, winning her affection. In the future visited by Naruto, the two raise their son together 11 12.

By the time Uchiha Aoba joins Anbu, Minato is already one of Konoha's leading figures and has earned the internationally feared reputation of the Yellow Flash. He knows Aoba through Obito and Aoba's connections with Kakashi's graduating class, and welcomes him as a subordinate 7 8.

Rōran Mission

Minato leads Aoba, Kakashi, Shibi Aburame, and Choza Akimichi on an S-rank mission to investigate Rōran's unstable Dragon Vein. Originally commissioned through Sunagakure, the mission passes to Konoha after Suna's defeat and is upgraded because it requires crossing national borders 8 9.
