Background / History

Naruto introduces himself at the Ninja Academy as an ordinary Konoha student, declares his love of Ichiraku Ramen, and announces his ambition to protect Konoha and everyone in it. Although several classmates mock the dream, he refuses to back down and vows to keep working until he achieves it. Uchiha Ruri is impressed by his determination and believes he possesses the perseverance needed to realize that goal 26.

During Ruri's practical combat class, Naruto faces Sasuke in their first duel. He uses the Three Body Technique to produce two clones, but Sasuke evades them and identifies the real Naruto, defeating him. Naruto nevertheless remains determined to improve 28.

Naruto becomes close friends with Sasuke despite their contrasting personalities. He notices when Sasuke is withdrawn after class, tries to cheer him up, and continues to affirm his own ambitions when Sasuke doubts him 35. He later joins Sasuke and Ruri for ramen, where the two boys openly acknowledge their friendship and desire to grow stronger together 36.

Personality

He follows Sasuke after school, repeatedly tries to invite him to ramen, and later apologizes when he realizes he has crossed a boundary concerning Sasuke's sister 36.
