Background / History

Hanabi began as one of Uchiha Ruri's shadow clones. Ruri purchased information and character designs for Honkai: Star Rail's Hanabi, converted them into a memory card, and had the clone fuse with the persona. Following the successful fusion, Ruri ordered her to take the identity of Uchiha Hanabi and infiltrate the Akatsuki. 18

Although the persona includes the image of an Uchiha prodigy, Hanabi recognizes that her talent and power originate from Ruri. She immediately displays an independent, irreverent attitude, mocking Ruri's incomplete command of Six Paths Sasuke's power while insisting that the taunts are meant to push the original body to improve. 19

Ruri sent Hanabi, Gojo Rin, and Gojo Satoru to Yugakure to seek entry into Akatsuki. Hanabi initially preferred relying on their overwhelming power rather than careful planning, but accepted the need for intelligence gathering and maintaining their cover. 19

In Yugakure, Hanabi helped promote the Jashin Cult while publicly presenting Akatsuki as a peace-oriented organization. Her stated long-term objective was to enter Akatsuki, dismantle it from within, and convert its members into Jashin Cult believers without indiscriminate slaughter. 47 48

After fighting Akatsuki's recruitment team, Hanabi accepted membership alongside Rin and Satoru. She then used a fabricated orphan backstory to gain Konan's sympathy and establish herself as a vulnerable new member. 49 50
