"It woke up?" Nami looked at the sword in confusion, then at Zoro. "What do you mean, it woke up?"
"Literally," Zoro said, frowning slightly as he stared at the blade.
As a swordsman—especially one who wielded three famous blades—Zoro knew the renowned swords of the age very well. Yet in his memory, this cursed blade resting on the sword rack had not been included among the current ranks of famous blades.
But that was perfectly understandable. According to Nami, it was an antique with a history of two or three centuries, likely kept in the possession of the Nefertari family until now.
It had only been delivered into their hands recently.
The famous blades of the age were generally ranked alongside renowned swordsmen.
Take the Black Blade Yoru in the hands of the world's strongest swordsman, Mihawk. It now stood first among the Supreme Grade Blades, but it had not originally held that rank. Only after Mihawk ascended to the throne of the strongest did it officially surpass every other famous blade.
The other famous blades were the same. Their rankings changed from time to time.
Blades strengthened swordsmen, but likewise, as they accompanied swordsmen in their growth, they were reforged by their wielders.
"How strange." Though Nami did not understand, she did not press the matter. Instead, she asked, "Do you like it? If you do, I'll be generous and give it to you."
At that, Zoro stroked the three swords at his waist. After a moment, he shook his head. "No need. What I have now is just right."
He had Wado Ichimonji, Sandai Kitetsu, and Yubashiri—each a fine blade. Zoro had no intention of replacing them. Rather than switching to better swords, he preferred to use his own strength to "forge" the blades at his side.
