Background

The Phoenix Cry Bird was originally Huang Shaohai's spirit pet. After Lin Chang'an killed Huang, he used the Phantom Mask and Beast Taming Plaque to transfer the existing spirit contract to himself. The bird immediately recognized its changed circumstances and began currying favor with its new master. 140

Before Huang Shaohai obtained it, the Zhou Family had spent half a year preparing to capture the exotic beast, only to lose it to cultivator bandits. During Huang Shaohai's confrontation with Lin Chang'an, the bird shattered Lin's Second-Order Middle-Grade Diamond Talisman shield and was recognized as the beast taken from the Zhou Family. Huang had intended to raise it and extract its essence blood to strengthen his own cultivation. 83 138 140

It was found in the Cloud Mist Mountain Range, though it does not know its own exact origin. It recalls a flash of fire at its birth before somehow passing through a crack and arriving in the mountain range, where it fed on insects until human cultivators captured it.
